I could really use some advice here. I moved to the Chicago area from out West and the pain management is like night and day from there to here. I feel like b/c there is such a drug abuse problem in the Chicagoland region the doctors I have seen are not willing to prescribe opiates and if they do they aren't willing to prescribe what is necessary to provide pain relief. The doctors I have been seeing in the Chicagoland area seem dead set on installing a Spinal Cord Stimulator. I have also had a doctor who only wants to do epidurals, injections and when he looked at what I was prescribed to when I came and saw him, he literally flipped out. Followed swiftly by a drastic drop in my medications and him saying "you'll be on motrin by this summer". Yet just a month and a 1/2 ...

need a list and pictures of all narcotic pills to teach my teenager ## I am afraid that will be virtually impossible, at least on the pictures aspect. The reason for this is that when medications are available for generic production, there is no standardized shape, size, color or imprint. The US FDA only requires they have a unique imprint so the manufacturer, type of drug and dosage can be identified in case of emergency, but they are, quite literally, made by thousands of different companies, so there are thousands of pills on the market that contain narcotics and they all look different and have different markings. It would be simply impossible for you or your teenager to memorize all of them. Even doctors and pharmacists do not have them all memorized. There is a list on the DEA sit...

I HAVE BEN ON METHADONE NOW FOR 16 YEARS TRIED TO GET OFF NOW 3 TIMES ALLERGIC TO SUBOXONE BUT NOT SUBUTEX,CAN NOT FIND A DOCTOR WHO WILL PERSCRIBE ME IT ON MY INSURANCE? WILL TAKE MY INS. ON SUBOXONE?NOT ONE DOCTOR WHO WILL PERSCRIBE ME SUBUTEX? ## Hello, John! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Is your allergy listed in your medical records? If not, that might be the problem. Suboxone is preferred, because it helps prevent the abuse of other medications, while someone is under treatment with it, as listed by the FDA. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Thus, Subutex is a last resort and only used, when someone has docume...

My primary won't prescribe any narcotics, so I'm looking for a new primary. I am going to Bay State pain mng, but they won't do anything at all until I jump through all their hoops.I have been waiting for 4 months now to get facet injections, and IF i ever get one, I have to wait 3 months in between each one which has been awful. I have 2 ruptured discs, and a third completely gone. It's sitting on my left sciatic nerve. I have been waiting and waiting and waiting, and tried to be proactive, but i'm getting nowhere. I can't take this anymore. I actually NEED some medication, and the pill chasers are screwing people like me over and the doctors are turning a blind eye to what they are doing to people like us. I live near Springfield MA, but I'm willing to driv...

Please I need to find a dr in Louisiana around Leesville/Many area that will write a rx for narcotics. I have had 3 knee surgeries and need a total knee replacement. I am in severe pain every day. I have no menisus left it's bone against bone. ## Have you considered a pain management specialist? There are several in that area, but there's really no way of knowing what they will, or will not prescribe, if anything. Another problem might be due to your specifically asking for narcotics, if that's what you're doing when you see a new doctor. Most doctors will see that as being drug seeking behavior. Does anyone else have any advice to add? ## DR.Troy Beaucoudray 504-885-3737 Metairie, La. He is a Neurologist can write anything so do not be fooled I see him you will get some...

In dire need of doctors in, or near Tuscaloosa AL, that are not scared, and are willing to write narcotic pain medications for my chronic pain. About at the end of my rope. Please help!! ## Hi Barry, I may not have a doctor I can refer you to, but I can provide you with a couple links that may be of service to you in so far as locating pain management doctors within your general area. Just input your city or zip code for narrowed results: {link removed because site no longer exists} wellness.com/find/pain%20management%20specialist I'd consider calling up a number of them to see if they are accepting new patients. To get a real vibe for the doctor you may even want to follow up with a visit in person. Unfortunately, no one can really know ahead of time what a doctor is or is not will...

I have multiple horrendous back problems, to say the least. I used to be on fentanyl patches, somas, percs, and methadone before the patches. I live in a very rural area and the drs make it clear that they no longer prescribe narcotics period. That's so unfare. I despertly need pain relief. Plz help. ## Hello, Aimer! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain and having such a problem. There were new regulations put in place last year that restrict what PCPs can prescribe, so you will need to find a pain management specialist to continue such medications. Have you tried asking your current doctor to refer you to someone? And can you please post back with your general area of PA? I am originally from there and may know of some doctors you can try in your area. This is a ...

