I have taken Procardia XL GITS pill for 21 years. When I went on Medicare, they told me they didn't make them anymore. I am on a generic Adalat 60 mg now and have been very aware of my heartbeat ever since November 2012. I tried calling Pfizer and Mylan. They gave me no help. Does anyone know if these pills are still on the market? The pill I was taking is a round pill, medicine embedded in plastic shell with a laser-drilled hole in the center. Please help me if anyone knows where I can get them. ## Based on my research, there haven't been any verifiable claims or FDA announcements regarding the discontinuation of Procardia. So I do wonder if what they told you was even true. Often times Medicare only accepts/covers certain brands or generics, and it may just be that they don...

I am having side effects (joint pain, jaw pain and dizziness) from procardia. Are there any substitutions with less side effects? ## Procardia contains the active ingredient Nifedipine, which is a calcium channel blockers that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions and these are well known to cause these types of side effects in some people. And yes, there are many other similar medications on the market that treat the same conditions, but in other classes that might work better for you. Have you talked to your doctor about it? They should be able to prescribed a different medication that won't cause these types of symptoms. One that's known to cause fewer side effects, in most people is the drug Carvedilol: I took it for over a year...

I was given this for fluid retention, I already take procardia for blood pressure, should I be taking the hydrochlorot or another water pill? ## no, dont take another water pill it may interact to your other med.. try to talk to your doctor first.. ## HI, Sat! How are you? Any diuretic, aka water pill, is going to affect your blood pressure, not just this one. Learn more Hydrochlorothiazide details here. They are commonly used to help lower high blood pressure. If your doctor has prescribed both, then you should just be aware of it, so you can keep an eye on your blood pressure in case it goes too low and they should be monitoring you regularly. Are there any other questions or concerns?

severe anorectal pain despite stool softeners, steroid/xylocaine suppositories, procardia rectal gel to avoid spasms, and sitz baths. It is now 6/10 but was up to 9/10 and unbearable. Only 1.5 weeks of therapy and pure torture. Other suggestions? ## Hi Punky, just curious-- have you been able to eat the 20 grams of fat with each dose? What foods do you eat to get your 20 grams? I wonder if some foods can make it worse or better. Thanks and good luck, Rose ## Have you continued discussing the issue with your doctor and following their advice? With your medical condition and the medication, they are really the only person qualified to provide you with advice on this matter. The rectal problems are common side effects of using Telaprevir.
