I left the oralcon pill 4 months ago so now I feel dizzy and vomiting all the time I barely cant eat food and I have stared shaking as well. please advise what might be the problem because those are pregnancy sign and sometimes I don't go to the period for two months and go in the 3rd month and sometimes I don't go for one month and go again is it normal when left the prevention pill ## Hello, Minks! No, if you start it later than the second day of your period, it takes a full 7 days for it to become effective at preventing pregnancy and it is only effective as long as you continue taking it. That's why some women have gotten pregnant from just forgetting to take one of them. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS-like symptoms. As long as you haven't missed any of the active tablets, then you are protected, regardless of whether or not you have a period. To be effective, these must be taken daily for at least 7 days, before engaging in intercourse. There are some that you can take in higher doses, after intercourse, to help prevent pregnancy, but that most be done within the first 24 hours to have the best results and within 5 days to still be somewhat effective at prevention.
