Side Effects Of Methylprednisolone

I was just prescribed methylprednisolone 4mg for ringing in the ears. After reading so many negative reviews I'm afraid to take it. Is there something else I could take with fewer side effects? ## Hello, Mar! How are you? This actually is the steroid that's known to cause less side effects and problems than the others. And you also need to remember that the negative reviews are only left by a very small number of people that have actually taken it. The larger percentage take it without a problem and thus, have no reason to be hunting up a website like this to look for more information on it. I took it myself last year for a cyst and the worst effect I had was a slight blood pressure and heart rate elevation for a few days. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was put on the 6 day methylprednisolone pack because of a back injury. I just took my first two tablets this morning. After I took them, I read its bad to take with high blood pressure. I have high blood pressure and take lisinopril for this but it doesn't always control it. Would I be okay just not to take any more of the pills? I only took the two, that's all. I ended up at the ER thinking I was having a heart attack. So I didn't take the last two pills of my dose pack. It has now been a full week after my last dose, and I am still struggling with insomnia, nausea, dizziness, muscle weakness, loss of appetite, heart pounding and high bp. I was prescribed the 4mg pack to help me with neck and shoulder pain. As soon as I finished the last pill, my blood pressure shot up to 170/100, my ears started ringing and whirring, my head started aching, and my appetite dropped. This is my second day on this drug and it was wonderful the next day after taking it. Took it for awful pain just below my neck and pain in lower back. Horrible for RA.
