Side Effects Of Celexa

My doctor put me on celexa 20 mg 6 months ago and the side effects were just too much. I have an irregular heartbeat for many years that was never a problem until I began this medication. When I asked him about this he for some reason became very defensive and said celexa had nothing to do with it and to keep taking it. I ended up firing him and I now have another doctor who says celexa will cause problems with someone who does have an irregular heatbeat. He's weaned me off of it, but the side effects are still there. I'm experiencing terrible mood swings I'm having a difficult time controlling, I also for lack of a better word-space out. I had the same side effects while on this medication. Could anyone tell me when I will even out again? I've only been off of it for a ...

I am 57 years old and about a year ago began taking lorzapam for anxiety (additional stress with work situation - layoffs and bankruptcy of the co). I learned that lorazapam was addictive, so I talked to my dr about changing to a different med. She receommended zoloft, but I didn't feel as tho I felt the way I should, so now I'm taking Celexa. I'm feeling better after taking it for the last couple of months, although I really dislike the dry mouth and weight gain. I used to walk 3 miles a day 5-6 days per week and lost about 12 lbs. After changing from the lorzepam to zoloft and now to celexa, I have gained about 8 lbs. back. I lost the initiative to talk my walks. I also feel that I crave foods high in carbs (never even had cravings during pregancy). Do others of you face t...

I am taking 40mg of Celexa and was switching to Wellbutrin. I followed the doctors orders of slowly decreasing the Celexa and started on Wellbutrin 100mg. The first day I started this I experienced a lethargic mood. I didnt feel any need to move, I could have just sat there and stared at the wall all day and that would have been fine with me. The second day was the exact same. The third day I didnt take the Wellbutrin. Thats when I finally got up and called the doctor. The doctors say this is odd and it may have to do with tapering off the Celexa. But on the third day I was still on a lower dose of Celexa but felt like normal. The doctors want me to try this again and I'm wondering if anyone has heard of this happening and if the effects I felt would taper off or not? Thanks So Much...

Good Morning, I started on 10mg Celexa (Citalopram) at the end of May 2015. Two weeks into the medication I had sever nausea. I could not keep anything down. This has been non stop to this day and Doc wouldn't prescribe me nausea medicine. 4 weeks into Celexa and I had my first anxiety attack. I have only had one once before in my life before I started antidepressants. A few days later another attack would occur that kept me from leaving the house on my birthday. I have trouble falling asleep now and I constantly feel weak and faint. I went back to my Doctor for a check up and he insisted I try 20mg and then also prescribed me .5 Xanax. I tried the 20mg for a few days, but the side effects were too intense. I cut back to 10mg for a week and now I have decided to wean myself off of C...

I got Sandoz for the first time. Taken many other generics over the years. I have been awake for 48 hours. Can not sleep just lay in bed. I'm on 10mg four times daily. Last one taken 9 hours before. Racing thoughts and pointless projects since taking them. Feels some what the same when I tried crystal 10 years ago. Tried neighbors ambian to sleep, no effect. Anyone else have these issues? Obviously I'm calling DR in the morning. Other meds: lamectial 400mg, 40 mg Celexa, 5 mg percacet, 20 mg flexerall was told by dr low dose pain killers were safe w/ adderall. Took pain killers and other generic brands no side effects. What's going on with me? ## Hello, John! How are you? So, your got the Sandoz generic for Adderall? It may be a little stronger than what you're used to t...

I just went up on celexa to 35 mg from 30mg will I have side effects again ## Hello, Bibby! How are you? Yes, you may experience some side effects from raising the dosage. The FDA classifies this medication as an SSRI antidepressant and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain, dry mouth and mood swings. However, with such a small dosage change, they will most likely be mild and transient. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been on celexa for roughly about 3-4 weeks, I've been talking a little in my sleep and I'm very jumpy. I've also been having vivid nightmares. I take 20mg in the morning.. I'm kinda worried about the jumpiness I get scared so easily! Someone can walk up behind me and I can know their behind me (most of the time) turn around and still get scared! ## Hello, Gale! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having. SSRI antidepressants, such as Celexa, are listed by the FDA as being known to cause REM onset latency, which explains the odd sleep issues. It can also cause some anxiety for awhile, while your body is getting used to the medication. The good news is that such side effects are usually transient and tend to go away anywhere between ...

