But its been long time my BP doesnt come down. whats is possibly going with my heart and kidneys. please help me. ## Chronic Nephritis is an inflammation of the Nephrons of the Kidneys and there are several things that can cause it, such as infections and autoimmune disorders. The only way to find out what has caused it and to get proper treatment is to follow your doctors advise for testing and treatments. I have had high BP for some time, treated with 10 mg Ramipril. The readings have always remained on the high side. Today the GP has prescribed 5mg Amlodipine to be taken in combination with Ramipril. Does anyone have any personal experience of this? Reading the side effects of Amlodipine seems a bit scary. ## Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker and it has about the same risk of causing side effects as the Ramipril that you're already taking. However, the most important fact of relevance is that it's far more dangerous to let your blood pressure remain high than any possible side effects you may experience from a medication. Letting it remain high risks damage to your heart, which may be permanent, it also creates the risk of stroke, heart attack, congestive heart failure and...

I was taking amlodipine 5mg+metoprolol 50mg in the morning and ramipril 5mg in the evening. the heart rate dropped to 52-55/min. I have reduced metroprolol to 25mg since last 5 days. The BP is average 130/85 and heart rate is 58-62. Will it longer to stabilize and heart rate to increase further? Does the present combination of amlodipine 5mg+ metoprolol 25mg in the morning and ramipril 5mg in the evening have any serious side effects? I am 54 yrs old and hypertensive. ## I take Metoprolol 50mg. plus Lisinopril 40mg, plus Hydrochlorathiazide 25mg. together in the morning. Is that safe, no interactions? ## Sunil, you should consult your doctor, there is a chance that your lowered heart rate is not due to the medications, there could be something else going on. What time of day have you be...

Im on ramipril 10mg as bp remains at 100 so now on amlodipine 5mg in conjunction . I am fine re cholesterol and blood sug. No apparent reason apart from stress. Any ideas would be great. Plus has this combination wrkd for anyone. Only thing they have found is low calcium in my body. ## Hi, Beanie! How are you? Sometimes, there just is no explanation for why someone develops high blood pressure. I haven't been on that exact combination, but I've had to take other medications in those same classes. It's generally beneficial to combine them in the case of resistant hypertension, since they tend to increase the effects of each other. Learn more Ramipril details here. Which is better Ramipril or Amlodipine? Just to mention sometimes I get wheezing due to allergy House dust polen etc. I used to take Amlodipine 5mg I was bit stout. When I reduced weight due to TB my weight reduced so blodd pressure was high not much. So doctor stopped this to study BP. then When I regained weight after TB cured again lower level was bit high. Now a different doctor prescribed with Ramipril 2 capsule of 1.25 mg so it is 2.5mg. I am afraid because different doctors handled me. Any problem I cant say anything about doctor. NHS surgery is like that . NHS hospital is better because they always send us to respective specialities. Surgery is a general doctor. I am 47. I am afraid if prescription of medicine is wrong. Amlodipine is prescribed by Indian heart specialist. Ramipr...

I had a panic attack in my sleep due to anxiety which sent my BP rocketing g and the fastest palpitations I have ever felt. I thought I was about to have a heart attack so called an ambulance, I was taken to A&E as I was getting numbness in my left arm. My ECG and bloods were normal but my BP was 184/111 it took hours before it went down. So a few days later I was at my doctors who said I now have to take Ramipril with 5mg Amlodipine, he didn't say when I should take them, plus he has changed my Simvastatin to Artorvastatin plus I take Metformin twice a day for type 2. i have been on 12.5mg of ramipril each day for the past 2 and half years. We have now got a new doctor in our practice and he says that it is a too high dosage for me and now has put me on 10mg of ramipril and 5mg of amlodipine. Could the high dosage of rampipril caused anything to me, i have my blood pressure checked every three months and bloods done every six months or can it do anything to me in the future. ## That's actually not a really high dosage, it can go up to 20mgs a day for hypertension. Why did he feel it was too high of a dose, were your blood pressure readings low, while you were taking it? Next question, why is it only being checked every 3 months? Are you checking it yourself, at home? ## I have not had a bowel movement in almost 4 months. Have had every test known...

