If you were up on 30mgs and your body has gotten used to taking that dosage and you suddenly dropped down to 10mgs, then it is not going to help your pain anywhere near as much as the 30mgs did. I have had several pain intensive surgeries followed by Dr. prescrptions of Vicodin & Percocet on various occasions in the past. Each time I would have surplus meds (with dispose of dates listed on container) leftover after pain subsided. My question is do these meds have a shelf life where they become ineffective or worse, toxic? ## No, these types of medications do not become toxic, but they will start to lose effectiveness past the expiration date. What is the color? ## OXYCODONE 60 MG IS RED. OXY 80 MG IS GREEN. PERCOCET 15 = YELLOW, AND XANAX 1.0 IS PURPLE FOOTBALL SHAPED. THESE ARE JUST THE GENERICS MY PHARMACY DISPENSES, AND THEY CAN BE DIFFERENT COLORS FROM OTHER MANUFACTURERS. ## I stopped 8mgs of subutex or bupenorphine, 3 days ago. I took it for 6 months. How many years does oxycodone tablets last?? ## How many years will oxycodone tablets last and still be good to take? ## Well the latest box I got from the pharmacy (original brand-name, not generic) tells me that my 40mg OxyContin was made in May 2007 and expiry is May 2010, so we can assume three years although pills are normally pretty well OK for a year or so after the printed expiry date in my experience. ## 9 out of 10 meds don't expire ## To add some specifics and explain the reason for the different expiration dates, such as Michael mentioned….
