I have been prescribed C-progesterone cream for my hot flashes since I cannot take HRT orally. When I fill this prescription, it is filled by a pharmacy that has to prepare the compound a day in advance for me to purchase. Can c-progesterone be purchased at a local pharmacy so I can use my insurance? It is very costly and and I would like to be able to use it at CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, Target, etc. ## No, generally this compound must be done by a specialty compounding pharmacy, so regular pharmacies will not carry it. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, spotting, and irritability. Hi, my wife is 6 weeks pregnant. The doctor prescribed her Progesterone 200. Dr. told her it can be administered orally or vaginally. Which one works best? She had a little spotting also. ## Hello, Vakeri! How are you and your wife? Congrats on the baby! Using them vaginally usually results in more absorption of the medication. I am 60 yrs old and have been menopausal 2 yrs. A hysterosonography Aug. 7, 2013 revealed I have hyperplasia (thickened uterus wall). I had 2 days very light spotting in June and I am scheduled for a DNC in mid November. My Dr. prescribed Progesterone to take orally 1 per day. I asked her if I could use Prometrium - the botanical based "natural" alternative to synthetic hormones. She said yes. I just picked up my prescription and it was for Progesterone 200 mg. The pharmacist said Prometrium is just another name for Progesterone and is no longer manufactured? This is not what I have researched and is it true Prometrium is no longer manufactured? I have noticed hair loss when shampooing hair. I was taking a pill c-triest.progesterone 2mg/100mg. Took for 6 months and got off of it for 3 months, Started taking again in January. Could any of this cause hair loss? ## Hello, Lily! How are you? Yes, the estrogens can cause hair loss, especially if they are the dominant hormone. That's actually why many women in perimenopause and menopause experience hair loss, when you don't ovulate each month, or stop ovulating, you don't produce as much progesterone, but you are always inundated with estrogens. You may want to speak to your doctor about making some dosage adjustments, such as raising the progesterone and/or lowering the estrogens. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for your help.

So I just had a baby two months ago and have been patiently waiting for my period to start and it has yet to come, I'm a mother of two and dnt want any more kids so I'm planning on getting my tubes tied but can't until my cycle starts. I called my doc and he put me on 200 mg of progesterone for a 12 day period to induce my cycle. My question is how long does it usually take to start ur period after taking this medicine? ## Hello, Mamushka! How are you? You should start within a day or two of finishing the Progesterone. It is generally a sudden drop off of it that starts your cycle. Where do you live? In the U.S. this procedure is often done immediately after giving birth, with no waiting for a cycle required.

Was prescribed for heavy vaginal bleedingand irregular periods. ## HOW WILL PROVERA HELP ME WITH HEAVY BLEEDING, CLOTTING TAKEN IN CONJUNCTION WITH OVRAL? ## Provera contains a synthetic form of Progesterone, which is a hormone vital to the female menstrual cycle. In many cases, issues such as amenorrhea, PMS, PCOS/PCOD and the symptoms associated with perimenopause/menopause are caused by a deficiency in it. Thus, supplementing it back can help correct the issues. You can learn more Provera details here. Since this one is a synthetic form, it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, weight changes and headache. And something such as Ovral is often given to help try to keep your hormones regulated long-term, once you are finished with the Provera. Are there any comments and qu...

Anyone in the know whether or not progesterone creme can be helpful in men with prostate maladies? ## I climax early and my sperms are not strong/powerful and they are eaching as if they"ve got an acid, so my partner doesn't fill anything. what can I use to stop that? ## @Bob, From what I've been reading, Progesterone is actually vital for maintaining good health in men. But when we get older we don't produce as much, which may be linked to various prostate problems... depending on the underlying cause of it. Diet plays an important role too. Because we don't know the underlying cause of your prostate maladies, I think deciding on whether or not to supplement with Progesterone would be probably better determined by a combination of you and your doctor or urologist...
