I was prescribed Seroquel for insomnia after Ambion and other medications did not work for me. He only wrote me 30 of the 50mg coated tablets, stating that I may find what works for me and that typically people need between 200-400mg's/daily. throughout the last week, I have been sleeping every night with only an hour or two of being awake throughout which is leaps and bounds from how I was before the Seroquel. I've stopped taking this medicine as it was very helpful in getting me through a rough few years. I have 107 200 mg pills left. I've been taking seroquel xr 200mg x 2 a day. I've been taking it for a year and a half now and I'm wanting to have a baby but I'm scared to death of the withdrawals. I've read some scary stories as well as dangers of the drug I wasn't aware of. Any advise/suggestions? ## Hello, Niki! How are you? I would suggest consulting your doctor. They will be able to help you with a proper and safe way to taper off of the medication, before you become pregnant. That would be far better than trying to get ideas on internet. My Dr. started me at 300mg on Seroquel is this a safe dose. Im scared to take it. ## I have read that seroquel can be prescribed for up to 600 mg but I have never heard of 300 to start. My pdoc started me at 50mg for two nights, then Im supposed to increase it by 50mg every two nights until we get to 200 mg. Im a 5ft 5 1/2inc woman who weighs 130. Maybe the dosage is depending on your weight- I don't know. ## No. Seroquel, Seroquel XR and other meds have a dose schedule. Look for "prescribing info" from the manufacturer. For Seroquel XR the dose info is clear. The 1st day you take a low dose (50mg). Increase dosage each day. On day 4 take 300mg . If you miss a few days, lower your dose and start over. Take the smallest dose that works or do not take an Antipsychotic.

I suffer from major depression disorder and cymbalta 60 mg was not enough to take care of it. Then my doctor prescribe me resperidone 2 mg as a Add on treatment. Then she increased the reperidone it to 4 mg then week later took me of the resperidone and switch me to seroquel 200 mg then she switched the dose to 300 mg but when she sent the prescription to the pharmacy she sent the seroquel XR 300 mg. Hi I have Bipolar 1 disorder and have been on Seroquel for about 7 yrs. Over this time I have gained 80 pds. The weight gain has caused severe high blood pressure. I am also concerned about diabetes. It seems impossible to lose weight while on it. I am very worried about my physical health along with being ashamed of my appearance. My PDOC says I need it to stay stable. what is stable if it kills you first. In May of 2007, I Had a mental break, became parinoid and manic, I went to local mental health office, and ASKED for help, because I felt like I was losing my mind. In 2009, I went to have a "simple elective procedure." I ended up almost dying. I was diagnosed with Malignant Hyperthermia. Is it safe to take Seroquel? They wanted me to go to UCLA for further testing, I was told that it involved quite a bit of pain. I chose not to go through with it. Not sure what I should avoid. Hello, I have been on the following dosages of Seroquel for some anxuety issues: 2005-2010: 200 mgs at bedtime 2010-2011: 100 mgs at bedtime since 2012 to now (early 2013) I have been on 50mgs of Seroquel at bedtime. Hi! I've been taking Seroquel 200mg for 3 weeks and it's been alright, but something is happening at night that's become a concern. I wake up feeling like my chest is tightening, and I can't get comfortable. It's hard to explain. I just feel a tightness throughout my body, and my body keeps tossing and turning due to discomfort. Anyone else have a similar reaction? Is this normal? ## The FDA does report that this medication has been known to cause chest pain as a side effect in some people that take it, along with muscle aches, inability to sit or lie still, restlessness, and weight changes. Are you on any other medications? Anytime it concerns chest pain, it is always best to have it checked out by your doctor to be safe.

i thought i was out and i found a old bottle of seroquel dated by pharamic 8/24/ 2009 to 8/24/2010 can i take it till my new one comes in the mail it takes a week ## You should check with your doctor, or pharmacist to be certain. Most pills do not get dangerous past their expiration date, but they can lose efficacy, so they may not work as well as they did when they were new. Have you consulted your doctor?
