I have fibromyalgia. Has anyone ever taken tramadol when they were on gabapentin, zoloft, and lorazepam? ## Hi, Yellowrose. The only thing with the meds you listed is taking the tramadol with Zoloft as they both work on the serotonin receptors and they may cause a serotonin reaction....or toxicity. I can't remember the exact name for it.....my brain froze on that one.....look it up though. The side effects of this include confusion, anxiety and some other aspects of this combo in which you should visit your ER if any of the side effects appear....especially the confusion. They will need to stop your medications and give you other meds to combat the reaction. You would probably need to spend the night in the hospital for them to do this so you are safe. I took tramadol 50mg, 6/day an...

I started using nustrate on the 1st of november and had intercourse 1 day after. Could I get pregnant, or does the injection become effective immediately after being shot? ## Hello, Gabby079! How are you? That may have been too soon to prevent pregnancy, if you had already ovulated prior to getting the shot. Have you consulted your doctor? You should do so as soon as possible to be certain of what's going on.

I have been using Zanor SR 0.5mg for Anxiety and now my psychiatrist has given me Epleptin 100mg to take and so I am taking both Zanor and Epleptin in the morning and Epleptin again at night. My Dr wants to try and get me off Zanor as it is addictive but feel like since I have been taking Epleptin with the Zanor I have felt more anxious and was feeling much better without Epleptin. Dr says I must stay on it until I see him in 3 weeks time but don't know if I can handle it. Can Epleptin have this effect on a person? ## Hello, Karen! How are you? This medication is listed as containing the active ingredient Gabapentin, which is an anticonvulsant that has also been approved to treat some mood disorders and certain types of nerve pain. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizzin...

I have shingles and was given this cream. I complained about the nerve pain in my back and side but on the bottle it says to put on the lesions. That's not what is hurting me. Should I send it back (it's unopened) or try to rub where I'm hurting so much? ## Hello, Katruna! How are you? Yes, this would be specifically to treat the lesions, since it has the antiviral Acyclovir in it. The other two ingredients are Lidocaine and Gabapentin to help with pain. Its typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include skin redness, dryness, itching and irritation. It would be best to check with your doctor, before using it on other areas.

What is the compound DICL/GABA/LIDO/PRIL? ## As you mentioned, this sounds like a compounded medication. Based on the abbreviations, the active ingredients are most likely: DICLOFENAC - A nonsteroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID) / pain reliever GABAPENTIN - A medication which can be used to treat neuropathic pain LIDOCAINE - A local anesthetic used to numb tissue in a specific area PRILOCAINE - Also a local anesthetic, often combined with Lidocaine So, it seems like it would be a topical medication, is that correct? May I ask what this was prescribed for, and whether it has been effective? ## I put the cream on my ankle and noticed a tightening of the skin ever since I started using it. The soles of my feet also feel really tight. Are these known side effects? ## SEEKING A COMPOUND SALVE ...

Does anyone drink beer or other alcohol while taking this? I start on it tonight, increasing every 5 days to 900 mg total a day. I'm curious as to how much alcohol can be tolerated and if there are any reasons to avoid it completely. I like my Budweiser. Thanks for any input. ## Alcohol should be avoided while using this medication, especially at such a high dosage, because it can aggravate the side effects, making them much more problematic. These can include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and peripheral edema. You can read more on it here: Do you have any other questions? ## what are the bad things with this drug and alcohol? ## I've taken 3600mg of Gabapentin each day for 21 months now! I drink alcohol with them & feel ok. I would just say that the Gabapentin alone will l...

Is throwing up a side effect of gabapentin? Should I stop using this med? I have no idea if it helped for pain or not. ## Yes, it can cause that as a side effect in some people that take it, according to FDA reports. You may also experience dizziness, headache, mood changes, and weight changes. How much where you taking and how long were you taking it? Are you on any other medications?

I have started taking gabapentin 100mg twice a day. When is the best time to take it. Do the side effects go away or do you just have to put up with them? ## Hi sarah, Dosing schedules for Gabapentin are largely dependent upon your reasons for taking it. (i.e. - the usual adult dose for Epilepsy is as follows): Initial dose: 300 mg orally on day one, 300 mg orally twice a day on day two, then 300 mg orally 3 times a day on day three. Maintenance dose: 900 to 1800 mg orally in 3 divided doses. If necessary, the dose may be increased using 300 mg or 400 mg capsules three times a day up to 1800 mg/day. Dosages up to 2400 mg/day have been well tolerated in long-term clinical studies. Doses of 3600 mg/day have also been administered to a small number of patients for a relatively short durati...

My son is on Gabspentin, and also on Paxil, he is getting the blurry vision, do you know of drugs interactions that are negative? ## Both of these medications can cause dizziness as side effects, so that could account for it. Otherwise, I would ask how much Gabapentin he is taking? The blurred vision is usually only experienced by those who are taking to much. Has anyone spoken to his doctor about this? The only reported interaction between the two is that they both can cause depression of the central nervous system, so anyone using them together should be closely monitored by a doctor on a regular basis. I have COPD and taking gabapentin will it affect I my breathing I'm using it for muscle spasm in my leg ## Hello, Ron! How are you? In theory, it shouldn't, but there's never anyway to know how any specific medication will affect any given person that tries it. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, weight gain and anxiety. Did your doctor prescribe it for you?

Have been using gabapintin 1200mg-2000mg aday for oxcycodone withdrawals its helping but im afraid of becoming addicted to it, want to start weaning off and try clonidine... On day 4 will this be dangerous ## To answer your first question, I did find that there are (moderately unsafe) interactions between Clonidine and Gabapentin (so it wouldn't be wise to take a full dose of each one together). Information that I've gathered on this states the following: "MONITOR: Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially exc...

Can this topical cream affect your sleeping cycle??? Can it make you sleep a heavy sleep? ## Hello, JoAnn! How are you? No, it shouldn't. The medications may cause drowsiness as side effects, but you only absorb a little of them, when using them topically, so it shouldn't cause a deep, heavy sleep. For that to happen, someone would basically have to almost bathe in it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks so much. Can it be addictive? ## Hello, I just received a topical Cream Keta/Cyclo/GABA/Lido (10%/2%/6%/3.5%). I was told to put it in all places where I am experiencing pain and on the bottle it says: Apply 3 times daily for pain and/or muscle spasms as needed. *** PLEASE HELP ANYONE!!! *** I suffer from extreme nerve pain in my back. Been taking tramadol for over 15 years and it generally still works. My new Dr. has cut me back from using 4 a day to using 3 a day and 1 gabapentin at night. All the gabapentin is doing is making me oversleep every day. I cannot tell that it is helping me. I have tried to get off from tramadol several times but with no success. Each time I try to stop; I am bed ridden for a couple of days. Could you tell me why the Dr. would want to cut me back from tramadol and then try gabapentin? ## No, they are not the same. Gabapentin is actually classified as an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and mood swings. However, Tramad...

I am a paraplegic and my fusion is always swelling. I use the Clon/gaba/keta gel but it's very sticky and messy. How long does it take to absorb? Can I wipe it off after a certain time and get the dosing I need? ## It is usually not advisable to wipe it off, since the absorption time can vary from person to person. However, if I were you, I'd be checking with the pharmacy to see what they are using, when they compound it, as that seems rather odd, it should absorb, just like an other cream. Are they making it like an ointment? If so, that naturally takes longer to absorb and is often sticky. Is it helping you? Have experienced any of the typical side effects, such as skin redness, irritation, or flakiness? ## Is it really that sticky?
