FATAL? ## Hello, I have been using Seraquil for almost 4 years. In the last 2 years I have gained 35lbs. I changed nothing, still did an hour of cardio everyday like I have been for the last 30 years. I did reduce my calories by about 1/3, BUT still gained the weight. I stopped taking the drug for 2 months and did not like the way I felt mentally. I did not suffer much in the way of withdrawals but everything bothered me. I take 100mg at bedtime. So I went back on Seraquil. During the 2 months I lost about 5 lbs. When I went back on I was determined to lose weight even tho I was taking the drug. I really cut my calories. And low and behold I started to lose weight. Down about 12 lbs now and I will get back to the 180 lbs weight I have had for 35 years. My whole point in writing this is ...

SLEEP ## Could you be looking for the drug Seroquel ? ## That is also my best guess. There are many instances where the spelling or understanding of a drug name is based on what someone has heard and it can vary greatly depending on how it was pronounced by the person they heard it from. ….not to mention the inherent ability of pharmacologists to make many spellings and pronunciations as confusing and odd as possible. :-) You can learn more Seroquel details here. Seroquel is actually an atypical antipsychotic that's most commonly used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, but since it can cause drowsiness as a side effect, it can help with insomnia, especially in cases where other medications have been unsuccessful. Other side effects may include nausea, sed...

I have been treated for bipolar 2 for 3 yrs and have been on several different meds (lamictal, lithium, abilify, seraquel and a few others). Recently went into my pdoc (I'm on 300mg lamictal, 150mg seraquel and mentally doing the best ever). But, I've gained almost 30 lbs since being on seraquel which has now become a deal breaker. My pdoc put me on topomax for weight loss 3 days ago. Any experience with topomax causing weightloss even while remaining on seraquel? (Side note: avid exerciser, high intensity, and follow a south beach diet, strict). Thanks for any responses, much thanks! ## I have to be honest and say that I am against treating the side effects from one medication with another medication, because in my opinion and experience, it just creates a vicious circle. I was recently diagnosed with Seratonin Syndrome after 3 months of going from doctor to doctor trying to find out what was wrong with me -- nobody knew how to diagnose it -- heart palpitations, severe joint pain (was tested for lupus and RA) dialated pupils, very agitated and irritable, nose bleeds, increased blood pressure and pulse rate. I had been on Prozac (10 mg) for over 20 yrs. after an auto accident & subsequent surgery, Neurontin (1500-1800 mg) was added, along with Tramadol (50mg) 3-4 times a day. Cymbalta (30 mg) was added to the cocktail in December & I have been fighting symptoms that no one could diagnose. Seratonin Syndrome can be life-threatening, but I was prescribed all of these medications which did nothing but react with each other. Please be careful & do...

Father was put on seraquel. He is 82 and has dementia. He got very aggressive in an angry manner. He is also on Parkinson's medications, diabetic, and blood thinners. They use (nursing home) Ativan when he is having bad days. We were not aware they had put him on seraquel. He was then sent to facility to have all meds reviewed. Changed from seraquel to Risperdal while there and to new parkinsons medication. From what I have read even the Risperdal is not approved for this. Are there any options? ## I would suggest speaking to his care givers, because if he was becoming aggressive, that may be why he's been given the Risperdal, it's a very potent antipsychotic that has a sedating like effect. It's frequently used in autistic children to treat symptoms of irritability and ...

Im on 15mgs of methadone 150mgs of oxycodone 6mgsof klonapin so is it dafe to take 30 mgs of seraquil a day with it ## Hello, Ace! How are you? Has your doctor prescribed it for you? Combining the Seroquel with the others can increase the level of sedation that you experience, so you may be more drowsy and dizzy than usual. Thus, you shouldn't combine them, unless your doctor says that it is safe for you to do so. The FDA classifies Methadone and Oxycodone as being narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Klonopin is a benzodiazepine that also carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability...

Is the paracetamol content (325mg) in Seradic P too much to damage the liver? I have been prescribed with the drug to cure my tennis elbow. Although the entire course duration is only 5 days (twice a day), yet it makes me wonder whether it'll have any negative effects on my liver? Also, does it actually cure tennis elbow or are there better medication for the same? ## These medications can effect everyone differently, but in my opinion, since the duration is only 5 days, you should be fine at a dose of 325mg twice a day. This is the lowest dose of paracetamol out there I believe. To answer your other question, this is not a cure for tennis elbow, but it should relieve the symptoms while you take it. I also think the link below offers some excellent information on how to treat tennis...

I was prescibed Serta-50mg.by the doctor for depression.I have been taking it for last three years.Since I am feeling netter. can I stop it.now ## Do not stop cold turkey! You will be very sick. My doctor said to wean slowly. For a month, take a half a pill a day. Then a half a pill every OTHER day. Then stop. I did it just like this 33 days ago was the last pill I had and im still trying to get these withdraw symptoms to stop. Im very sick to my stomach almost all the time. It sucks ## Hi Meena! The reason you are feeling better is because you are taking the medication. I know people who stopped their medication and they were fine for awhile then lapsed into depression again. It is NOT good to stop the medication until you speak to your doctor. Call him first.
