How long past the expression date are the pills still good to take? ## The pill in description contains a combination of Acetaminophen (325 mg) + Butalbital (50 mg) + Caffeine (40 mg); manufactured by Qualitest Pharmaceuticals Inc. From what I've read (according to a Harvard Medical School family health article), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. This conclusion was based upon a study conducted at the request of the US military due to stockpiles of expensive drugs they could otherwise need to replace every few years. The conclusion was that 90% of those drugs remained effective 10 to 15 years after the expiration date. I don't know whether or not the drug you have happens to be one of these drugs from the...

I found a new Dr. after dealing with another weak kneed PCP whom at first seemed a good choich as he took me over from a "pain doctor" that I went to for almost three years but was tired of the look down on you attitude they gave thier patients. I was on 50mcg of Fent patch every two days, 60qty 15mg roxicodone and 150qty 10/325 Norco. I was almost managable in daily life. The new PCP would not make any changes to address managing levels. My wife stated I was becoming an A hole since on the Fent not to mention my hair began to thin. I self weand off the patch due to this and fear of its high risk. white pill ## This pill is a 325 mg aspirin tablet. It is CVS Pharmacy brand, is uncoated, and is caffeine and sodium free. The only other ingredient in them is starch, which holds the pill together, as aspirin is very powdery. It's a value product, but while cheap, it is also effective. I bought a bottle of 1000 of these pills for 10 dollars. When I get a headache I take four of them, two 500 mg acetaminophen pills, and a 200 mg caffeine pill (caffeine speeds up the effectiveness of these drugs). If you've only got one of these, take it for a headache. If you've got ten bucks, go get another thousand. ## round white pill with large numbers 249 ## @derf yeltneb, Based on my research, the pill you have could possibly be the 325 mg Acetaminophen mentioned above, or Escitalopra...

This is generic Fioricet (Butalbital 325mg / Acetaminophen 50mg / Caffeine 40mg) pain medication prescribed for severe migraine and sinus headaches. It has been around for decades. It is not an opiate and this is not considered a "scheduled medication", (yet, the brand name of this medication "Fiorinal" IS labeled a schedule III controlled drug). It may cause drowsiness and it can be habit forming. (Photo here: Pill Image) ## Thank you for providing such a thorough pill identification, description and image for reference. For additional verification, I also wanted to add that this pill is reportedly manufactured by Alvogen Inc. and carries a National Drug Code of 47781-0536. found it at work could be someone med's? ## Hello, Wolf! How are you? Actually, I think what you've found is a 325mg Acetaminophen tablet, they also have another that contains 500mgs with the marking CFN-X. They are available under the trade name Cetafin and Cetafin Extra Strength. The FDA classifies this medication as an analgesic that is most commonly used to treat headache and fever. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. Can anyone else confirm this?

Im guessing the strength of this pill is less than any over the counter Tylenol.. 325 vs 500 ## Actually, both of the doses you listed are over the counter strengths. The original Tylenol was 325mgs, the Extra Strength is 500mgs and there is a time released arthritis formulation that contains 650mgs. Learn more Acetaminophen details here. The 325mg dosage isn't purchased as often, anymore, so it's seen less frequently in most stores, but it is still available. Doses over 4,000mgs in a day can be fatally toxic, so anyone taking it should be very careful not to exceed the recommended dosing guidelines. Is there anything else I can help with?

Is that like a percocet - yes or no? ## No, the tablet with the GPI A5 marking only contains 500mgs of Acetaminophen, it is equivalent to an over the counter extra strength Tylenol.
