I went to a neurologist and had an EEG with a temporal lead done and it came out abnormal. The reason I had gone there is because I have been experiencing episodes of dizzy spells and lightheaded ness without actually fainting and at times pain in the face/ mild headaches and at times tingling sensations. In one or two of the episodes I would also temporarily get disoriented. Whenever these episodes happened and they would last anything from a few minutes to about 15-20 min I would always get better by standing and walking about and also drinking lots and lots of water. My doctors have at times thought it was cardiac related and or inner ear relatedbut my tests in that were quite n normal. I also had a regular EEG done a month before this latest one and it came out normal. I also had an...

Can you take LAMICTAL, AND TOPAMAX FOR SEIZURES, COULD I STILL USE PHENTERMINE ? ## Phentermine is actually contraindicated with any type of brain disorder, or injury. Therefore, if you suffer from a disorder that causes seizures, it is probably not advisable that you take it. Have you discussed it with your doctor? ## If this is a 2-part question ('Can I take Lamictal and Topamax for seizures....), the answer is most certainly YES. I was on the same dual regimen for several years, with excellent seizure control. My Neuro d/c'd the Lamictal, as she was very "rash-hypervigilant". Terrified of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. I developed a rash (bilateral lower legs, not consistent w SJS) and she took me off the Lamictal. The beginning of the end as far as drug effects are concer...

My son is suffering from seizures. From last five years he was on eptoin (syrup 12 ml a day). Last February doctors advised us to stop his eption and in July he has suffered a seizure. Now what to do? Why the attack came back after 5 years and 5 months? This time my son felt a twitch in his left leg and left hand and started jerking. Earlier he used to jerk his hands and legs only. Are these signs of any big complication?

what are the results like being on Lamocagine and Vimpat for Partial complex seizures ## Hello, Rjm! How are you? The FDA lists the typical side effects are possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and weight gain. Most people who are on them for a long period of time also develop some memory loss. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was on 300 MG of lyrica for 5 weeks for nerve pain from my MS. It did work but 2 weeks ago I had 5 days of 4-5 seizures a day and was admitted to the hospital. After EEG. And video monitoring I was found to not have epileptic seizures The dr said it was from Lyrica and the seizures stopped after 2 days of being off of Lyrica. Have you heard of this? I would like to restart it ad it helped but am a bit hesitant. The whole episode put me into an MS flare up also do am recovering from that too. Thanks ## Hello, JJ56! How are you? There are two possibilities as to the cause… Lyrica is actually an anticonvulsant, which means that conversely, it can sometimes cause seizures in some people that take it. The second possibility is that you accidentally missed one or more doses, because a...

I took roaccutane in 1996 and again in 1997. Each time was for around 6 months. I had a 6 minute tonic clonic seizure in August 2011 and another one in January 2012. I'm wondering whether this is related, although it is a big gap. Has anyone else developed seizures 15 years or so after finishing roaccutane? ## YES....I Hate to Even Admit it..But..I have had several Seizures....Some lasting 15 minutes...It is Like being trapped inside a body that will not work..or even perform the simplest tasks....I could see...and realize..I was drueling...but my right arm was contorted..and my left arm was basically rigid....I believe it is About time..We all find a way to form a network...of people...that can compare notes.....More aptly...than on here..Please contact Me. ## I can't say wheth...

Hello. My son is on 50mg Losartan for prevention of aortic root growth due to Marfan syndrome. After about six months of taking it, he started to experience episodes of feeling “funny.” This included brief nausea/drop in the pit of his stomach, dizziness, and a feeling like he didn’t want to move his arms and legs. In the recent past, this has progressed into what appear to be petit mal or absence seizures—brief periods of staring blankly and not responding. He still reports that sudden drop in the pit of his stomach preceding an episode and then a feeling of not wanting to move arms and legs. I asked his cardiologist if the Losartan could be causing those episodes and he was skeptical but agreed to take him off the meds for a week or so to see if they stopped. H...

My doctor prescribed Lyrica for severe nerve pain in my upper left leg. My specialist told me the pain is cause by my diabetes. At first, in June 2015 I was taking 75 mg., but to no effect. I took 150 mg., but again to no effect. In mid-July my doctor increased my dosage to 300 mg. I started having seizures. I decreased the dosage over a couple of weeks and stopped taking Lyrica. I took no more Lyrica, after mid-August. It is now in December and the seizures persist. Will these ever go away? I don't particularly want to take other drugs that will also cause such side-effects. Thank you. ## Hello, Mitch! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. If you stopped it months ago, then it should not still be causing seizures. Have you consulted a neurologist? It is po...

I was put on Lyrica for fibromyalgia pain and after about a week of starting, I developed seizures, was in a coma for 6 days, and almost died. Anyone else have similar experience? ## Hello, Sandy! How are you? Lyrica is actually an anticonvulsant, so it would be more likely to do that if you missed a dose, after taking it for awhile. There is also a chance that your seizure was unrelated to the medication. What did the doctors say caused it?

I just wanted to let people know that I felt the vets did a poor job of believing the secondary symptoms of zonisamide. My dog, Ivy, has been having seizures for over a year now and we started with phenobarb, which she is still on, Zonisamide about eight months ago. The Zonisamide made a small difference in the primary seizures but she started having dry mouth and coughing almost immediately, then after several months, reddish patches on her left side and sores inside on the right side of her mouth (much less on the left side of her mouth). Three or four different vets tried to tell me she was just going to bleed out and I should put her down. I demanded that we start Lyrica and gradually take her off the Zonisamide. Lyrica is more expensive, but I have found that the improvement is wel...

I've been taking Oxetol 900mg twice a day for the last 2 and a half years... Now that I am free from my seizure disorder, is it safe for me to decrease my dose? ## Hello, Aabid! How are you? If you have epilepsy, there is no cure, so stopping this medication could result in your experiencing seizures, again. What seizure disorder were you diagnosed with? The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, and mood swings.

My daughter is now on five different anti epileptics, last one added was Fycompa and everything has gotten worse. Many more partial seizures, extreme weakness, incoordination, and exhaustion. She now requires 2 to lift and help her ambulated. ## Hello, Wendy! How is your daughter doing? I'm very sorry about what she's going through. It would be best to check in with her doctor. In some people, some medications can cause the exact opposite of their intended purpose, so this might not be the right one for her to take. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, anger, aggression, changes in mood or personality, dizziness and loss of coordination. How often was she having seizures, before this medication was added?

My husband had been seizure-free for 14 months. Started taking Viagra & Cialis and he had a seizure about a week after the first time taking Viagra and has been having a lot of seizure activity since and feels terrible. He takes seizure meds, medical marijuana and other meds. ## Was he taking both of them at the same time? He should only have been taking one of them, under doctor's approval. However, the FDA does warn that they've both been known to cause seizures, or to increase the risk of seizures as side effects, along with priapism, and runny nose. What other medications is he taking?

I first took seizures just 5 weeks ago after having a small stroke. Doctor put me on Tegretol and I was hopeful that would be the end of the seizures. Now after just 5 weeks I have taken another seizure. I did have 2 bottles of beer and 2 tins of cider over 8 hours. Does anyone think this caused the seizure. ## Alchol, caffeine, TV, loud noises/music, stress, blinking lights, the spin of a roulette wheel, mahjong tile shuffling, even very hot baths - almost anything that negatively stimulates a brain prone to seizures can bring on a seizure.