This is hell. I'm having rage, and I mean RAGE attacks! I've been off Celexa for about one week. I weaned myself off of Celexa, while replacing it with St. John's Wort. I'm taking 2800 mg SJW to offset no Celexa, and it definitely is helping. But the rage attacks are scary. Really scary. Like road rage type scary. Help. ## While St. John's Wort is said to help with depression, and anxiety, it does not actually replace a prescription medication, since it's efficacy is not clinically proven, nor are its effects comparable to a prescription medication, in spite of the claims that are made about it. That is also a very high dosage to be taken of it, generally it is not recommended that someone take more than 1,200mgs of it per day. Thus, the greatest chance you are f...

I would like to know if anyone has had problems taking Baclofen and celexa together, I I am on 60 milligrams of Baclofen a day due to a back surgery. I just started Celexor 1 week ago 20 milligrams, and I am not sleeping well. ## Hello, Rhonda! How are you? Actually, it is most likely just due to starting the Celexa. SSRI antidepressants are well known to cause sleep disturbances for about the first 4 to 5 weeks of taking them, while your body is getting used to the medication. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hello all, I am currently taking 40mg of Celexa, and have been for about 7 months. I originally started taking it because I had pretty bad anxiety and I would "worse case scenario" things in my head. The celexa seemed to stop these things fairly quickly, but now I have started on 25mg of Adderall XR after being diagnosed with ADHD (im 15). The Adderall helps me to focus and my grades have been rising, the original stress and anxiety was from school and grades. I think I would like to stop taking the Celexa because I feel like I don't really need it anymore and some of the side effects scare me. Like I said I tend to worse case things, and I guess im a bit paranoid (not to the crazy extent though) about some things. After seeing stories in the news about these tragic mass mur...

I've been taking Citalopram 20 mg for two weeks now, for anxiety. It took around 7 days to kick in, but I suffered anxiety symptoms in second week and had a very mild stomach ache and bloated feeling. Has anyone had a similar experience? ## Citalopram, the active ingredient in Celexa, is an antidepressant. It can take several weeks to reach its full effect and help relieve your anxiety, if it does not work in the next 1 to 2 weeks, please make sure to contact your doctor. And yes, the things you are experiencing can be normal side effects of this medication, you may also experience symptoms that include dizziness and headache. These should all taper off as your body adjusts to the medication. You can read more on it here: Is there anything else I can help you with?

My 16 year old son takes this in the pm. He is hard to get up in the morning, but he is cooperative. He sleeps in all of his classes, and when I pick him up from school, he is a maniac. Shouldn't he be taking a lower dose throughout the day? ## white round pills with 208 on one side and i/g on other side---has name celexa on it but doesn't look like the ones I was taking last month. ## This tablet does contain 40mgs of Citalopram, a generic for Celexa, an antidepressant. My guess would be your pharmacy just used a different supplier this time, since each companies pills have to look different and have different markings. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and headache. You can read more about this medication here: Is there anything else I...

I have been takong celexa for 7 days for anxiety. Well my anxiety is far worse from before and lets just say I havent slept in days, which I never had an issue with sleeping either. Can I stop taking cold turkey since its only been 7 days, or do I have to taper off? ## After only 7 days, you can most likely just stop, but you should double check this with your doctor, to be safe. In most cases, I'd try to encourage someone to stick it out for a month or so, because side effects tend to taper off around that time as your body gets used to a medication, however, increased anxiety and insomnia are two of the most difficult problems to live with, so this most likely just isn't the right medication for you. There are others you can try, so you may want to talk to your doctor to explo...

I've all ways been scared to take new meds. I know this is a low dose, I'm scared I will get sick. What is your expirence? ## What did you end up doing? Did you start taking it? However, there is no way to know how any medication is going to affect you, because we are all different. Learn more Celexa details here. I took citalopram 20mg two days in a row without being prescribed it. I learned that I can't just stop taking it whenever, so I wanted to stop now before my body becomes accustomed to it. Will I have any major problems with this? ## Hello, Phil! How are you? No, there shouldn't be any major problems after just two doses, but if you're concerned, please speak to your doctor. Celexa is an SSRI antidepressant and stopping them abruptly, after being on them for awhile, risks causing rebound anxiety and depression. Typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can anything happen taking both? ## Hello, Dee! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between these two medications, but it's always best to double check to be sure. I take 20 mg of Coreg cr at bedtime and would like to take celexa 5 mg at night also to see if it makes a difference in the weight gain I am experiencing with the Celexa. ## Hi, Carla! Sorry about the problem you're having. However, I really don't think that taking it at night is going to change the side effects that the Celexa can cause. If they're happening, they're going to happen and SSRI antidepressants are very well known for causing weight gain. Once you take it and are on it for awhile, so it's reached its efficacy level in your body, changing the time of day you take it, isn't going to stop it from occurring. If it's really becoming a problem, then you'd be better served to speak to your doctor about trying a different medication. There are some ...
