I have been taking propanolol 160 mg in a small brown capsule for months now for headaches. I forgot my pills and I won't be able to get them for a couple days. My boyfriend was prescribed propanolol HCL 20 mg for anxiety. Would it be safe for me to substitute my pills for his? ## Hello, Morgan! How are you? The problem here is that the 160mg ones you were taking are controlled release ones and his might not be. Does his label have anything like ER, XR, SR or the like on the label? Have you tried calling your doctor to ask for advice?

I have been taking Propanolol for 10 years for high blood pressure. Recently I switched from my regular pharmacy to Walmart. I took the Walmart prescription for a couple weeks. I wasn't feeling well at all, I was getting sporadic pains in my neck, jaw, shoulders and arms. When I first thought that maybe the medicine was wrong, I Googled the imprint on the pill, and found it was propanolol. I had some of the medicine from my original pharmacy so I decided to go back to that to see if there was any difference. All of the pain and general ill feeling went away. I was shocked, and had my doctor call me in a new prescription at my regular pharmacy today. what I would like to know is what could be in that medicine to cause that? Is there anywhere to have a pill analyzed to see what is in i...

I had to stop 10 mg per day my heart was beating to slow the drs said I had heart block and it may reverse after stopping meds b\c the propanol might be the cause it's been 1week and occasionally my heart drops back down to 43 bpm they want me to get a pacemaker my app is July 30 which is just over a month I am praying my heart block will reverse before then has anyone else stopped and after 1week still had symptoms? I can't find out anywhere how long it will take to clear up ,if it's going to I don't want to go under the knife if this is a chance of my heart clearing ## Given that such a condition could be fatal, it may be better to go under the knife, rather than hope the condition reverses itself. Having a pacemaker implanted is a relatively routine surgery, now, comp...

I have been switch to Propanolol ER 80mg CAP ROU one daily today, I have been taking Propanolol 40mg TAB PLIVIA twice daily, which I only took one daily. My question is what time should I take the new medicine; before work or at bedtime. Do I need to take to medicine at the same time each day? I work nights, so time is different. ## Normally, a medication like this should be taken whatever time of day you are going to be most active, so it can help to control your blood pressure during the times you are most active and will experience the most fluctuations. So, if you work nights and that is your most active time of day, then you'd want to take it whenever you get up to start your day. And yes, you should try to find a time that works for you to be able to take it regularly and cons...

I've been taking the Pliva 467 for almost 15 years. Now they did away with the 467 and i got the P10. I start them tomorrow but I'm afraid. Are they the same? ## Hi Joyce - I understand your concerns, especially if the Pliva version (50111-467) has been working for you all this time. To answer your question, they both contain Propranolol Hydrochloride 10 mg. The P 10 version appears to be manufactured by Heritage Pharmaceuticals (NDC code 23155-110). The main difference between these two are the inactive ingredients. Hi. I have been taking propanolol 80 mg LA for tachycardia, panic attacks, palpitations, and benign PVC's since age 19. I am 52 now. I have been taking it without any problems for years, it changed my life. Recently the opposite is happening, I have had a much slower heartbeat -- 52 on the propanolol, and I'm more tired on it. I have been under a lot of stress this past year and am feeling the after affects. I would like to take a lower dosage of propanolol to keep my heart rate in the normal range. I tried going without my 80 mg capsule last night but felt anxiety, PVC's, and headache. I am thinking about carefully opening the 80 mg capsule, pouring out half, then putting it back together to get a half dose. That way I could still have the long acting capsule in my system w...

I started taking Propanolol for PVC's 2 weeks ago. 10mg once a day. That made me dizzy so i cut it up into two doses. 5 mg twice a day. That seemed to work well. I did have a few side effects for about 7 days....extremely cold hands, shortness of breath, dizziness but then I felt great for about 3 days. Now it is horrible. I started feeling REALLY tired. Can't hold my eyes open tired. Can't seem to get woke up of the mornings and now for the last 2 nights I have been so short of breath it is waking me up. Like I will fall asleep and right after I doze off, I wake up by gasping for air. I have never had this problem before and it is worrying me. I have had several Ekg's in the last 10 years and all have been normal. Last one I had was 10 months ago. Someone suggested Ader...

I have been on 80 mg off propanolol for about 10 years now. Works great for migraine control but I have Reynards as side effect. Main worry is after blood test due to palpitations ( atopic and not a worry but possibly due to propanolol I think) I have low red blood cell number and platelets. They are about to start testing me for MDS ..basically bone marrow failure. I am very young for this apparently, only 45 whereas most are over 70 and I don't feel too unwell. I read propanolol can cause blood cell issues very rarely. Anyone has experience? I have opened up my slow release capsule and removed a quarter of the beads. I am cutting down rather than face a bone marrow biopsy in a months time of levels are any worse. Any thoughts guys? ## Hello, PennyJane! How are you? While Propranol...

I have MVP and take propanolol and was recently prescribed meloxicam for arthritis. Is it okay to take the meloxicam with having mitral valve prolapse? ## Hi debbie, Based on my research, Meloxicam is contraindicated for the treatment of peri-operative pain in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. I haven't found anything specifically relating to MVP in that regard. But one review I've come across from another MVP patient (who happened to be taking Meloxicam), mentioned that their heart was acting strange on this medication and they had to switch to another muscle relaxer. Although it is important to understand that these medications can effect each person differently, so unfortunately the only way to know for sure how it effects you, is to go by trial and ...
