Old many back arthritis problems r a and osteoporosis among other things bad bones lower half especially of my body also chronic fatigue very low thyroid synthroid no longer helps it 14 yrs. I have chronic pain and have tried everything: physical therapy,acupuncture , nerve blocks, steroid and non steroid injections, epidural a, pain pump, tens machine, I have herniated, bludging and bone on bone disks in my while back. In addition I have a large kidney stone that has to be removed. I have taken narcotics before and know that they work. I have proof of my condition .im in south pain and I just want to find a doctor who will prescribe narcotics as nothing else has worked.i have 4 children, no quality of life, can't do normal everyday things. I could really use some advice here. I moved to the Chicago area from out West and the pain management is like night and day from there to here. I feel like b/c there is such a drug abuse problem in the Chicagoland region the doctors I have seen are not willing to prescribe opiates and if they do they aren't willing to prescribe what is necessary to provide pain relief. The doctors I have been seeing in the Chicagoland area seem dead set on installing a Spinal Cord Stimulator. I have also had a doctor who only wants to do epidurals, injections and when he looked at what I was prescribed to when I came and saw him, he literally flipped out. The reason for this is that when medications are available for generic production, there is no standardized shape, size, color or imprint. The US FDA only requires they have a unique imprint so the manufacturer, type of drug and dosage can be identified in case of emergency, but they are, quite literally, made by thousands of different companies, so there are thousands of pills on the market that contain narcotics and they all look different and have different markings. I am going to Bay State pain mng, but they won't do anything at all until I jump through all their hoops.I have been waiting for 4 months now to get facet injections, and IF i ever get one, I have to wait 3 months in between each one which has been awful. Please I need to find a dr in Louisiana around Leesville/Many area that will write a rx for narcotics. I have had 3 knee surgeries and need a total knee replacement. I am in severe pain every day. There are several in that area, but there's really no way of knowing what they will, or will not prescribe, if anything. I have multiple horrendous back problems, to say the least. I used to be on fentanyl patches, somas, percs, and methadone before the patches. I have had 3 epidurals, have 3 degenerating discs, have run 55 marathons, completed 5 Ironman Races. I don't smoke or drink and lead a healthy lifestyle. I won't take narcotics. I also flew for a major airlines for 32 yrs. I just learned that my medical will end in Dec. Mom is dying, etc. The only thing that works is xanax, 3 (2 mg) a day. My primary dr refuses to prescribe any pain medication at all for me, even though I have 2 ruptured discs, and my L5-S1 is completely gone so it's bone on bone and I have the MRI to prove it. He sent me to a pain management doctor, whose policy is to refer back to the primary for any narcotics...the Professional Run-around... I was on Tramadol from January 2014 to May. Have an excellent doc but he does not practice pain management due to dea regulations and paperwork etc i need a family doc who handled pain management. ## This is no longer possible! Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, you'll have to see a pain management specialist if you require narcotics for pain control, then another doctor for your other health issues. The easiest way to get the help you need would be to ask your current doctor to refer you to someone. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Where do you live? My doctor does my primary care AND pain management. She has 2 specialties. I am only required to make separate appts. For pain management issues. There are no plans for this to change. I found this great Pain Specialist who actually helps people with legitimate problems that have found that they are only helped with Narcotics. This Doctor does not treat you like a drug fiend and actually believes you when you tell the truth. He then prescribes a reasonable amount of narcotics to help make your life better. Once you have proved you are honest you don't have to take a drug panel every month either and he writes a 3 month supply just like with heart medication. Sound Like a dream? It is; at least from my 20 years of experience of being a pain patient. Why can't people who have real medical problems get real medical help when they need it? I have a bulging disc and go to Kelsey Seybold as part of my insurance plan. I took ultram or ultracet for 18 years whenever I needed pain medicine cause I couldn't function on Vicodin or the other hydrocodones. I never had a problem with it, I took it as needed and that was that. Now that they made it a narcotic because some people did get addicted to it???? I too am a chronic pain sufferer, I was in a bad car accident several years ago, all my limbs were broken at once and they used my hip to rebuild one of my feet. I have a GP that has been helping me but now feels she has been letting me use too many narcotics and has abrubtly cut me off. I'm interested in controlling the pain not using the pills but it feels like nobody really cares. Is there any doctors in the Kansas City area who believe in pain management with narcotics.
