I am taking neurontin 800mg 2x's a day, amitriptyline 50mg at bedtime, indomethacine 50mg 3x's a day and tizanidine 4mg 2x's a day and my doctor just gave me lyrica 75mg 2x's a day. I am a 31 year old stay at home mom who has been diagnosed with RSD/CRPS 3 years ago and recently hurt my back. I would like to know if any red flags should be raised. I am worried for my childrens sake because they could be home with me when or if any bad reactions occur. Any advice? ## What is RSD/CRPS? ## RSD?CRPS is called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. It is nerve damage that causes my leg to be in constant pain. I can help ease my pain, but it will never go away. I have gone to several doctors and they say that everything that can be done, short of a spi...
17 REPLIES Filed under LyricaIs there anyone who has had RSD/CRPS FOR A LONG ENUFF TIME TO WHERE IT WAS UNDER CONTROL WITH MEDS AND MAINTAINABLE AND THEN ALMOST 20 YEARS LATER IT GOT JUST AS BAD IF NOT WORSE AS WHEN I FIRST HOT IT IN 1993..I NOW HAVE TO TREAT IT LIKE I DID BACK ALL THOSE YEARS AGO WITH THE HEAVY MEDS AND ALL THE PAIN N POLITICAL BS THAT IS GOING ON WITH MEDS AND DOC'S NOW...ANY SUGGESTIONS ON DIFFERENT DOSAGES OF MEDS THAT MIGHT WORK BETTER THAN BEFORE THAT I CAN BRING UP WITH MY NEW DOC. ## Ketamine. Also, Gabapentin and Lyrica are facing litigation and may soon disappear. ## Conditions such as RSD/CRPS tend to be degenerative, so it can be normal for things to worsen, as you age, and for you to require more aggressive treatment options. Your body also gets used to medications, as time passes,...
3 REPLIESI take Azulfidine for Rheumatoid A. but due to a severe crushed foot injury, I have now developed RSD/CRPS and am told anti-inflammatories will worsen RSD. Does anyone have any information on this subject? ## Hi Cassie, I did a little research to see if anyone else who has RSD/CRPS has had any success with natural remedies and I did read on a forum about a lady having success with acupuncture, chinese herbal teas, yoga, cranial sacral therapy, and even meditation! I've personally used acupuncture for a painful nerve in my foot and it really helped! I also read that lavender essential oil can be beneficial. Have you ever looked into using essential oils? If not, here is a link to a site that gives information about specific oils that work well for pain: experience-essential-oils.com/...
1 REPLY Filed under AzulfidineHow is hydramorphone and/or oxy hcl ir if I've been on MSIR 30, oxy 10/325, valium 10 3x day ## Hello Billy! How are you? What are the dosages of the Hydromorphone and Oxycodone? I'm sorry, but I'm unable to give you a comparison, without these additional details. Can you please post back and clarify? The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Valium also carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. ## Hydromorphone is Dilaudid. A step up in opiods. But the oral form is not nearly what the IV form for relief. Maybe a pain pump with Dilaudid? Bu...

Is there any Rx that you have/are taking either than Cymbalta that is helping w/RSD/CRPS pain? I have already tried trileptal, neurotin, gabitril and topomax which haven't helped the neuro pain. Open for any suggestions. Thanks. ## Hey there, I am in the earlier stages of RSD (but it still hurts like nothing I have experienced in my life before). The doctor prescribed me Lyrica and it has done wonders for me. Hoe that helps! ## Cymbalta works in a very similar way to Lyrica, so it has helped some people who are suffering from ...

2 REPLIES Filed under HydrocodoneHi, I have had Avascular Necrosis, and Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (stage 4). I have implanted Pain pump that infuses the medication directly into the Spinal Fluid. Over the past several years, I developed extremely "violent" itching. This itching leads to bruising in very large areas. I am also on Coumadin, currently 3mgs a day. I had two bouts with BiPulmonary Embolism(s) back in 1995-1996. I have been prescribed Atarax, Benedryl, and Allegra; all for this itching. I have used virtually OTC cream, spray, and additional Benedryl when I "flare up. This itch is driving me NUTS, and has gone through the same frustration of everything NOT working. I do have a "laundry list" of Meds, as well, other Medical problems that were diagnosed after my knee surgery. I need someo...
1 REPLY Filed under CoumadinCan you take belviq with rsd/crps?I have been taking this med since nov 2013 ## Hello, Nick! How are you? I'm very sorry about your medical conditions. There is a chance that the Belviq may make your more miserable. According to the side effect profile provided by the FDA, it has been known to cause body aches and pains, as well as nausea, dizziness, headache, blurred vision, diarrhea and rash. Has it been prescribed by your doctor?
1 REPLY Filed under BelviqCan anyone tell me if this has been used for treatment of pain due to RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) or CRPS (Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome)? Thanks for your response. Carol S ## Hello, Carol! How are you? I'm not finding anything on it being used for such. Has your doctor suggested it? ## No, I haven't been told by a doctor, but I've been researching possible ways to manage this disease for my daughter. ## No, I'm just following a thought process that possibly my daughter who has Reflex Sympathetic Dystropy, a nerve disease, was exposed to Malathion while she was living in our basement for 6 years with her family. (After a small injury as an EMT, the symptoms of RSD began. A small injury that isn't consistent with the pain of this disease usually signals the di...

