I have been on Lexapro 10mg for 4 days.. Terrible nausea, diarrhea, clenching jaw. Has anyone felt this? Also my hands are lightly shaking. Wondering when it will stop? I do not feel better yet at all. I was prescribed it for depression and major anxiety. ## HI, Kelly! Sorry that you're feeling so awful. Side effects that severe are not normal and you should contact your doctor as soon as possible. I think this just may not be the right medication for you to take. Some mild nausea and diarrhea are normal, but not severe nausea and the clenching jaw can sometimes be the sign of a severe reaction. ## I had the same reaction, even to the point of possibly being hypomanic, but I enjoyed it. my pupils dilated, sweat constantly, became shaky, felt like I had the flu....it all subsides and...

I have just started taking Lexapro...second day and wow...side effects for me! Heart burn, insomnia, tremors (shaking on inside & outside), nautious, sweats and at times arms feel like they're burning.. If anyone has had these side effects...did you change or continue with Lexapro and did the side effects calm down? ## Hello, Kiara! How are you? I'm sorry about how you're feeling. Those tremors, however, are concerning and you should speak to your doctor about them. That's not a normal side effect as listed by the FDA. The nausea, sweating, insomnia, heartburn and etc. are expected, however. Is there anything else I can help with? ## And this is a typical thing I have seen. The government wants us ALL off of "addictive" meds like benzo's but Lexapro withd...

Hi all, I was wondering about the side effects from the generic Lexapro: Escitalopram 10 mg/daily. I used to take clonazepam for a few years and then switched to escitalopram, which I took for about six months when I dropped in cold turkey last year. Now, I am back on it, and the side effects are awful. I don't remember them being this bad. The dizziness, nausea, inability to concentrate and drowsiness is beyond belief. Is anyone else having the same problems? Do the dizziness and drowsiness ever go away? I have a very upbeat job and can't afford to not have energy during my 10-12 hour shifts. Also, I keep falling asleep during the day and I never take naps! I was put back on for my anxiety, not depression, and now I feel numb. Can someone relate to anything I'm saying? ## Y...

I've been taking it for about a month and feel sooo much better. The only side effect I've experienced is loss of sexual desire ## I would rather have the feeling of well being than sex. To have both would be great but ya can't always get what you want. ## Try Cymblata..It is a new Antidepressant on the market..results are good ## well i have been taking lexapro for awhile and the first week it made me really sleepy and the no desire thing too but after some time i couldn't tell it was working anymore ## I started having panic attacks 2 yrs ago. I just recently decided to try Lexapro 10mg nine days ago. My OBGYN recommended this for me to try if I wanted to because for 2 weeks out of every month before my period my hormones are completely out of it. I'm an emotional roller coaster. So, I thought what could it hurt to try. My experience has been awful with Lexapro. The very first day of taking it, I could not sleep, I felt very sick to my stomach. Second day.....still sick to my stomach, couldn't sleep and ringing in my ears. By the 4th day on this med all the side effects above including feeling like I have to bite down hard, grinding of the teeth, and cannot climax when me and my husband are having intercourse. Me and my husband are extremely intimately active with each other (5x a week) It's awful in my opinion. A...

Hi there, I am a 40 yr old woman, who started taking Lexapro about 3 to 4 weeks ago, starting on 5mg for the first 2 plus weeks, then increased it a few days ago to 10mg as directed by my Dr. My history of depression is this: I feel I have dysthymic disorder with major depression disorder tendencies. I have suffered a few bouts of severe reactive depression as a result of some considerable life stressors in the past, which then, you could say, turned into simple Major Depressive Disorder. At one of these times I took Lexapro with good effect. I think I have been depressed (often mildly) for years, but struggled through. I also have considerable anxiety, which has plagued me for 10 plus years, generally focusing on my health. Before biting the bullet and seeing a Dr this time, I was cons...

I started lexapro for anxiety and hot flashes. Was given 20mg but only took 10mg to start. I took this for 3 days. It did help with the anxiety and no hot flashes. HURRAH! However by the 4th day, I broke out in an itchy red rash and welts over my entire body including my scalp and face. I stopped the Lexapro immediately. By the fifth day, my face and hands were very swollen. It took 4 days for the rash to go away and the swelling so I thought I was out of the woods. Since then, I feel like I have a heavy chest, something stuck in my throat, dizziness, foggy and heavy head and pressure in my ears. I was wondering whether these are actually withdrawal symptoms even tho I had only been on Lexapro for 3 days. Anyone else have these reactions????? ## Hello, Taz! How are you feeling? Have you...

I need to get of Lexapro because of the side effects but understand the withdrawl is a horror ## Hi Kate, Usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them. In addition to that, I'd also suggest making yourself a tapering schedule on a calender to track your progress and keep you on the right path to complete your goal within a specific time frame. Without a way to track your progress, tapering can sometimes be much more difficult than it needs to be. I hope this advice helps! ## I just started Lexapro, normal spoken side e...

