Has federal funding for methadone decreased since the "opiodemic"? I started taking opiates in 1992 because of extreme pain in my hip which I had suffered with since 1979. The medical profession gave me NSAID's and a small script for Tylenol-3. I have since had 2 hip replacements. I am 59 yrs old. I was on and off methadone for years and have been on it steady for 10 years and stayed clean. During this time I have gone from paying $0 to what will start next month at $360.00/mo. ## Manufacturers are free to set their own prices in the U.S. according to supply and demand. Thus, it really has nothing to do with federal regulations, but more to do with market competition and capitalism. The FDA warns that Methadone carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effec...

oxycodone prices have doubled in less than 30 days in tenn. rumor has it that the manufacturers ,being top 8 have been sold an now there is only 1 producer of this product! ## It's not that there is only one manufacturer, now. That is only relevant to the name brand time released product, Oxycontin. The current problem stems from the fact that each year the DEA sets a manufacturing limit on how much of any controlled substance can be made and distributed. The figure is based on prior year prescriptions, as well as information from the FDA and the manufacturers, once the total amount is determined, it is split between the manufacturers. Usually, this gives a very good idea of how much the market will demand in the upcoming year and helps minimize how much is out there to be stolen an...

I am trying to locate the AWP for Ocrevus. Any ideas? I have not been able to locate it anywhere. Thank you. ## Hi Nan, In order to retrieve the average wholesale price (AWP) for any particular product or medication, it would seem to me that you'd need to contact the manufacturer (Genentech) directly [at gene.com/contact-us] and submit an inquiry. You can also visit Ocrevus.com to view their various financial support programs that help cover the cost of Ocrevus. Have you discussed this in any detail with your local pharmacy by chance? I'd imagine that this might even be your best bet seeing as you'd have to pick it up and pay for it through them as it is with any prescription drug?

My husband is taking this drug and last month he paid 8.99,this month it was 58.41 did the price jump up that much.and why? ## Hello, Penny! How are you? Did you ask your pharmacist? Sometimes it's just due to supply and demand, the manufacturer might be having trouble getting some of the raw materials, so they may have had to raise the price.

I've used a discount card for Nuvigil and gotten the first month free, and then the next month came out to $25 or so. This last month it was $120! Wishful thinking, but is it possible to just use a new discount card from my doctor at a different pharmacy? ## Hi Mell, Going to a new pharmacy is always a viable option in my opinion, especially if you're trying to weight out costs. But another thing I would also recommend, is trying to compare a different discount card at the same pharmacy you're used to going to. This way you can determine which one of those cards offers you a greater discount, in relationship to those price fluctuations that have been occurring each month. Do you think that your card just could've expired after your second time using it? Something that co...

I am getting my script filled on thursday and wnated to know if i could save any money by going with the generic. ## Unfortunately, there are no universal cost guidelines for prescription drugs, it can vary from area to area and from pharmacy to pharmacy. Thus, the best thing you can do is to contact your pharmacy and ask them. There have been a few people that said some generics ended up costing them more, while others said it was about the same price, so it's very hard to say. Learn more Suboxone details here. I am interested in getting Prohep in the US. How can I get it and how much does it cost? ## I don't have any information on pricing and whether or not you can import it to the U.S. Prohep, however, is just a nutritional supplement that is believed to help protect the liver. It contains Liver Hydrolysate, Vitamin B12, Choline, Cysteine and Inositol, so it may be possible to find an equivalent here. Are there any questions or comments?

have to take doxycycline hycl 100mg cap blue oblong tablet says mutual 105 on it. Was paying 10$ for 90 then it went up to 50$ now they are charging 299$ suddenly. Isn't mutual 105 generic? Is this pricing right or am I getting robbed? ## Have you asked the pharmacy about it? It is normal for prices to fluctuate, a lot of it depends on what their supplier is getting it for, as well as your location and etc. There are also some cases where they may have a certain medication under contract, so they can offer it for a very cheap price for a certain period of time. This is often true of medications that are on $4 and $10 lists. Then once that contractual agreement has run out, they have to charge more. For example, Walgreens does this with their program, you pay to join it, but then you...
