I was taken one 10 MEQ of potassium once a day. Now they tell me I need to take 50 mg a day, but I called the pharmacy and they said that I need to take two of 10 MEQ capsules a day. So that is 20 meq. But is that too much potassium in a day? Because potassium comes in MEQ not mg. So should I take 2 tabs a day or go back to just 1 tab a day? They said that the 10 meq is equal to 750 mg so that is 1500 mg a day. When I should use pot cl and what are the benefits? ## Hi, Abdo! This is just a potassium supplement, it is vital to our overall health and a deficiency in it can cause quite a few health issues, such as high blood pressure, elevated heart rate and irregular heart rhythm. However, you shouldn't take it, unless your doctor has actually done a blood test and told you that you need to take it, because too much of it can also be very dangerous. Did your doctor prescribe this for you? ## I was prescribed pot cl micro 10 meg along with water pill. Now that I'm not taking the water pill I've been still taking the potassium since August. What danger am in. I feel something going on ## Can I crush these very large tablets?

I use this and am looking for a new supplier ## Finding a new supplier really depends on where you are located, and what's available in your region. It also depends on whether or not you are looking for a prescription pill vs pure powder form or other OTC variations. The FDA deemed that (over the counter) supplements can only have up to 99 mg of elemental Potassium per pill and 100 mg or higher requires a prescription…so a prescription could be several times more potent, saving you from taking several pills a day of a supplement. NOTE: Orally, Potassium Chloride is toxic "in excess". In the U.S. Potassium Chloride (powdered form) is manufactured by several companies which you can view in the link below (near the top of the list): Other Potassium Chloride br...
