My pharmacy just switched generics. Ever since I have been feeling increasingly worse. Today I had a major reaction. Sweats, nightmares, tremors, speech problems. So bad that when I went to my dr she told me to stop taking the medication which I have been on for two years immediately. Now I'm afraid that I'm going to be feeling awful. ## Hello, Karen! How are you feeling? Did you experience any other withdrawal effects? The FDA lists them as possibly including nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound depression and diarrhea. Did you doctor prescribe an alternative? ## I was taking teva brand venlafaxine xr 150 and the pharmacy switched to aurobindo brand and by the end of the day I was in withdrawls brain zaps and dizziness

If you'd only started recently then you may have experienced some mi...

I would rather have Xanax. They work better than the Venlafaxine 75mg pill marked 93 7382. What are your thoughts between the two? ## These are different classes of medications, Xanax is a benzodiazepine that is most commonly used to treat anxiety, and some pain disorders. It carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, and dry mouth. It can usually be taken as needed, and will have some effect within 15 to 20 minutes of taking it. Venlafaxine, however, is an SNRI, it is most commonly used to treat anxiety, and depression. Additionally, rather than taking it as needed, it must be taken on a regular basis, and will take about a month to reach its full level of efficacy in your body. Its side effects may include na...

I have been taking venlafaxine for a couple of years but add a bad depression so doc gave me a 75 mg toke as well as 225 should I take them together or apart ## Hello, Pauline! How are you? Only your doctor can give you a definitive answer, but most likely they meant you take them together to raise your dosage. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was on venlafaxine 37mg and it made me more worse. I was on cymbalta and that worked great but it stopped working and now i am on zoloft but it's not working. I am thinking about pristiq but is it worth it over venlafaxine? ## It is a similar medication in the same class, but it is not exactly the same, so it may work better for you. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings, and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

What is some of the side affects and should I be worried? With combining these drugs, and if they might be drinking also. Thanks ## Based on my research, there are potentially unsafe drug interactions between these two medications. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "Using zolpidem together with venlafaxine may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop usi...

I would like to know as my doctor prescribed them to me and they made me feel like a zombie. ## Hello, Jessie! How are you? No, the U.S. FDA classifies it as an SNRI antidepressant and its typical side effects may possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. What types of effects did you experience that made you feel that way? How long were you taking it?

Hi, this is my second time trying Effexor. I was on it for several years a while ago, but went off as I got to the highest dose and it still stopped working after a while. Since then I've tried several other drugs to very little improvement, as well as ECT and rTMS, neither worked. Of course I've tried counselling and CBT, and mindfulness as well, but my brain is not even in a place where I can begin to implement those things. So, I believe that the Effexor is beginning to possibly help. I haven't had a major low in a few days, I'm actually able to push myself a little to do some stuff. I even tidied up a bit! First time I've really been able to do that in 6 months. Major problem though... most of the side effects I'm getting are deal-with-able, dry mouth, etc. B...

I have been on Cymbalta for RSD/CRPS pain and my VA doctor wants me to switch to VENLAFAXINE HCL 75MG 24HR SA CAP. She is saying I do not need to dosage down off the cymbalta and to just start taking the VENLAFAXINE HCL 75MG 24HR SA CAP 2x's per day. I am concerned as I do not see anything in the listing for being used for nerve pain. Just for Depression. Can you please tell me if this is used for RSD/CRPS pain? My pharmacist states it will not be effective for the pain. I am not depressed and I am already taking 38 pills per day. ## Hello, Bobbette! How are you? Both of these medications are classified by the FDA as being SNRIs, which means you can switch cleanly from one to the other and they are both used to treat the same conditions. Typical side effects are listed as possibly i...

Hi I've been on venlafaxine for years the amneal brand. Well now they have stopped making it. Can anyone recommend a brand that causes the least amount of side effects. My pharmacy says they only carry the zydus brand. I'm going to have to try it but I'd rather not be a guinea pig one more time. Any opinions out there on Best brands. Thank you ## Venlafaxine Extended Release by Osmotica Pharmaceutical is exactly the same as name brand, don’t know the best brand in regular venlafaxine.

