I am taking metolar 25 twice a day for the last 26 years. I am 71 now. I would like to know the possible side effects so that I can inform my doctor who keeps on telling me not to stop it. ## Hello, Sunny! How are you? Since, two years I have been taking these two medicines regularly. Now, I hope there are side effects. The problem is my hands & legs gets numb when I sit or lay atleast for 10/20 minutes in the same position. I am 59 and a diabetic for the past 7 years. I am also having high bp. I am 5'8" and weigh 68 kg. Generally my fbs/pps readings are n the range of 130/140, but for 2 months I have been getting readings of 150/160 and hba1c is 7.2. Up till now I have been using glycomet gp1 in the night and glycomet 250 in the morning for the past 3 years. I am taking care of my sister and she is 83 she is so hard to wake up At times and I sometimes have to raise my voice to get her awake. I have been out of nursing since 88. I am experiencing symptoms similar to those on a bad smog day. I smell what seems to be strong exhaust; my eyes burn/tear, my throat gets scratchy, and my lungs feel irritated. My father is taking Metolar XR-25 for high blood pressure for last 6 years. Now he is feeling getting headaches, gets unconscious for some time, and after vomiting he feels little better. I have been taking metoprol for about 9 months. Ever since I started on this drug my toes at night tingle, feel numb, and when I get up to use the bathroom, my toes look blueish purple.