I have been taking Lexapro 10mg once a day for about a year. I have had many unwanted side effects which according to my doctor there are very few side effects from Lexapro. He says it is a clean drug. Wrong. It did nothing to help me and I want off. My doctor refused to give me anti-anxiety meds to help with the withdrawals from Lexapro because once again, there are no withdrawals from Lexapro. Why do doctors lie about this. Why do pharmaceutical companies lie about this? I have read so much about people just losing it while trying to stop taking Lexapro. I have not taken it in about ten days after weaning off for about two months from 10mg to 2 mg a day. My nerves are a wreck, I am extremely irratable, and have slight headaches. This is a horrible drug with many long lasting withdrawa...

I took Lexapro for 4 years and have been off it for 6 years. I was reading some of the symptoms and withdrawal symptoms of Lexapro and I still have some of those at least a few times a month. I have horrible sugar cravings and have had a very hard time loosing weight. I gained 20 pounds off the bat and the sugar cravings were ridiculous. Now that I am off it, I still can not loose the weight, and I still have horrible sugar cravings. I am very active, eat healthy. Along with a few other symptoms. Anyone else have symptoms after being off Lexapro for years? ## After being off of it for years, you should not still be experiencing side effects or withdrawal effects from this medication, according to FDA reports, they usually tend to improve and go away, after about a month, or so, of stopp...

Hi. I have been on lexapro for about 3 weeks, starting out on 5mg to lessen any side effects. But I noticed after about the first couple of doses I was feeling back to my normal self and loving it. I had no side effects at all after a week so started taking the full 10mg. Still no side effects. I feel amazing, totally back to my happy and positive self. I am actually sleeping really well which for me is unheard of (so if that's a side effect I hope it stays) but maybe it's just because my mind is not racing with a million silly thoughts. Just wanted to say that lexapro is doing exactly what it should for me and I hope of people do have side effects that they stick it out because it will be worth it:) ## Hello, Shannon! How are you? I am very glad that it's working so well fo...

I have been on anti depressants for some 11 months, first on Lexapro and for about 4 months on Cymbalta. My word, Cymbalta are so much better FOR ME! Yes I get the insomnia but have found taking Phenergan helpful, taking 25mg probably most nights. I can work well, do gym walking, and to be honest, function quite normally. My anxiety levels go out of whack, say once a fortnight, usually lasts a day but with the support of my wife, and friends it passes quickly. Just call people up, be honest how you feeling and the ones who really care and understand will help you through that day. The most helpful source of hope for me? Reading the Bible and knowing that we have a hope in Jesus Christ. ## Thanks for taking the time to share your experience on Cymbalta and Phenergan. I'm sure many pe...

By the prescriptin of Doctor I have started taking Fludac (flouxetine) for my depression. It is 17 days since I have started taking it. In the past four days I observe a tendency of vomiting, lack of proper sleep and dizziness. Would these symptoms last? If so, would you advise me any solution so that I would continue taking Fludac so that I may get some relief from my de[pression? Thank you Fikremariam Abebe From Ethiopia ## I am not a doctor and I don't know anything about your total health, so I cannot say whether or not your specific symptoms will last; however if the side effects are unbearable then I would suggest asking your doctor about switching medications. I had severe anxiety problems for the first time in my life late last year and found it very difficult to function. I tried for four months to fight it on my own and by using Ativan. I knew Ativan was not a healthy long term answer but was bothered by the prospect of using a SSRI. Finally with no progress I decided to start using Lexapro as I had heard it had the least amount of side effects and had the least withhdrawl symptoms when ceasing the medication. I noticed some progress within 2 weeks and was 100% anxiety free after 5 weeks. Today I feel "normal" and am anxiety free. I have been taking 10mg Lexapro for a little over 2 months. My doctor wants me to continue it for the next 6 months and then I will wean off of the drug. I have gained some weight while taking it but must...

I have been on suboxone now for just under a month. I think it is an amazing drug, i have had no cravings or interest in returning to opiates, my drug of choice was oxy. I get up every day feeling happy, and am able to take on what ever the day brings me. I am also on lexapro for depression at this time. There is one problem after i take my dose, which is 8 mg. twice a day, I am extremely tired sometimes to the point where if i sit down I will nod off, so I keep moving and can usually fight through it. I am wondering do other people feel this way or does it get better the longer you are on it? Two other things that are sometimes very bothersome are dizzyness and extreme dry mouth. I just wanted to find out other peoples experiences. Thanx ## Hey yea I get the same nod as you, it starts ...

Lexapro is a miracle for me. I have a panic disorder for being in small groups or large crowds. Those panic attacks have disappeared. My energy level is low but I feel much more positive. So I have been on Lexapro 10mg for a few years and I didnt feel as if it was helping me at all. Plus I was always tired and gaining weight. My doctor suggested switching to wellbutrin. He told me to take a 150mg wellbutrin and lower my Lexapro dose to 5mg for 2 weeks, then to take 300mg wellbutrin and stop Lexapro. I am almost at the 2 week make and I feel like I have so many side effects and I don't know if it's withdrawal or the new meds, or a combo of both, or maybe I am getting sick? I have headaches, nausea, loss of appetite, lightheaded, out of it, dry mouth, stomach pain, gas, jittery, and heart palpitations at times. I'm afraid to start the 300mg and stop the Lexapro in a few days. Do these sound like symptoms of the withdrawal and starting up those drugs? Its not go...
