I read and came to know that in some patients the use of Ramipril actually increases the blood pressure due to some specific action of kidney emissions (only a minority of the patients), as it is in my case. Can somebody clarify? ## No, it actually causes the opposite effect, in a small percentage of patients that have some impairment to renal function, it can cause them to absorb too much of the medication and suffer from low blood pressure (hypotension). I've been using Ramistar H 5mg for the past 7 years after CABG bypass surgery. Is it true that prolonged usage of Ramistar could cause diabetes in an otherwise healthy individual? ## It has been known to cause elevated blood sugar levels, but that doesn't actually make some a diabetic, in many cases, it goes back to normal, once someone switches to a different medication, according to the NIH. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. Are you on any other medications?

I have been diabetic for 8 years. I am taking glycomet gp2 and giucobay 50. My blood pressure was normal. But now at times my bp goes to 140/90 or even 150/90. My doctor prescribed ramistar 2.5mg. Most of the time my bp remains below 130/80. Should I continue ramistar 2.5mg? My age is 64. ## You should take the medication as instructed by your doctor. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?
