what particular ailment does renalin capsule cure? I am suffering from UTI because I used to eat salty foods. Can I take this medicine? ## Hi Mayie, sorry to hear about the UTI. From what I have gathered, Renalin is a combination of four herbs that are supposed to support kidney wellness. The ingredients are reported to be: [1] Orthosiphon aristatus (Balbas Pusa or Cat’s whiskers, a source of essential oils and flavones) - listed in the Philippine Pharmacopeia 1 as a traditional medicinal plant for bacterial and inflammatory diseases of the lower urinary tract and approved by the German Commission E for urinary tract infections and for kidney and bladder stones. Lagerstroemia speciosa (Banaba, a source of corsolic acid) is traditionally used for diabetes, as a diureti...

My daughter has stage 4 renal cell carcinoma, the cancer has metastasized to her lungs, lymph nodes and vena cava vein. She has tried both Votrient and Sutent but the cancer has continued to grow. She has seen 3 different surgeons who all agree that surgery is not a option as the risk would far outweigh any benefits. She just started the drug Afinitor and I was wondering if anyone has had positive results with this medication. Know it's not realistic to only look at good postings but she could really use a little positive reinforcement about now. So far she hasn't experienced any severe side effects but if or when they kick in I know she could handle them a lot better if she had a some hope. Any postings would be truly appreciated. ## Has she looked over the manufacturer's w...

Since 50% of the excretion is by the liver - I would think this is the ideal contrast for any patient with renal compromise. I know there is currently a clinical trial for this. however as in all cases the science and the prelimiary data seems so promising that I think this needs to be considered for the renal impaired patients. There are many patients who need contrast who have renal failure. The fact that this cojntrast is already 1/4 dose regular contrast and you could use this 1/2 dose at 3T for renal impaired patients would for me be perfectly acceptable if this finds the small liver met or small brain met which could not be detected otherwise. Benefits vs risks are what we balance every day. I am happy to hear your comments on this.

No longer working. Am to start Votrient in 2 wks. I hope it will work. The side effects are hopefully not as bad as the sutent. Going to the bathroom 10 times a day get to be a little much. The bitter taste usually only last 14 out of the 28 days. ## You should take the medication that your doctor feels is best for you. The FDA warns that they may all cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. How are you both doing, now? Are either of you on any other medications?

Can Thiocolchicoside be given to a patient with polycystic kidney disease and mild renal insufficiency (i.e. Sr Creatinine of 1.5)? ## Thiocolchicoside is a muscle relaxant with analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. It shouldn't be given to anyone with severe renal insufficiency, however, when someone just has a mild impairment, they can use it, but should be closely monitored by their doctors. The lowered kidney function usually causes increased plasma concentrations of most medications, so their bodies absorb more than the usual amounts and it takes longer for them to process it out. Therefore, their dosage has to be carefully adjusted, as well. ## I just want to read the daily message sent to my mail to keep me updated with the drug's information.
