What pharmacy companies manufactured and produced promethazine codeine? Is Watson one of them? ## @bankrolled, From what I could gather, promethazine codeine (phenergan w/ codeine) is or was being manufactured by the following pharmaceutical companies: Alpharma Actavis (NDC is 0472-1627-16) Tris Pharma Inc. (NDC is 27808-065-01) Sun Pharma Inc. (NDC is 57664-185-31) Qualitest Pharma (NDC is 0603-1585-58) Hi-Tech Pharma I didn't see Watson listed, but Actavis bought them out a long time ago, so I'd imagine that their version ended up taking Watson's place. Throat hurts when I breathe and open my mouth. I can barely brush my teeth without it hurting. ## Hello, Donquez! How are you? Has this medication been prescribed for you? Usually, it doesn't hit the throat area long enough for it to help with a sore throat, if that's what you're asking. It's actually used to treat cough and cold symptoms. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic couch suppressant. It carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and constipation.

I'm in Houston. There is so much syrup here its like the wild west. It's crazy how it's gone worldwide as far as recreational use. ## Didn't the discontinuation of syrup from activist in 2014 slow down the trade down there? ## @gladiatorways, It is crazy how there so many people who take allergy, cough & cold medicine recreationally as if it's chocolate ice cream or something delicious. When I was little I used to feel like throwing up those miniature cap-fulls of cough syrup, they'd taste so bad (not to mention possible side effects). For the sake of those people's health, it'd be a shame to see any of them catch a real serious cold and become immune to the medication's effects, due to having a high tolerance. @Bill, Re: "Didn't the disco...

How has everything been going since the timing of your post (5/6/2017)? -Much better I hope... Did you end up having to call poison control or take him into the local emergency room? I realize he didn't want medical attention so I'd just be curious to know how the situation was handled and if he's doing well now, as from what I understand, Promethazine reportedly has strong sedative effects. Does it have an expectorant in it ## Hi Jim, Neither medication is actually in the drug class of expectorants like guaifenesin. However I have seen other brand names of promethazine + codeine (such as "Phenergan Expectorant/Codeine" manufactured by Wyeth) being marketed as an expectorant. So I'm led to believe that promethazine does exhibit such effects regardless of its classification. Hope this helps!

this drug was prescribed for constant coughing. If you have high blood pressure is this drug ok to take? ## Is promethazine vc/ co promethazine with codeine? ## does the cought medicine promethazine with codeine raises blood pressure? ## There is a chance that the Promethazine could raise your blood pressure, thus I'd suggest not taking it, unless your doctor has specifically said that it's okay for you to do so. These antihistamines are something that you have to be careful with. You can learn more Promethazine details here. Alternatively, if your blood pressure is under control or low, then you'll likely also have to check about using this due to the Codeine in it.