1 REPLY Filed under Opanahas anybody with rsd or dyskinesia and myoclonic seizures ever tried reserpine and did it help them ## Has it been recommend that you try it for them? Learn more Reserpine details here. Due to its numerous side effects, it's not really commonly used to treat much of anything anymore, but it has been known to help treat the symptoms of dyskinesia, mainly for those suffering from Huntington's.
1 REPLY Filed under ReserpineI have RSD in both feet and after bladder lift surgery, have all symptoms of RSD in pelvic area. Am taking 6, 15mg morphin and 6 , 10/325 percocett a day plus I have an implanted pain pump with dilaudin in it and I have severe pain 24 hrs a day. Any suggestions to maybe a different type medicine or anything would be appreciated. I also take 4 , 1mg xnax a day and yes I can function. I have beeen taking this for 5 yrs and it does not touch my pain. I have about had it. ## Has your doctor had you try any of the anticonvulsants that have been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain, such as Gabapentin? Or Pregabalin? Many people have gotten very good results with them, so you may want to discuss that with your doctor. What else have you tried?
1 REPLY Filed under GabapentinI've had RSD/CRPS for 7 years. I was injured on the job and developed it soon after and it went whole body. I've been relocated from PA to CO. Billing is workman's comp in PA. I take minimal meds. 500mgs Lyrica per 24 hours. Or I can't get up to do anything. 50mgs amitriptyline at night for pain. It helps my legs be warmer, ie less pain and more sleep. For breakthrough pain, I take from 5-7.50mgs of oxycodone tablets. Capsules don't work for me at all. I will be out of meds soon and I haven't been able to get any sort of physician to see me. I have a letter coming to me, verifying my need for continued care and to certify the validity of the billing and court orders for workman's comp to pay. I also have Medicare and I don't feel comfortable using that fo...
2 REPLIES Filed under LyricaI have RSD in both legs due to several back surgeries. I was diagnosed in 1993 and have lived in pain for many years. My question is, I was doing pretty good with hydrocodone, Tylenol (7.5/3.25) ev 4 hrs. Even missing a dose every now and then, my RSD was mostly under control. I was changed to pill form (10/3.25) ev 6 hrs and ever since then (3 days ago), I have been in severe pain, in my legs and now under my feet. What made the difference? My pharmacist will not get the liquid form for me due to the cost to them. I may have to go out of town to get it. We live in a small town. ## Your pain might be do to the change in dosage timing, since you went from 4 hours to 6 hours, but it is hard to say. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, c...
1 REPLY Filed under HydrocodoneI have rsd/crps, my pain management physician is moving, my disease involves bilateral hands and feet, my right shoulder is bone on bone and is not repairable, i need to find a pain management physician in the kansas city or springfield mo area that utilizes a written contract for narcotic pain management ## Hello, Kay! How are you? Just a warning: If you contact places and ask them about prescribing narcotics, before you're a patient, most will view that as being drug seeking behavior and won't even let you get in the door. So, if you do get a good recommendation, you'll want to wait, until you are at an appointment with them, to discuss your treatment options. I'm not saying you're doing this, I'm just letting you know, in case. And with any doctor, there's...
2 REPLIES Filed under Pain ReliefI have been on Cymbalta for RSD/CRPS pain and my VA doctor wants me to switch to VENLAFAXINE HCL 75MG 24HR SA CAP. She is saying I do not need to dosage down off the cymbalta and to just start taking the VENLAFAXINE HCL 75MG 24HR SA CAP 2x's per day. I am concerned as I do not see anything in the listing for being used for nerve pain. Just for Depression. Can you please tell me if this is used for RSD/CRPS pain? My pharmacist states it will not be effective for the pain. I am not depressed and I am already taking 38 pills per day. ## Hello, Bobbette! How are you? Both of these medications are classified by the FDA as being SNRIs, which means you can switch cleanly from one to the other and they are both used to treat the same conditions. Typical side effects are listed as possibly i...
8 REPLIES Filed under VenlafaxineI have used oxycodone for years, rsd, and started the brand again several years ago during shortage. they worked so well I was able to drop from 240 to 180 in two months. Xanodyne 30mg. They sold to Mallencroft and are very expensive now. I tried a generic- Activis recommended by pharmacy. Not only did they NOT WORK they gave me severe anxiety - the same feeling I got when they tried to give me anti depressants for pain. Horrifying side effects- I was extremely anxious, had paranoia and negative thoughts, afraid to be alone. The pharmacy replaced with the brand but it took five days to get back to baseline with pain and psyche. I am terrified now of the generic but the brand are over 1,000 a month, half w/insurance. In the past I have been given all sorts of drugs to try for chronic pai...

I had shoulder rotator cuff repair, clavider bone removed last May. 4 or 5 nerve blocks; and carpal tunnel surgery this past Jan. (Lots of pain). It works wonders for my severe pain. Does have side effect for weight gain, but that's ok for me since I have a small frame. It relieves my pain. I am not able to work, but I do get great pain relief. I take 600mg a day. ## i need more info on this pill. i already weigh 232 ## hi im mark I have diabetes and shingles worst luck I also have back probs and old slit disc now the doctor put me on tramadol for over 4 years just found out that liver levels are low.. one doc said oh that's down to the drink?? from ten years ago??
