I was told by my pharmacist today that brand name (Novartis)-ritalin 20 mg tablets sr (sustained-release), have been discontinued. I cannot find anything on the internet to confirm this. He filled one-third of the prescription and said to contact the doctor to decide what to do. He said ritalin capsules, 20 mg la (long-acting) is still available from novartis. Has anyone out there had any similar difficulties? This may cause problems with my insurance plan...or delays. I was on Adderall XR 30 mg, 3X/day for a long time until all the generics came out with the ineffective fillers and they became ineffective. My doctor then switched me to Ritalin 20 mg, 3X/day. They did help to perk me up. I'm on a heavy dose of morphine thru an infusion pump for chronic pain for almost 10 years. I called the office to tell them about the side effects I was having: INTENSE sweating, ANGER, mood changes. I was told to reduce the script to 1/2 pill in the am and 1/2 in the pm. This was a little too low so I take 1 tablet in the am and 1/2 in the pm. So far, this seems to be working well and the sweating has decreased almost 98%, anger is gone. I didn't have time to take my Ritalin this morning so I put it in a napkin and shoved it in my purse as I walked out the door. Unfortunately my water spilled and got in contact with the pill. This pill is nasty. It is described as SR by the manufacturer (slow or sustained release). I have been taking Millen 4 x 20 per day with no problems. Was this pill dispensed as a mistake by the pharmacy or by the doctor. I took less than two and didn't get a wink of sleep. Markings are Sandoz peach, scored, 790, SZ or ZS. The bottle says SR. I have been on Adderall 30 mg BID for years but can only take the COR generic and in my area all we have is Barr. I had a very bad emotional recation to it. My doctor switched me last month to Ritalin 20mg BID. I feel tired and like I am on Xanax all the time. So now he is going to switch me to Dexedrine. I am so fustrated because my Adderall work perfect. I take 20 mg of methylphenidate twice a day I have two kinds of pills I believe from two different manufacturers one is yellow withSZ 790 and the other is pink with R/33. I want to be sure they are the same medication (Ritalin) because I may have mixed them with another medication. I was diagnosed by two different physciatrists with severe ADD. I lose thing, I can't rememer dates, appointments, times, names. I am thinking maybe long acting Ritalin would help me more. I'm on 3 of the 20 mg Ritalin and I had to go for a month without them. I was more sick than when I quit Oxycontin. Why I went without the Ritalin is because my doctor went on vacation for a month and forgot to write me a refill. I never knew that Ritalin could make you feel such bad withdrawals. ## It is a stimulant and stopping such a high dose abruptly can cause withdrawal effects, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and chills. I am losing it trying to find a pharmacy other than CVS that carries the Sandoz brand of 20mg Methylphenidate hcl. I have tried most independent pharmacies and none of the major chains seem to have them. I called Walmart, Walgreens, Costco, Neighborcare, Riteaid, Safeway Pharmacy, SuperFresh Pharmacy, a bunch of small independents as well as a few epic pharmacies.