I have been on ramipril for a few months now to go with my amlodipine 5mg for high blood pressure. I am mainly at night getting clogged up in the back of the throat, which makes me want to be sick along with a cough? Is it the ramipil? ## Hello, Linda! No, Ramipril hasn't been known to cause congestion, just the cough. Learn more Ramipril details here. If you're getting the cough from it, you should consult your physician, because that usually doesn't go away and will require a switch to a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for your answer I will check with my doctor about the cough, its worse at night, also I will let him know about the clogged up throat. I came off of them this week for 3 days and I felt better but my blood pressure wen...

My doctor has taken me off Ramipril 10mg and Bisoprolol 1.25 and put me on Perindopril 4mg. The ramipril did not lower my bp but i had few side effects . When the bisoprolol was added it lowered my bp a little but it was still out of control and I got bouts of vertigo and palpatations when the Bisoprolol was added. However as I was on amlodipine for a number of years , that actually kept my bp lower but the side effects gave me no quality of life at all so i would not like to use again. Does anyone know the difference of Ramipril and Perindopril and if Perindopril has less side effects than Ramipril and does it work better at lowering bp? ## Well, it isn't that any medication really has less risk of side effects than any other. It's just that some are known to cause them less of...

On amlodipine ramipril and prochlorperazine how long would you expect side effects to last surfing dizziness headaches ## Hello, Julie! How are you? They typically last about 4 to 5 weeks, while your body is getting used to the mediations, then they tend to start to ease off in severity and eventually go away entirely. You may also experience nausea, increased urination and hypotension, as reported by the FDA. How long have you been taking them?

I've been taking ramipril and amlodipine for several years with no problems but last week my Dr prescribed indapamide. I feel sick, headache, lightheaded, dry mouth and generally awful. I've read that its side effects are "minor and transient" but I don't know if I can wait until they go away. Any advice from anyone please? ## Did you doctor mention why they were changing your medications? The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. If your doctor had you make a sudden switch, then you are likely also experiencing some withdrawal effects, along with the new side effects. Are you on any other medications? Are you being treated for high blood pressure? ## Yes I have high BP. I also have...

I had a mild heart atack and I was prescribed a cocktail of drugs, which made me feel like a zombie, I was extremely tired, feeling sick, couldn't barely walk: ticagrelor 90 mg., simvastatin 40 mg., amlodipine, ramipril 2.5 mg., eleprenone(Inspra) 25 mg. I discarded the amplodipine- why the dictors prescribed it together with the ramipril, if both do the same job and both have bad side effects? I also stopped the simvastatin- so far for a week and I feel better, but another doctor now replaced with with atorvastatin 20 mg. which I will have to start taking, but this one is also known for bad side effects and I was also prescribed a beta blocker- Egiloke 25 mg (Metrprolol tartrate) as replacement of the amplodimine. I am worried about the side effects: my colesterols levels and blood...

How are you? It would be much more common for anxiety to be caused by the Albuterol, it tends to have a stimulating effect that can do that. How long have you been using it? ## My GOD that's a lot! I will say I was on Clonidine and almost checked myself into a mental institution. Every day I'd ask myself if I could make it one more day. UK, NW England, I had high blood pressure and was started on Ramipril, went up to 10mg but still had high BP so amlodipine was introduced and I eventually, after being put on 10mg a day my blood Pressure was stabilized. The side effects I noticed are, first I found erections were not as easy as before any medication and second I seem to be getting indigestion quite a lot. On Occasion I get light headed. I would obviously prefer to NOT take any medication at all but have been advised that is not a good idea. I didn't really notice any of these side effects on ramipril, only after Amlodipine was added. up to 10 mg. I am still trying to get off these tablets or even change but my GP says he is reluctant as my blood pressure is stable now. If anyone knows of any drug that can replace th...
