What are the common side effects for a women with Bipolar Disorder on 3mg Risperidone. ## Hello, Olivia! How are you? The most common side effects associated with this medication include nausea, dizziness, somnolence, fatigue and weight changes. 3mgs is a pretty high dose, so I'd expect the somnolence and fatigue to be pretty pronounced on that dosage. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was on risperidone from 2002 to 2003 then quit because my dad doesn't believe I'm mental health. I have now started it again in 2011 to present. I am currently on 6 MG and have not had a period for over a year. Has anyone experienced this? I haven't been ovulating either. I want to have another baby and was wondering if I'll start ovulating again. I would quit taking it while pregnant but can't get pregnant while on it. Will it ever go away? Will I ever have another baby? Any advice and experience stories would be great. ## Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor? There may be other medications you can take that will allow you to cycle normally to get pregnant. Many of these antipsychotics can throw off the female menstrual cycle, but it usually returns t...

Hi. After nearly a year of arguing with my psychiatrist and CPN about coming off risperidone Consta, I'm suddenly told they can't make me take it, so I'm coming off cold turkey. My weight is 19 stone and distributed mainly around my gut, which I've heard is what antiphyschotics do. My question is, how much weight am I likely to lose after withdrawel? Admittedly my diet is fatty and sugary so I'll have to address that but for the moment I'm just wondering how much weight I'm expected to lose (I'm on the highest dose) Thanks people ?? ## Hello, Tom! How are you? There is really no way to say with any certainty, because it will depend on how much was caused by the medication and how much is due to your diet and there's just no way to really know that. Th...

I am on Sizodon for over 2 years now. Was previously on haloperidol for 15 years. Prior to the treatment I wasn't a very active person mentally. I went into psychosis while I was a teen. I am 38 now. With the help of the medication I am able to function well. But would like to know if the long-term side effects will affect me later in life. I want to wean from the medicine but I am scared whether I will be able to function well. Please advise. ## Think of how you feel now and how your doing before you change anything. It is far better to think logically, function daily than be off of medicine and be in a completely different mind state. ## Thanks for the reply Careon. I had undergone therapy for a long time, to get my mind clear of all that troubled me, and the doc was of the opinio...

i would like to know the withdrawal symtoms ## Well, drawing from my husband's experience with this medication, I can tell you some of them: insomnia, diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and irritability. ## I've been on Risperidone for years. Having the same s&s as you describe. I feel terrible. ## My son is going through withdrawal symptoms from this medication. He has uncontrolled movements all over his body, and extreme irritability. I was switched to risperidone from Geodon about a month and a half ago. Since then, I have been experiencing problems with nausea and the feeling that I need to gag/dry heave. This occurs on a daily basis and can last all day long. Thursday, the 5th, my pdoc told me to stop taking the risperidone to see if this med was causing the problem. I woke up about 5:30 this morning after a tossing and turning sleep and felt just really out of sorts. Not nauseous, but somehow like my body was wanting to turn inside out, maybe like when you ache with a fever really bad. Could this be a withdrawal effect of stopping 1 mg risperidone. It seems like such a low dose, and I don't know if this is the cause or not and don't want to go through it any more if I can help it. ## Well, Risperidone is ...

Hello forum members. I have a question about psychiatric medication which I was wrongly prescribed. Firstly, I suffer from Chronic Lyme Disease. For those who don't know it is a quite serious bacterial infection that causes profound physical fatigue, muscle pain, cognitive problems, and depression and derealization. However, as I have just learned recently, the physical and psychological aspects of the disease are completely due to the bacteria infection of the brain and body, and will disappear completely once treated with antibiotics, which I am now taking regularly. I was unfortunately only diagnosed properly 3 months ago, after having suffered 5 years of debilitating physical illness. Ok, so my problem is this: Before I was diagnosed, I was suffering the severe psychological eff...

Risperidone makes me sleep deep for a while but the big problem is the sweating that comes with that sleep. I have been on this for Years for sleep. Is there anything else out there that tune off the brain so I can sleep. Just sleepless so no other need for the medication. ## Has this been occurring the entire time you've been taking it, or has it just started recently? If it has just started recently, but you've been taking it for years, then it may not be related to the Risperidone. Are you on any other medications? Have you had any other unusual symptoms? And what else have you tried to treat your sleep issues? Have you ever tried the supplement Melatonin?
