I have been taking prevastatin 40mg for over a year. Is it okay to stop taking it? If not what are the dangers? ## What has your doctor advised? Pravastatin is used to help lower cholesterol and a sudden cessation of it could result in rebound effects, which means you could experience elevated cholesterol levels that may put you in danger, therefore it isn't wise to discontinue it, without your doctor's approval and supervision. Is the Prevacid solutab time-released even though it doesn't have beads in it? ## Have just been prescribed prevacid solutab for infant with reflux. This tablet looks different from the one I'm familiar with in that it has no pink granules. It's white and is of a completely smooth consitency...no beads in it at all so i am concerned that it isnt time released.... ## A solutab is an orally disintegrating tablet, meant to start dissolving on contact with the saliva in someone's mouth and it not supposed to look like the other tablets. If this is for an infant, then that makes sense, because they may choke on a regular tablet. Prevacid contains the active ingredient Lansoprazole, which is a proton pump inhibitor that is used to reduce th amount of acid produced by the stoma...

Prevalite powder is almost impossible for me to swallow. I have tried mixing with water, applesauce and pineapple juice and follow with lots of water. I am wondering if it comes in capsule form; if not, could it be put into a capsule and still have the same effects? I am 64 years old and have had issues with diarrhea for as long as I can remember and the situation has worsened since gall bladder removal two years ago. Also, flares up during periods of extreme stress. I was hoping the Prevalite would be an answer to my prayers but I can hardly take it without vomiting. I appreciate your feedback until I am able to discuss different options with my doctor. Thanks! ## Hi Suz, I do think that it should definitely be possible to put the powder into empty gelatin capsules for swallowing. I kn...

Never again I'll i take a PPI. ESPECIALLY Prevacid. I was prescribed this by my Gastro for esophagitis, gastritis, and a hiatal hernia. The day after i started taking the medicine i woke up feeling like i had to urinate. i went like normal, and i immediately afterwards i felt like i had to go really bad again. I went again but only a few drops came out. i was afraid it was a UTI so i went to the doctor that day and and she told me that i didn't have any infection. she gave me Cipro just in case but it didn't help 6 days later i was back in the doctor and still the tests came back negative. she told me maybe my urine was ultra concentrated and irritating me making me feel like i had to go. i did also get flank pain and it felt like my back was radiating heat. but she just told m

I went to er on Tuesday and was told I have gastritis but I haven't had the scope test yet to know why. They gave me prevacid and since then I have been nothing but dizzy, jittery, nauseous with headaches and was wondering if there is something else I can take until i get the test on Wednesday. Any feedback would be helpful. ## Hi, Sabrina! Very sorry to hear about the gastritis, that is very miserable pain. How are you feeling today? And as to the scope, that may never explain why you have it, it's almost like getting an ulcer over the entire inside surface of your stomach and it can happen for various reasons, such as an injury in a car wreck or while playing sports, many medications can cause it, as well as heavy drinking and eating highly spicy/acidic foods. I am having 2 stent 3month back, i was prescribed brilinta 90 twice a day i have taken it but coz of its high cost i want to have its alternative, does preva as70 will solve my problem ## There is no best medication that I can mention, it really depends on what works best and is safest for you. The best thing to do would be to explain the cost issue to your doctor and ask them what else you can try that would be cheaper. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects of these medications as possibly including nausea, dizziness, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising. Are you on any other medications?

Is Dexilant 30mg the same potincy as Prevacid 30mg. I have heard that Dexilant is stronger that Prevacid. ## Hello, Tdog! How are you? They are basically equivalent, because they are enantiomers of each other, IE: their molecules are mirror images. One may work better for you than the other, due to idiosyncrasies of the human body, but otherwise, neither is stronger than the other. The FDA lists the typical side effects of PPIs as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence. Is there anything else I can help with?
