I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none. ## Prolia is used to treat or prevent Osteoporosis, specifically in post-menopausal women, it contains the active ingredient Denosumab. I'm glad to hear you've had no side effects, however, they can include: skin infections, jaw bone problems, irritation at the injection site and hypocalcemia. Read More: MedlinePlus Does anyone else have experience using this? ## How are you doing now? Still now side effects? Please let us know ## I was given a shot of prolia 8 days ago. I had my infusion Mar 4 2015. I have experienced severe stomach pains, leg pains that wake me up at night, a horrible dry cough, near migraine type headaches, very severe weakness, trouble walking, constipation, had to have dental work that I usually have great teeth, some trouble sleeping. My rheumatologist did nothing to try to help me with the symptoms but my primary doctor gave me medication that help with the stomach pains, take Excedrin for Migraines and enteric aspirin for back and body, and other meds to try and find some comfort. I'm somewhat better than the few weeks after the infusion but still have a lot of problems. Hopefully this doesn't last for 6 months. ## Hello, Shirl! How are you? I'm so sorry about what you're going through. Everything you've list...

I am 81 and had my first Prolia Shot May 7, 2015 and after three weeks I have developed a red rash looking sight UNDER the skin of my legs and back. Only the back itches, which is strange! The main problem is the pimple like scabs that form in my hair, which will crust over and flake off if I scratch them. I only wonder what other problems are forming in the areas that can not be seen? I worry about the next shot, and my choose NOT to take it. ???? ## Yes, that is the Prolia rash they talk about. Some people here are using Prednisone but the problem with Pred is that it makes the Prolia stop building bones so you are suffering from problems with Prolia without getting any benefit from it. If one looks online, one can easily see that Prednisone is contraindicated for anyone on Prolia. Ma...

Would like to know if anyone had side effects from Prolia but they went away - and how long did it take for that to happen? ## There have been many posts about people suffering side effects, which in theory should wear off in a few weeks, but it hasn't worked that way for many. Here's a link to a post with comments from several people that have been suffering problems: Are you also suffering from problems? ## First injection Feb. One week later could barely walk or use my arms due to pain. Now have back pain, musculoskeletal pain, cholesterol very high and walk with a cane or walker, very seldom drive now, due to arm weakness.AND my doctor said there were no side effects.!!! I developed a red burning itchy lumpy rash after one injection of Prolia. Mainly on face neck chest arms scalp. Anyone else? ## Hello, Willy! How are you? That can be a side effect of Prolia, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, hypocalcemia, asthenia and fatigue. However, since it is itchy, you should have it checked out, because it could be an allergic reaction that requires medical treatment. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Willy, please look under Prolia side effects on this site. We have almost 900 people writing and talking about Prolia. You sort of worded your question wrong to land on the mega load of Prolia problems. Yes, it's from Prolia and requires medical attention. You will probably have to take written confirmation to make any MD believe yo...

Aprox 2 weeks after the prolia injection I started to experience nausea and weight loss. Also, loss of appetite and a keen sense of smell developed. It was difficult to eat or smell cooked food. It has been months and these symptoms have decreased dramatically. In contacting their website they would not confirm or deny this as a side effect of the drug. Has anyone else experienced nausea w/this drug? ## Hi Bonnie, From what I could gather, the following side effects are associated with Prolia, that may be similar to what you had experienced: -nausea -tingling in your fingers, toes, or around your mouth -pain, numbness, swelling, or drainage from mouth, teeth, or jaw -vomiting Referenced from: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a610023.html You or your doctor can also report various s...

I am not going to have my next shot of Prolia due 11 June. I have already had two injections and lately have suffered horrible side effects such as terrible constipation, leg and foot cramps, skin rashes, stomach pain, etc. I also found out that Prolia works by stopping the body's own bone production, causing old bone to become denser. This results in probable fractures due to old brittle bones, Prolia also causes low calcium levels in the blood, a weird side effect seeing it is supposed?to strengthen boned! ## I am sorry for your pain and suffering, I am on the "high risk list" for fractures, so having a product that has rebuilt bone mass in MY body is a blessing. No, I don't like the side effects, but I don't want to be in a wheel chair either.. Good Luck To You and...

I am a 57 year old female who has -2.5 bone density scores on hips and -3.4 in the spine. I used Forteo for 2 years, but because I was scared to death to try any of the biophosphates and Prolia - I lost the benefit from Forteo. It was minimal improvement at best. I had 3 different doctors in 3 different cities tell me that I should use Prolia. I had the injection on Friday, April 11th. I had put the shot off for 6 months after my pharmacy delivered it to the doctor office due to fear and all the forums. So -- if anyone wants to know information, I will keep you posted. Since yesterday, I have had itching in a variety of places and I had a tough time falling asleep last night. I also have some minor cramping in my calves and thighs. So far this is bearable, but I am trusting God to get m...

I'm a 59 year old female, diagnosed with Behcet's Disease and I use Prednisone for treatment for my weekly flares. The Prednisone is hard on my bones and has caused me to get osteoporosis in my hips. I had my first infusion of Zometa six days ago. I thought I was going to die from the side effects. I had 103 degree fever for five days, deep bone pain everywhere, muscle pain, flu like symptoms, migraine headache, burning eyes, pale skin, restlessness, and no appetite. Today six days later I'm still fatigued, pale, mild bone pain, mild muscle pain and no appetite. I reported these side effects to my doctor. His nurse suggested I maybe try Prolia injection in six months instead. I found this web site and was reading everything about Prolia and the side effects, they sound exact...

