I have RLS and it's getting worse. I was taking .25 mg. 3x Day along with gabapentin. I still take gabapentin. My neurologis had me try Requip 2 mg at bedtime but my ins. co. won't cover it. He has now prescribed carbidopa Levo to take one at bedtime. I've done this for two nights and have not slept a skidget! Also, the RLS is in full bloom even after taking this. Maybe because I'm awake? RLS isn't fatal but my goodness it's enough to drive me to drink. Is there a connection? What would be the next medication? ## I don't know if this will help you but it sure has helped many people with RLS. It is dark healthy chocolate with very high antioxidant levels, low sugar, low fat. The pure unprocessed cacao in this has other health benefits as well. It is absolutely...

I have severe RLS now, I have detoxed from Pramipexole (dopamine) over the past 5 weeks with support from my GP. The detox was horrific and the hardest thing I've ever had the go through in my 64 years. Now I'm taking 500mg Gabepentin and 1mg Tramadol. This combination has given me the first nights sleep in 5 weeks. I dont have pain so why do I require Tramadol? I'm scared to take the Tramadol away in case I lose my sleep pattern after going through hell and no sleep during the detox. I belong to RLS forums which give me wonderful support and I'd like some feedback about the two combination dugs that I'm on now. I'm very cautious and wary about getting too dependent on Tramadol. thank you. ## Hello, Katy! How are you? Only your doctor can give you the specific re...

I have had RLS for as long as I can remember (33yr old female). However it only affected me once maybe twice a month and only ever at night for a few hours and was associated with physical fatigue or alcohol sessions (which were few and far between) and was controlled by taking a cold and flu nighttime tablet. Just over a month ago I collapsed at home with DVT and subsequent bilateral Pulmonary embolisms. In hospital I was on twice daily clexane inj's. and then discharged with Xarelto. Once I completed my script of oxynorm for the pain and it was out of my body my RLS has been unbearable...24/7, I cant get to sleep before 5-7am in the morning (when I suspect the Xarelto has worn off and due to take the next dose). This has been happening for 2 weeks straight, sitting on the floor ro...

both my husband and I suffer from rls , any ideas to alleviate this problem ## Have you consulted your doctor(s)? There are medications that can help alleviate the symptoms, such as Ropinirole, but I am not sure what is available to you there. Learn more: ## Hi there. I have suffered RLS for over 13 years. its important to read as much up to date research. If you google Dr Paul Earley at John Hopkins Medical centre in USA you will find many links to help you. I belong to RLSSUCKS support group. It is fairly well known now that all dopamine drugs will at some time or other cause you more problems (augmentation). Do everything naturally that you possibly can. Get iron and magnesium blood evaluations. The iron levels are important and need to be over 100. Always ask people who know what it...

Has there been any studies or anecdotal information on Contrave and Restless Leg Syndrome? ## Hello Walt, According to the NIH restless leg syndrome is not an adverse reaction that is associated with this drug, however that does not mean that it's impossible for it to be the root cause. According to the report given by the FDA only 3 individuals out of 2,778 reported restless syndrome as a condition they noticed after taking contrave. Are there any other medications that you are taking in addition to the contrave? ## Since taking contrave, my severe rls is much improved!

I've been prescribed to take Carb/Levo for restless leg syndrome. Does anyone have experience using it for this purpose and what were results? ## I don't know how old your question is, but my mother has taken it for at least 10 years with no side effects. It provides her great relief. Once in awhile it won't be effective enough, but she gets by on those nights. ## I've been taking carb/levo for restless leg syndrome for a couple years. I started taking one tablet, 10 mg.- 100 mg and about a year later took 1 1/2 tablets. Now I'm down to 1/2 tablet as the higher dosage created restlessness an hour after I took it ... and lasted an hour before i could relax enuf to go to sleep. The 1/2 tablet seems to work better when taken with melatonin 3 mg... some nites it seems th...

I have been taking clonazepam for over a month now for restless leg syndrome {.5mg}. The first 2 weeks they worked really well then my dr also put me on imipramine 25-50 mg at night to help me sleep but it makes the rls worse and the clonazepam doesn't even relax me anymore also on Wellbutrin 2x daily. ## I took a few different prescriptions for restless leg syndrome before being sent to a Neurologist. Restless leg syndrome is neurological and hereditary, my father had it but we all just thought he was very anxious. My brother and I now both take a combination of Mirapex and Sinemet CR. Both drugs are Parkinsons drugs that control tremors. My brother had been to more doctors than I and on more different drugs than I. We have both found relief with Mirapex and Sinemet CR even though,...

I was just given a prescription for gabapentin 300mg 90 minutes before bedtime. Can increase 300mg every night to a max of 1200. This increase is weekly. I have symptoms of restless leg syndrome but my problem is much more than RLS. I have heavy legs and problems with balance. I was on Requip with some help to the symptoms but developed compulsive gambling problem. Is anyone else in a similar situation or have any advice for me as to what to expect. I have had this problem for over 5 years. It started with just kinda stubbing your toe as I walked and progressed to turing to walk a certain direction and my upper body moved but my legs did not follow. I take Oxycodone 5 mg 3 times daily , any better ideas? Is this addictive or will it harm me more? I have PAD and angio 2 times. Ache so bad I never sleep. Been on current med 2 years. ## Oxycodone is a narcotic opiate, so yes, it does have the potential of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, constipation and dry mouth. There are risks associated with taking any medication, there's no way to avoid that. It's really a matter of finding which one works best for you, without causing you a lot of problems or side effects. What other treatment options have you tried? ## See a Neurologist and IF your dx is RLS ASK about MIRAPEX OR MIRAPEX ER. Get off the opiates asap,

My father is 84 years old and he is a very “tough man” that has an extremely high tolerance to pain. Over the years he’s had different medical conditions that would require pain medication is like Norco or Percocet whatever and he was given them but he rarely took them and now he has been given restless leg syndrome diagnosis and he is in excruciating pain. I mean excruciating to the point where he is screaming in pain crying and just can’t take it and now he’s thinks that he can’t live his life the rest of his life in this excruciating pain. And he has been on Norco 5/325 for over 20 years one twice a day is the directions because he has a couple of chronic conditions that caused him pain but the amount of Norco he’s been given over the last 20...

I've been on suboxone for about 8 months. Starting dosage was 2 -8mg a day.after months I've tapered down to about .50-.30mg very very small piece and been on that for a month, it's not as bad but I'm still tired and get light heat flashes. Any thoughts on what I should do from here? ## Is your intention to fully get off of Suboxone anytime soon? If so, I think you're certainly on the right track. Usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them. Based on the amount you're taking now, I'd say your just about out of the woods! Another user on here ...

hi,i am getting RLS (restless leg syndrome) in both legs over soles and low back pain (mainly in left) and sometime knee joint (very rare). Legs feel like restless leg syndrome. Started yesterday legs have ached ever since ## Hello, Cindy! How are you?
