An antipsychotic (or neuroleptic) is a psychiatric medication primarily used to manage psychosis (including delusions or hallucinations, as well as disordered thought), particularly in schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and is increasingly being used in the management of non-psychotic disorders (ATC code N05A). A first generation of antipsychotics, known as typical antipsychotics, was discovered in the 1950s. Most of the drugs in the second generation, known as atypical antipsychotics, have ...

Hi, was just wonderinpsychotic episodeg if anyone has ever had a psychotic episode from going off of zolfoft, I have and it was pure hell. My kids didn't think they would ever see me again. Please if anyone has had anything close to to this, please let me know of your experience Thanks ## While I don't have personal experience with this drug, I would like to post many of the possible withdrawal symptoms one might experience when stopping Zoloft: The first major withdrawal symptom to look out for is dizziness. If you stopped taking Zoloft all of a sudden, you have a high chance of experiences random dizziness. If you have experienced this symptom before you know it is not very pleasant. You will have a hard to staying balanced and feeling alright. There are other symptoms that go...

Please if anyone has had anything close to to this, please let me know of your experience Thanks ## Did you doctor say it was caused by going off the Zoloft? A sudden cessation, if you've been taking it for a long period of time, can cause depression and rebound effects, but a complete psychotic break would be very unusual. ## No my doctor didn't tell me that's what it was from, but my shrink did. Also, another friend of mie had the same thing happen. So yes, it's very common with Zoloft ## I as well had a psychotic episode after being prescribed Zoloft. In 1996, I was 22 and I only took it for 2 ...

My friends husband has been given this drug and he is in much worse condition then he was before he took it, ## Risperdal contains the active ingredient Risperidone and unfortunately, like any medication, it doesn't work for everyone that tries it and can cause some people to experience the opposite of the desired effect. What types of symptoms is he experiencing? Has he consulted his doctor about the problem, yet?

14 years on zoloft. weaned off slowly .. was finally off for aprx 2 mo. maybe less. suddenly at er then admitted. dry mouth severe, with bizzare behavior? what would treatment be? no history of any mental illnes. was put on it for IBS pain in 1996- 2010 ## Hello, Leah! How are you? Did they directly tie it to the cessation of the Zoloft? It would be very odd for something like to happen 2 months after stopping it. And the treatment would depend on the cause of the episode, it's difficult to even guess from just the limited information in your posts. What did the hospital do? Is there a chance the person took anything else?

I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same types of dreams as I. First of I have to inform you all that recently I was trying to ween myself off my percocet because my bulging disk was supposedly back in place(which its not) so I began taking fewer percocet. This caused nausea so my DR. prescribed me Prochlorperazine 10mg. This is when things start to get really weird. I began feeling really restless and anxious before bed and when I finally fell asleep all hell would break loose....literally. I would dream that I was awakened suddenly in the night by an intruder. The intruder would just look at me and give me a real evil grin and then procede to brutally beat and mutilate my wife. In these dreams(yes dreams plural, same dream every night) I would not be able to move, speak or...

I was diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder and major depression in 1994. After being on Ativan and Xanex, in 2007 my prescribing doctor switched me to Klonopin. She claimed it was not as addictive as the other 2 and easier to get off of. I am living proof that this is not true. After attempting suicide in June 2012, I began seeing a psychiatrist. She played around with many different meds for insomnia and depression. She decided to stop my Klonopin completely w/o tapering me off. She put me on 60 mg of Prozac and Buspar 2x daily. I had complained on my last 2 monthly visits that I was not feeling right at all, I was experiencing a lot of deja vu and weird thoughts. She changed nothing. In June 2013 I called her office on a Monday and requested to see her, stating I was feeling very ...

I was prescribed 1 , 4 mg med pack for cough and fluid in lungs that wouldn't clear up with antibiotics alone. This all started with strep and pneumonia. I have a history of panic attacks and depression, but it has been years. After the first 3 pills it was time for bed. Awoke after 2 hours and remained awake for 24 hours, 4 panic attacks in that time. Called doc. She said take a day of off of pack to rest, then continue. Major panic attacks, racing thoughts, anger, fear. I only took 2 of the 4 pills for yesterday. Will not take anymore. How long before these crazy feelings go away. I have elderly family members to care for...I need to be me again. Please help. I have taken alprazolam 3xper day to help with symptoms...not much help. ## Hello, Holly! How are you feeling? I'm sorr...

I just wanted you all to know that I am the one prescribed medrol dose pack 4 mg for the cough and fluid in lungs that would not clear up. Everyone told me that by day 4 of being off of that 1 dose pack ( that I did not complete) I would be back to normal and it should all be out of my system. They were wrong. It is now 10 days after I took the last pill I was willing to take of that pack. I feel the most normal today that I have so far. It has been a really rough almost 2 weeks, but I made it through. Hope this helps some of you. No one could give me a timeframe for the meds getting out of my system. It has taken at least the 10 days for me. I am so relievd to start feeling like the vibrant, healthy person I usually am. Thank you God for letting better! ## GOD is indeed very good. he c...

My doctor put me on Invega, along with 3 other anti-depressants, 5 years ago. Invega is classified as an anti-psychotic only it had no side effects--no sedation at all was the most prominent. Now the Invega is responsible for raising my cholesterol to 318 so I have to go off it. I was on 6 mgs. and he lowered it to 3 for one week. I was fine--as if nothing changed. After going off of it, I was a mess. I was sweating, I couldn't sleep, I felt like something was crawling on my skin and I couldn't sit still. Without his knowledge I went back on the full dose because I am in a wedding of a family member in 11 days. Then I was thinking. The symptoms I was having when I went totally off of it were WITHDRAWAL symptoms, not due to the lack of the medication otherwise. The psychiatrist w...

anti-psychotic? ## I think this may have been asking about Ativan, which is a Benzodiazepine that contains the active ingredient Lorazepam and no, it is not an antipsychotic, it is most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. It does have the potential to be habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. Learn more Lorazepam details here. Are there any other questions or comments?

anti psychotic medication for schizophrenia perscribed for alzheimer's patient ## Did you mean to ask about Zyprexa, which contains the active ingredient Olanzapine? It is an antipsychotic that is also used for its sedative like effects. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, mood changes, somnolence, and weight gain.

anti psychotic ## this is a made up drug from the film The Exorcism Of Emily Rose. It does not exist ## The original post was made over 2 years ago, so I doubt this person will read it now. However, this information is great to have on here for anyone in the future who might hear this drug name mentioned and look for more information. Maura is correct, this drug DOES NOT EXIST! It was totally invented for the movie. It does sound like it may be a real drug, because the writers of the script did follow FDA guidelines for naming drugs when they created it, but once again, IT IS NOT REAL!!! ## Gambutrol is a derivative of the word 'game' or 'gaming' - a direct reference to the fictionalized (though more or less accurate) depiction in the film 'The Game'. The filmmak...
