Hello. I started taking 20mg propranolol immediate release for migraines 3 times daily. This was working perfectly for my migraines. My doctor decided to change my medication to the extended release propranolol 60mg once daily, reason being she said it would be more convenient for me. As soon as I started the extended release my migraines came back. Why would this happen if it's the same medication and what should I do? ## Hello, Christina! How are you? Has there been any change? The time released is slowly released throughout the day, so you might not be getting enough, at once, to stave off your migraines. The full dose of the regular release is usually working within 15 to 20 minutes of taking it, so that might be why it worked better for you. Have you asked him about going back ...

My hair is falling out, I think I will be bald soon. I am taking Inderal/Propranolol 10 mg, 4 times a day; Omeprazole/Prilosec, once a day; Amitriptyline 50mg once at night; Ibuprofen 800mg 3 times a day...for migraines and body pain. Would any of these meds cause my hair to fall out? Thanks for any help! ## Hi, Pixie! Sorry about the hair loss. It is most likely the Inderal that is causing your hair loss, it is very common with the beta blocker medications. Learn more Inderal details here. Have you consulted your doctor? Usually it will stop and start to reverse, once you stop the medication and switch to a different one. ## Hi I have been on propranolol for nearly 2yrs and my hair has fallen out at a alarming rate! I have been on 80 mg off propanolol for about 10 years now. Works great for migraine control but I have Reynards as side effect. Main worry is after blood test due to palpitations ( atopic and not a worry but possibly due to propanolol I think) I have low red blood cell number and platelets. They are about to start testing me for MDS ..basically bone marrow failure. I am very young for this apparently, only 45 whereas most are over 70 and I don't feel too unwell. I read propanolol can cause blood cell issues very rarely. Anyone has experience? I have opened up my slow release capsule and removed a quarter of the beads. I am cutting down rather than face a bone marrow biopsy in a months time of levels are any worse. Any thoughts guys? ## Hello, PennyJane! How are you? While Propranol...

Adult male here. About 5 years ago i quit drinking. Anxiety, panic attacks, migraines and PTSD resurfaced. Went to the doctor and the waiting room triggered me. As a normal physiological response to a perceived threat, my BP rose. Now in the doctors office, they look at my BP and say "wow it's so high!" I try to explain but since it wasn't on file... got prescribed propranolol. 10mg twice a day. Would get migraine in the afternoon so this was increased to 10mg 3 times a day / every 6 hours. Starting off with the side effects. It's like my lungs are coated in cement. Very hard to breath. Lung capacity has been reduced to about 30-50% of it's normal function. I told the doctor this she aid "Ya, it'll do that to ya!" casually... This has not gone away bu...

please reply if your hair has fallen out and or you have had weight gain. if your hair has not fallen out please also reply. Thank you.......... ## Propranolol is a beta blocker and almost all of the medications in this class are known to cause weight gain and hair loss as side effects in some people that take them. Have you consulted your doctor? You may want to talk to them about trying something different in this class, such as Carvedilol, which is known to cause fewer side effects. ## Yes i've been taking propranolol for about 4 years at 10mg and almost 2 years ago i went all the way up to 160 for migraines. My hair started falling out by the handfulls after the birth of my twins. I thought it was a result of birth and then shortly I went on a 500 calorie diet and blamed my hair...

Hi, I've been having migraines everyday of the week. the most severe migraines generally occur 2x a week or so. My neurologist has tried me on Tramadol, Nadolol, Fioricet, Fiorilan, Propranolol, Topamax, Excedrine, Ibuprophen, Aceteminophen, you name it! Nothing seems to knock it out unless I go into a deep sleep (I'm talking 7 hours+) because a 3-hour nap won't knock it out. I need to know of any pain doctors in the manalapan/freehold/morganville/old bridge (central jersey area) that are willing to understand where my pain is coming from. The only thing that I've tried before that has knocked it out is oxycodone. I hear it's very addictive, but I'm not a drug addict I just need to knock out this pain! If anyone could pleaseeee help me with my situation. My neuro...

You have quite a witches; brew of meds there...and who ever gave you the idea GLUCOSAMINE (Synflex) would do a damned bit of good for migraine or any chronic headache syndrome. NEUROTIN (gabapentin) has been so overprescribed and prescribed for indications where i...

Small round pink pill. C on one side & P B on other ## Hi, I'm wondering if you ever managed to identify this pill as I too am trying to figure this out. ## Hello, Based on my research, I believe I have identified your pill as Propranolol (40 mg) Propranolol is It is a beta-blocker used to slow down the activity of the heart and decrease blood pressure, chest pain caused by angina, and irregular heart beat. It is also used to protect the heart after a heart attack and to prevent migraines. In general this drug is used if you have high blood pressure, angina (by slowing down the activity of the heart, it reduces the heart's need for oxygen and reduces the risk of angina), irregular heartbeat, physical symptoms of anxiety, such as fast heartbeat, palpitations and trembling, Pr...

Does anyone know what this could be. I picked it up with damp hands and the pink coloring came away ## Hi should be propranolol 10mg, the ones with c on one side and p/b on the other are the 40mg tablets. Don't take it if you are unsure, but it sounds like propranolol. Propranolol is a beta blocker that can be used in the treatment of migraines, anxiety, and alternative problems

Why is Pur bloka being used in the treatment of migraine and Anachroid cyst? ## Pur-Bloka contains the active ingredient propranolol hydrochloride, in doses of 10 or 40mg tablets. Propranolol Hydrochloride's principal effect is to reduce the response of the heart to stress and exercise and it reduces blood pressure in patients with hypertension. The indications for this drug however, have no apparent relation to Arachnoid cysts or migraine headaches. The only conclusion I can reach is that Propranolol may help with specific symptoms or your body's response to such conditions; possibly allowing your body to relax when either of these conditions could make someone restless with insomnia. Just a thought.. but I hope this helps! Have you discussed this yet with any doctor or physici...

is it ok to be taking 10 mg lisinopril 10 mg amlodipine for blood pressure and just prescribed 240 propranolol for migraines ## Hi dolores, There is actually an interaction between the three of these medications. I wouldn't necessarily call it dangerous if you're taking each medication as directed by your doctor, but just for your information, the interactions state the following: Applies to Propranolol and Amlodipine: "MONITOR: Additive reductions in heart rate, cardiac conduction, and cardiac contractility may occur when calcium channel blockers are used concomitantly with beta blockers, particularly in patients with ventricular or conduction abnormalities. While this combination may be useful and effective in some situations, potentially serious cardiovascular adverse eff...
