For more details you can check out the drug page: Propoxyphene ## Roy is correct, it is mostly prescribed as a combination pill that also contains Acetaminophen, the name brand for it is Darvocet. Darvon if it is just Propoxyphene without Acetaminophen. It is a very mild narcotic pain reliever. Used mainly in people suffering short term pain, or who are not used to taking opiates on a regular basis. For people suffering chronic pain, it often does not help them very long and they have to move on to something else. Propoxyphene is no longer sold in India or anywhere for that matter, as it has been proven to cause heart problems. Darvon/Darvocet is manufactured in India by a number of major pharmaceutical companies there. It's formula includes Paracetemol which is equivalent to acetaminophen, but more potent as an analgesic and less toxic, and also includes in the new formula, tramadol, also a pain reliever. It is manufactured to exactly resemble the same capsule that previously was sold as Darvon, and is very popularly sold and seems more effective. ## I'm sorry, but that is incorrect, there is no difference between Paracetamol and Acetaminophen, they are exactly the same. And the formations that contain Tramadol are not called Darvon or Darvocet, they are Ultram and Ultracet. This is a na...

If Darvacet is pulled out of circulation by FDA, is is safe or harmful to take Propoxyphen Apap for pain, being it is a generic of Darvacet? Only take one as needed, not taken for chronic pain. ## The recall includes ALL medications containing Propoxyphene, not just the name brands, which would be Darvocet, this no, it is not safe to continue taking the generic, Acetaminophen and Propoxyphene. They have all been recalled and are will no longer be available on the market, this means those using it will have to speak to their doctors and switch to something else, anyway.
