If Darvacet is pulled out of circulation by FDA, is is safe or harmful to take Propoxyphen Apap for pain, being it is a generic of Darvacet? Only take one as needed, not taken for chronic pain. ## The recall includes ALL medications containing Propoxyphene, not just the name brands, which would be Darvocet, this no, it is not safe to continue taking the generic, Acetaminophen and Propoxyphene. They have all been recalled and are will no longer be available on the market, this means those using it will have to speak to their doctors and switch to something else, anyway. I am having severe back pain. can I take 2 tablets at night? One is not helping. ## Well, you should be made aware that all products containing Propoxyphene have been pulled from the U.S. market by the FDA. It has been shown to cause severe cardiac problems, some of which, have even been fatal. In light of this, I have to say no, it is not safe to use and you should consult your doctor for an alternative and any remaining tablets of this medication should be properly disposed of.
