Hi I have just got back from the hospital and the Dr had given me 28X prednisolone. On the sticker she's wrote : Take 6 tablets once a day for 3 days. Does this mean take 6 tablets all at once or spread it through the day? It just seems a little wild taking 6 in 1 go... why not just put me on a higher dose...? ## Hello, Charlie! How are you? Unless the instructions say otherwise, you can do either, or; you can split them up, or take them all at once. This medication can cause nausea, anxiety, insomnia and nervousness as side effects, so some people do prefer to take them all at once, in the morning, so they aren't dealing with such issues at bedtime. It could simply be that the dosage you needed is hard to find. Is there anything else I can help with?

The FDA classifies this medication as a steroid and lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, acne and weight gain.

why am i prescribed ent 5mgprednislone for phlem in throat ## Hi Kate, Listed below is a pretty detailed explanation for reasons why this drug is prescribed by your doctor: "Prednisone is used alone or with other medications to treat the symptoms of low corticosteroid levels (lack of certain substances that are usually produced by the body and are needed for normal body functioning). Prednisone is also used to treat other conditions in patients with normal corticosteroid levels. These conditions include certain types of arthritis; severe allergic reactions; multiple sclerosis (a disease in which the nerves do not function properly); lupus (a disease in which the body attacks many of its own organs); and certain conditions that affect the lungs, skin, eyes, kidneys blood, thyroid, st...

I was prescribed Prednisolone to treat Polymyalgia 11 years ago. Initially I took 15mg a day which was quickly reduced to 10 and gradually to 5mg. I have tried gradually reducing the dose many times in the intervening years but always ended up with a severe return of the original problem. I have now managed to reduce the dose to 4mg daily. My condition is aggravated by my having type 2 Diabetes for which I take insulin because of the steroid treatment. I have recently noticed swelling in my legs and ankles during the evening more especially during periods of hot weather. Also my stomach and breasts seem enlarged. I am trying again to reduce the dose but am concerned about long term effects. Any comments or advice would be appreciated. ## You may always have to take a medication to treat...

How to gradually reduce 40mg daily dosage of deltacotril having taken this for 3 days. Unsure if GP said to reduce by 10mg or 20 mg daily. Thanks ## Hi, Ann! Calling your GP to check is never a bad idea. However, I doubt that it was a 20mg reduction, such tapering is usually done in 5 or 10mg increments, but you should definitely call them to check and be sure. It's really for your own health and safety, since there are serious risks associated with the sudden withdrawal of a high dose. Is there anything else I can help with? I have been prescribed 6 tabs of 5mg a day. Do I take them all at once or spread out over the day? ## Hi Frankie, The "usual adult dose" varies for each individual, but is generally taken in divided doses 1 to 4 times a day. Your doctor may recommend that you take it at various times throughout the day or all at once, but that is for him/her to decide since it's different for everyone. Unfortunately, because of this, I can't really give a more direct answer; but I hope this general advice helps! ## Hi I was diagnoesed with bell's pulsy around 6months back and dr asked me to start deltacortil, 30mg per day, thrice in a day. Recently I had an absess, went on antibiotics and got the tooth removed. At the same time my left hand side of my face pulled down somewhat - my lips at the side, my eyelid, hard to talk or smile, face distorted. My doctor says it might be Bells Palsy. I was diagnosed one year ago with ulcerative colitis. After being put on numerous amounts of different medications, my gastroenterologist decided the most effective thing to do would to be to start the drug azathioprine, taking prednisolone as well - starting at 60mg per day and decreasing the dosage by 5mg every week. I am currently now on 20mg per day and have noticed a significant weight gain (around 8kg) and my face has increased massively (especially swollen eyelids and a double chin as well) I used to be of an average body type and frame (not too skinny and not too robust) but it has gotten to the point where I refuse to go in photos and end up having to leave parties or social events early, as I let my emotions get the better of me, and just end up in tears.. The first thing I no...

I have been give Trolic 5mg tabs by a MP but I'm a bit worried because I have to take 3 tabs once a day.Is it safe in pregnancy and what is it for. ## Trolic is listed as containing the steroid Prednisone and, as to taking it during pregnancy, there have actually been no studies done, though its active metabolite Prednisolone has been shown to cause fetal harm. Learn more Prednisone details here. What are you taking it for? Since you are pregnant, it would probably be best to sit down with the doctor and discuss the benefits and risks of taking it during your pregnancy, so you can make an informed decision on what you should do.