I am 60 yrs old and suffer from osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and myofascial pain syndrome. After discussing with my endocrinologist, I received my first injection of Prolia two days ago. Had diarrhea approximately 12 hrs later in the middle of the night. Awoke the next day with headache over entire head and face. That evening (12:30 am) I vomited approximately 10 times in succession. Awoke 5 hrs later with terrible pain and tightness from the top of my head down my neck, shoulders, and upper back. I am frightened to see where the pain will travel next, especially after reading the posts on this forum. Is there a drug out there to counteract the Prolia. I will definitely not be getting another shot in 6 mos. My doctor told me that the main side effect of this drug is worsening of skin c...

What does the pharmaceutical people of Prolia advised regarding its side effects? ## Hello, Lala! How are you? They do warn that it can possibly cause some potential serous side effects, such as low blood calcium, serious infections, jaw bone problems, thigh bone fractures and more. Have you had a bad experience with it? ## Yes, the discomfort in the mouth is the worst. Now I have to make a decision regarding what to do with my osteoporosis. I am afraid of Prolia but doctors say that Prolia is the best medicine offered. ## I HAD THE PROLIA INJECTION 5 DAYS AGO AND HAVE HAD BACK PAIN OR SORE BACK FROM THE INJECTION. IF I HAD BEEN TOLD ABOUT THE SIDE EFFECTS. I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THE INJECTION. NOW , I DO NOT KNOW IF THE PROLIA EVEN HELPS THE BONE LOSS. THE FDA SHOULD BE SUED. THIS IS OUT...

I took Prolia and I have severe discomfort in my mouth. I am afraid that Reclast will do as much harm as Prolia. The doctor wants me on Reclast but I am very afraid of the jaw problem and the pain in my mouth is horrible. My tongue and my lips have given me some kind of reaction allergic and feels swollen. I am also afraid of losing some teeth. ## Hello, Lala! How are you? It is a different type of drug, but to be honest, there have also been a lot of issues reported by those that have tried it. The best suggestion I can make is to go in and sit down with your doctor and have a heart to heart covering your fears and concerns. Have them give you the full side effect information, so they can help you make a fully informed decision. And remember, no matter what your doctor 'wants' ...

I have done Forteo, Prolia and now my doctor wants me to do Reclasp. I am 75 years old, haven't had any fractures I am aware of. Forteo caused more pain than usual, Prolia caused hair loss and the texture of my hair changed. The hair loss I mean bald spots. I have put off the Reclasp my doctor is wanting me to do, more poison going into my body and I don't feel any better. At my age, I have enough aches and pain without medication making me feel worse. ANYONE have anything positive to say about this drug. ## Unfortunately, I haven't read any posts from anyone that's had good experiences with Reclast, or most of the other medications that you've listed. They are all known to cause side effects, such as nausea, diarrhea, joint aches, bone pain, and elevated calcium lev...

Prolia Denosumab

could extreme tiredness be a side effect from prolea ## Hi Wilda, Sorry to hear about your reaction to Prolia. Based on my research, tiredness and weakness are actually both listed as side effects of this medication. So yes.. it is possible that this could be the cause of your symptoms. However you should probably also discuss this with your doctor in case you think those effects could've been triggered by something else that you might be taking or eating. You can also see these side effects posted in the link below for verification: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMHT0009849/?report=details#side_effects How long have you been taking it for until you noticed this happening?

I am very sorry about the problem that you've run into. You are not the first to complain about Prolia and I am expecting many more still to follow, it just doesn't seem to work well for many people. And yes, though it will take time, most side effects do eventually wear off. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Ive had 2 shots so far 60 mlgs in 12 months. I take ldn for ms...it does help my energy level. My dr wants me to start Prolia for osteoporosis. This drug effects the immune system. I know ldn helps to boost the immune system. Can these 2 drugs be taken together? I need to make a decision soon. I'd like to hear about anyone with ms using Prolia.....I'm scared. ## I just had a Prolia injection 2 weeks ago. I can tell you this, I would rather be in a wheelchair in a nursing home than have this in my system. It completely and totally DELETES YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM. I'm really sick and need to go to the ER but I cannot be around other sick people without an immune system. I will NEVER have another one in my lifetime. Also have a couple of very needed surgeries scheduled that will most probably be cancelled because I have NO IMM...

I had my first inyection by the end of June. I am 57 and had an spine fracture. Befo re prolia I was taken biophosphonates. So far so good, no side effects. Worried about the comments read. ## Hope everything is going well for you and that you will get improvements in your bones strenth. For me, unfortunately, taking a single injection of PROLIA on May 24, 2013 has resulted in ongoing suffering, as I have described in my earlier comments on this website. Would be Interested to know if you are still feeling no side effects 2-3 weeks after injection? ## Just had my first shot Monday feeling kinda like I've been poisoned. Hope this gets better , on my 4th day. Please tell me it gets better. I won't take it again.

I have just had the Prolia injection. So far no side affects that I am aware of. Is there anyone who has continued with Prolia (Denosumab) and had positive results after three years? thanks ## There are many people that have experienced good results from Prolia. What you have to remember though, is that most of them have no reason to go hunting up a site like this to find more information on it. The people that usually post on sites like this one are those that have had a problem and are looking for help, or support. Typical side effects of this medication, according to the FDA, may include administration site reactions, muscle/bone pain, cough, swollen joints, and loose teeth. Can anyone that's done well on Prolia chime in with their experience? ## I just completed 2 shots (one ful...
