Can someone take 10 mg of Prednisone then just stop or do you have to taper off? ## Just one tablet likely won't require a taper, but it's also not going to help you much, since that won't give it a chance to have much of a therapeutic effect in the body. Learn more Prednisone details here. Did you suffer some odd side effects from it that is making you stop it? ## I have been to dr today. Have been taking Rulide fir4days. She changed it over cilex 500 mg 3 x a day. Also out me on prednisolone 25mg. I have only taken one tablet. I cannotsleep and jaw is clenshing. Been reading up on side effects. I have had problems with my feet and legs swelling for over 10 years. Recently, I was placed on Prednisone by the doctor for possible RA. The fluid retention in my feet and legs have gone down considerably. I know that this is not the normal side effect taking this medication. Could you possibly tell me the ingredient that could be causing this? I have tried other fluid retention medication and nothing seems to work, but I'm not comfortable taking the Prednisone for a long period of time to solve the fluid retention problem. ## There are no other active ingredients, it is Prednisone, which is a steroid class medication. So, I do understand your concern about taking it for a long period of time, that can be very dangerous. Learn more Prednisone details here. What type of diet do you ... ...

Need help with tablet count for prescription. I'm a student and I have to calculate the number of tablets needed to fill the rx. Prescription reads Prednisone 10MG # QS. The SIG is: 30mg bid x 2d 25mg bid x 2d 20mg bid x 2d 15mg bid x 2d 10mg qd x 2d 5mg qd x 2d (then stop) I also need help with writing the patient label based on this rx ... Thank you. Alan ## Hi Alan, I'm not quite familiar with your method for calculating the number of pills. Is there a type of formula you are following to get where you are? It's definitely something that one would consider to be as simple as putting the right number of pills into the right container, but I can see that it is much more than just that. Below are a couple of sites that I thought could be of help to you when calculating or co... ...

How do I taper off of it. It has caused me so many different side effects. I have been taking it for 8 months ## Hi Alice, Sorry to hear about your challenges with Prednisone. From what I've researched online, it's usually best to work closely with your doctor on developing an appropriate tapering schedule while monitoring your progress as often as he/she see's fit.. This is because the amount of time that it may take to wean off Prednisone not only depends on the type of disease being treated, the dose/duration of use, but also other individual medical considerations as well. And if you were to experience any complications during the tapering process, at least in this situation your doctor would understand what's going on and would try do whatever it takes to help you r... ...

pills expired in 2008- are they still good to treat poison oak in August 2011 ## Certain drugs are actually okay to take after expiration, whereas others such as antibiotics can become toxic. My personal assumption is that it lost a good percentage of its potency by now, having been 3-4 years old. I would also check with your doctor or pharmacy to make sure that you're using the most effective treatment option for poison oak. It may still be effective, but not nearly as potent. It's also impossible to give a direct answer to this question, since each medication can effect people differently. We all know that it's better to avoid the expired drugs and stay on the safe side, but unfortunately, the only way to find out is to actually try it. I wouldn't suggest taking that r... ...

A 90 year old woman was diagnosed with penumonia about 4 weeks ago which required hospitalization. She was placed on an antibiotics was not getting any better. Was rushed by ambulance to the hospital for choking and was placed on prednisone of 50 mg/day for a week with a plan to have the prednisone decreased by 10mg/day every week there after, until weaned. She starts today with 20 mg(s)/day for the next week, but has not regained any of her energy. I am praying for a miracle that she will regain her strength, but it does not look very promising. After 2 years on Prednisone at 10mg for RA I'm worried about tapering off and how to do it. My Dr. has moved and I'm not seeing one now. Trying to handle on my own.....Advice, please. ## Hello, Mimi! How are you? If you've been taking it for this long, it needs to be slowly tapered off, by gradual dose reduction. The best thing to do would be to see a new doctor to get their assistance, because they can prescribe the lower dose tablets to help you. There can be some dangerous risks associated with a sudden withdrawal after long-term use. You really need to find a new doctor, anyway, so just doing so now would be the best thing to do. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, fluid retention, acne, nervousness and insomnia. small white round pill with z 2907 on it ## There is no definitive way to say what Prednisone looks like, the way it looks can ary greatly by manufacturer, there are no guidelines saying that all pills containing a certain med have to look the same. They can vary in size, color, shape and imprint. The only guidelines for pills from the FDA says the imprints have to be unique for identification purposes. Even these differ from company to company and according to the dosage of the pill. Now, as to this pill, Z 2907 is Furosemide 40mgs. I am interested in hearing about any bad experiences with the prednisone. My husband has been taking it for 1 year. He started on 50mg and has been trying to taper all year but in the past his disease has flared up as the dose got lower and so it was increased again. This time he has been luck and got down to 10mg and then began losing his mind. In the last couple of weeks he has had panic attacks, mood swings, brain fades (moments of complete blankness where he is unable to talk/move or anything, inability to speak, dis inhibited behaviour and peculiar behaviour where he will simply repeats words over and over. His specialist says that it's the prednisone withdrawal and this will all improve as he tapers (he is down to 5mg now). He can't work or socialise which is so sad for ou... ...

Should I skip the next dose for the next hours, any suggestions? ## Hi Michael! What did you end up doing? The only suggestion I would've been able to make, had I read your post sooner, was to check with your doctor or pharmacist. Tapering off of steroids has to be done very carefully, so I am not sure how much taking the wrong dosage and going back up would screw things up. You can learn more Prednisone details here. ...

Due to acute, severe Osteoarthritic shoulder pain, an Emergency Room physician prescribed one, 10mg/21 tablet medrol dose pak, of Prednisone (Prednisone is written in big bold black letters, on the yellow box), to be taken over a six day period, in equally divided doses, one less tablet each day: 6-5-4-3-2-1), along with a sling and NO X-Rays. I filled the prescription on Tuesday and started taking it, but by around 6pm on Tuesday, my shoulder was even worse! Having heard the news that another local hospital was better, I went to the alternate and "that" hospital ER physician (an M.D. this time, as opposed to a P.A., on Monday), gave me a much better sling, a swathe, as well, a "complete* series of shoulder X-Rays, and yet another prescription for the "identical" box... ...
