A friend of mine got some slimming pills called Reduce 15 mg that he bought in Thailand. They are not allowed in the country where I live, so I can't consult my doctor. I'm healthy but I have suffered from stress due to too much work, and have been medicated for that a couple of times, though not currently. I'm not fat, but I have gained 20 kg due to stress. Do you know which secondary efects these pills could have or if I should take them at all? ## From what I can find, Reduce contains the active ingredient Subutramine, which has been pulled from the market in many countries, due to the severe dangers associated with it. It can cause cardiac related dangers, such as: accelerate heart rate, trouble breathing, elevated pulse and elevated blood pressure. There have been some ...

i am 74 yr old male. Chlorestrol normal, but on advice of Doctor. Wouldit be OK to reduce dosage to 10 mg? ## Hello, Nestro31! How are you? If your doctor has instructed you to lower the dose, it would be best to do as they've directed. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My husband was similar, so he weaned himself off the Statin (I forget which one it was) couldn't get any logical answer from the doc as to why not. He now takes no statins, and cholesterol is non existant.

Is megestrol used to control hot flashes in men who have had prostate cancer radiation and harmone therapy? ## I did come across a study done on "Megestrol acetate for the prevention of hot flashes"; which you can view by following the link below: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8028614 It seems as though it would be pretty effective, as the study mentioned that hot flashes were reduced by 85% after four weeks on megestrol. The degree of efficacy was also noted to be similar in men and women. On a side note: Megestrol is a man-made version of the human hormone progesterone, and is commonly used by cancer patients, so I do believe that it is an option for those who have had prostate cancer radiation and hormone therapy. I hope this information helps to answer your question!