Mine says for pain and mood. In what way would this help pain? Or maybe I should rephrase what is in it to relieve pain? ## Hello, Suzette! How are you? It can help with some types of nerve pain, due to it's action in the brain. Many people have had good luck with these types of medications, which means they can avoid resorting to possibly habit forming narcotics. Thus, there's nothing else special in it, it's the Venlafaxine itself that can help. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

My daughter has been trying to taper off effexor for 6 months. She has had nausea, vertigo, brain zaps. A couple days ago she says she felt like crying for non reason. Yesterday she had these feelings off and on all day. How long does this it last? Is there anything for these crying spells? Please help. ## HI, Lexy! I'm very sorry about your daughter is going through. What type of taper is she doing? Is her doctor helping her? The crying could mean that she's trying to do it too fast, because that's what usually causes such rebound effects. Learn more Effexor details here. If someone has been on them for a long period of time, these medications must be very slowly tapered. ## Thanks for repkying Verwon, She has been tapering slowly, except when she cut her dose from 150mg (o...

Testosterone free and total comes at low level, GP asked for testosterone replacement therapy injections, due to severe obs, sleep apnea and due non usage of CPAP, I am confused a bit should I start testosterone injection? guide ## I'm not sure what types of tests you are wanting to have done. It isn't known to have major effects on your body's hormone levels and etc. Learn more Venlafaxine details here. As to your testosterone, that's something you should really discuss with a medica...

I have 2 different pills in one bottle and the contents described on the label is Venlafaxine Hcl Er Tabs 75mg -Sun Pharm. 1 pill is marked 759 and is pink and white. The other is smaller, all white with the letters OS and these numbers under the letters:302 or 362 or 382. Which one is Venlafaxine? Thanks! ## Hello, Daydoc! How are you? They both contain 75mgs of Venlafaxine in a time released formulation, they've just been manufactured by different companies, which is very common with generics. Your pharmacy likely didn't have enough of one to fill your prescription, so they had to add in the rest from a new supplier. The FDA classifies this medication as an SNRI antidepressant. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings an...

Ihave been taking both drugs for quite some time but only recently have lost my sense of taste and smell and instead taste and smell only a metallic taste. Also take vitamin c, vitamin B-6 and B-12. I stopped taking everything and my taste and smell have improved but my depression and insomnia hae returned. please advise ## Effexor XR contains a time released formulation of Venlafaxine and it appears that both it and the Mirtazapine can cause taste loss, in some people. Have you discussed the problem with your doctor? You may need a dosage adjustment or require a switch to different medications. There are others on the market that you can try. In addition, they both cause dry mouth, which can also aggravate the problem and cause the metallic taste. ## it is probably the remeron. these m...

I have taken Venlafaxine XR Capsules - 2 150 mg per day (a high dosage). They were made by the same manufacturer for the first 3 or 4 years. Then, my insurance company switched to the manufacturer Aurobindo. Since then, I have had severe joint and muscle pain, primarily in my arms, but also somewhat in my hands. This pain is so severe that without aspirin, Tylenol, or Aleve, I can barely reach or lift things. Could this pain be due to the change in manufacturerr of my Venlafaxine XR? ## Hello, Debra! How are you? How long have you been taking the one from Aurobindo? Usually, those types of symptoms would be side effects experienced, when first starting such a medication, or when your dosage is raised, as reported by the FDA. When I first started Prozac and each time we upped my dosage, ...

Hi, I am on Lamitor 100mg daily and Venlor 37.5mg also daily. Which of these has killed my libido? Or is it both? (Horror!!) Thanks. ## Hello, Fiona! How are you? It occurs very commonly as a side effect of the Venlor, which contains Venlafaxine, as reported by the FDA, so that is the most likely culprit. You may also experience nausea, headache, dry mouth, weight changes and hypotension. You may want to consult your medical provider about trying a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi Verwon, Thanks for that. I have since stopped the Venlor and my libido has almoat normalised again so you were tight.. 90% main culprit. i am on 75mg of venlafaxine per day. Are there any over the counter diet pills should stay away from? Specifically abidexin ## Hello, Shan! How are you? Actually, there is a possibly dangerous interaction between Venlafaxine and one of the ingredients in Abidexin. The green tea that's in it, when combined with the Venlafaxine can increase your risk of bleeding, so it is best not to take it. As to other diet pills, it would depend on their specific ingredients. Venlafaxine is an SNRI that's used to treat depression and anxiety. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes.
