No, it is not a good idea to just stop taking them, that could actually be very dangerous. If you abruptly stop them, it could cause a rebound effect that may cause your blood pressure and heart rate to go very high, which could put you in life threatening danger. My mother is 70 years old, her blood pressure remains 160.90 after taking repace H also as prescribed by the doctor. Recently after taking this medicine the sodium content decreases rapidly and I admitted her in hospital and given NS through vein. Does the Repace H decrease the sodium? ## HI, Rajeev! Yes, the H in this stands for Hydrochlorothiazide, which is a diuretic that removes excess fluid from the body, when fluid is removed in this manner, it also removes sodium and other electrolytes. That most likely means that it's too high of a dosage for her to take. Learn more Hydrochlorothiazide details here. Unless she has been suffering from a problem that involves excess fluid retention, such as edema or ascites, she may be better off taking a medication that doesn't contain a ...

I have been taking repace H and amlodipine to control HBP; one tab each nightly for the last 5 years. Being 56 years of age it lowers to 145/95 with the effect of loss of libido and ED. Should I change medication or dosage to lower it further? And what combination of medicine can I use to improve my libido? ## Loss of libido and ED can be side effects of most blood pressure and cardiac medications, according to the NIH. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Have you informed your doctor? They may be able to help you find alternative medications that will not cause these issues. Are you on any other medications?

My mother is 72 years of age and has been taking Repace 50mg in the morning and one at night for the past 10 years... Is it ok....like as far as side effects are concerned?..... Can she safely stop taking her nightly dose? ## She should take the medication as prescribed by her doctor. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. If she is taking it for high blood pressure, or a cardiac condition, those conditions can be far more dangerous, if left uncontrolled, than the risk of taking the medications. Is she on any other medications?
