My springer has what appears to be ringworm on her stomach and have been treating it with antifungal cream clotrimazole usp 1% seems to be working but getting outbreaks now up in the hair on her legs. Will Cefalexina help this? she is seven months old and weights about 30 pounds ## Hello, Al! How is she doing? No, Cephalexin is an antibiotic that only treats bacterial infections, but ringworm is a fungal infection, so it will have no effect on it. Have you consulted your veterinarian? You need to be certain what this is, in order to treat it properly. ## Coconut oil is an anti-bacterial and much more, it pulls the infection out from the infected area. I have had a recurring boil for several years and no Rx worked. When I found out about coconut oil I tried it. When I start to get the bo...

Can Gelmicin be used for ringworm and if so is it effective? ## Hello, Robert! How are you? It does contain the antifungal Clotrimazole, so it may help, but you should only use it if a doctor has advised you to do so, because it also contains an antibiotic and a steroid, the latter of which may actually worsen some skin conditions. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including skin redness, irritation and dryness. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Appreciate your response my question. I will update you should I experience some side effects. Thanks again ## I have ringworm in my private place and it has been itching more and big black spots are forming. I'm taking betamox for ringworm I hope it works, my friends say its not ringworm I have but I don't know what to do. ## Batamox is an antibiotic so it will not help with a fungal infection such as ringworm, it is only useful at treating or preventing bacterial infections. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. What does it look like? Did a doctor say it was ringworm? ## I thought as much, bacteria medication can only treat bacteria and fungal medication will treat fungi. I haven't gone to the doctor. But I'm convinced it's ringworm it's starts as a pimple then gets itchy then it grows after sometime it gets scaly and spreads and gets dark brown leaving marks everywhere. I...

I need to know if dibucaine ointment will cure ringworm ## Hello, Roe! How are you? No, Dibucaine won't do anything to treat ringworm. It is a topical anesthetic that alleviates pain and itching. Its typical side effects include skin redness, itching and dryness. However, ringworm is actually a fungal infection that requires an antifungal medication to be eradicated. Is there anything else I can help with?

I got a ringworm on my chest from a child that had one on its head. I used tincain foot cream and it cleared up, but I stopped using it now and I see little ones coming back. I was told to take an antibiotic, does this help or hurt? ## No, an antibiotic will not treat ringworm. It is caused by a fungus, so it requires an antifungal to eradicate it, according to the NIH. My 4 year old daughter has ringworm on her head, and i wanted to know if its safe to use on her scalp? I have the medicine gelmicin just got it from mexico, i just want ti know if its safe. ## Hello, Mell! How is your daughter doing? At her age, it is always best to consult her pediatrician, rather than trying to self-treat. Many medications can be more potent in children, to the point where they could actually be dangerous. Her doctor can provide a diagnosis and prescribe the appropriate thing to treat it safely. Has she had ringworm, before? There is a steroid in Gelmicin, as well as an antibiotic and antifungal, so it could cause her some serious side effects, such as those listed by the FDA like weight gain, acne and skin rash.

free coupons ## my son is in wrestling and has ringworm in back of his neck. can i apply this medicine on his neck? (Clobetasol Propionate Cream USP, 0.05%) ## I'm sorry, but this website does not manufacture nor sell any medications, so they are unable to help with medication coupons. There are some companies that have them available for name brand, life-sustaining medications, but as I said those would be through the manufacturer. As to Mom's question, Clobetasol is a steroid class medication, so no it will not treat the fungal infection that causes ringworm. That will require an antifungal topical ointment, so anyone with such an issue will need to see their doctor for an appropriate prescription. Learn more Clobetasol details here. Is there anything I can help with?

Hello, I've have resistant ringworm for awhile now. I usually take oral terbinafine and it clears up but comes back about 3 months later. My dermatologist has prescribed Itraconazole 100 MG to take twice daily for 14 days. The listed bad side effects of this medicine worried me. Also, I have read that if you take 200 MG per day, you should only take for 7 days and then wait three weeks. Is it safe to take this medicine at this dose? I'm 52 years old and don't take any other medicines. Please advise! ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? What particular side effects worried you? Perhaps if you are more specific, those can be addressed, and someone can give you more information on how likely they are to occur, and how severe they might be. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Itr...