I am looking for a doctor that can prescribe Vicodin in sylva nc or candler nc I have sciatica problems and I am in horrible pain please help. ## Hello, Stephanie! How are you? If you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, then you will need to see a pain management specialist, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year. Additionally, all combination medications that contain Hydrocodone are going to be under more strict control as of early next month. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone? If so, that would be the easiest way to find the help you need. Can anyone su...

My primary dr refuses to prescribe any pain medication at all for me, even though I have 2 ruptured discs, and my L5-S1 is completely gone so it's bone on bone and I have the MRI to prove it. He sent me to a pain management doctor, whose policy is to refer back to the primary for any narcotics...the Professional Run-around... I was on Tramadol from January 2014 to May. It wasn't the best, but made it so I could function. I had a seizure from it the first week of May, and have been without any medication ever since. Both doctors know this, and won't do anything. I have been waiting since May for authorization from the insurance for facet injections. This is ridiculous that I have been in so much pain that I sleep less than an hour a night, have had to go on a medical leave fro...

Have an excellent doc but he does not practice pain management due to dea regulations and paperwork etc i need a family doc who handled pain management. ## This is no longer possible! Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, you'll have to see a pain management specialist if you require narcotics for pain control, then another doctor for your other health issues. The easiest way to get the help you need would be to ask your current doctor to refer you to someone. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Where do you live? My doctor does my primary care AND pain management. She has 2 specialties. I am only required to make separate appts. For pain management issues. There are no plans for this to change. I asked yesterday.

I found this great Pain Specialist who actually helps people with legitimate problems that have found that they are only helped with Narcotics. This Doctor does not treat you like a drug fiend and actually believes you when you tell the truth. He then prescribes a reasonable amount of narcotics to help make your life better. Once you have proved you are honest you don't have to take a drug panel every month either and he writes a 3 month supply just like with heart medication. Sound Like a dream? It is; at least from my 20 years of experience of being a pain patient. Why can't people who have real medical problems get real medical help when they need it? I think some Doctors need to get their butts sued and medical licences lost for lack of proper care of people in 24x7 agony! T...

I have a bulging disc and go to Kelsey Seybold as part of my insurance plan. I took ultram or ultracet for 18 years whenever I needed pain medicine cause I couldn't function on Vicodin or the other hydrocodones. I never had a problem with it, I took it as needed and that was that. Now that they made it a narcotic because some people did get addicted to it???? The doctors at Kelsey Seybold won't prescribe it and treat me as if I'm asking for OxyContin or something. I'm very upset at this! ## Cindy, I'm so sorry to hear of your situation. THIS IS THE UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES OF RESCHEDULING certain drugs with abuse potential. YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE UPSET. I'm uncertain of this process for tramadol was a result of our countries opiate epidemic or more of a safety...

I too am a chronic pain sufferer, I was in a bad car accident several years ago, all my limbs were broken at once and they used my hip to rebuild one of my feet. I have a GP that has been helping me but now feels she has been letting me use too many narcotics and has abrubtly cut me off. I'm interested in controlling the pain not using the pills but it feels like nobody really cares. Is there any doctors in the Kansas City area who believe in pain management with narcotics. I believe that if you don't understand the pain of the indivdual it's hard to understand why we ask these questions. I don't want to shop for a docotor that's not what I do but what are we suppose to do if they won't help us. ## Hello, JJ! How are you doing? I am very sorry about the problem t...

I have both chronic and acute headaches. I've taken everything. The only relief I ever get is through narcotics. No one will prescribe them so I've spent the last 10 years in bed, in the dark. I would really like to die because the pain is so bad. When it gets bad I'll go to the ER but they won't even help me. I also have a problem with my body making kidney stones. Please help. ## Hello, Rocky! How are you? Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require narcotics on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a specialist. A PCP won't be able to prescribe them for you. Thus, you'll likely need to see a neurologist and a urologist. Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to other doctors? Please some one help i am taking suboxon 8mg2times day I cant stand them I am so hot every 20mins I feel like am gonna pass out please is there a doctor anywhere near Akron even 60Miles away that i can get methadone. My last hope clinc is to packed help ## Hello, Sky! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. However, for Methadone treatment, a clinic is your only option under current law. A private practice doctor cannot legally prescribe it for you. It can only be given in a clinical setting by those specially trained in its use. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Does anyone else have any ideas?
