I need to find a less expensive alternative for Pot CL Micro 10MEQ. What is the MG equivalent that can be purchased over the counter? ## That is a generic and really shouldn't be that expensive. As to the conversion, I am not sure it would be any cheaper, since you would need 390mgs, to equal the 10meq dose.

I was taken one 10 MEQ of potassium once a day. Now they tell me I need to take 50 mg a day, but I called the pharmacy and they said that I need to take two of 10 MEQ capsules a day. So that is 20 meq. But is that too much potassium in a day? Because potassium comes in MEQ not mg. So should I take 2 tabs a day or go back to just 1 tab a day? They said that the 10 meq is equal to 750 mg so that is 1500 mg a day. I use this and am looking for a new supplier ## Finding a new supplier really depends on where you are located, and what's available in your region. It also depends on whether or not you are looking for a prescription pill vs pure powder form or other OTC variations. The FDA deemed that (over the counter) supplements can only have up to 99 mg of elemental Potassium per pill and 100 mg or higher requires a prescription…so a prescription could be several times more potent, saving you from taking several pills a day of a supplement. NOTE: Orally, Potassium Chloride is toxic "in excess". In the U.S. Potassium Chloride (powdered form) is manufactured by several companies which you can view in the link below (near the top of the list): Other Potassium Chloride br...

How many should a 78 year old female take daily. ## Hi, Rick! This is a prescription potassium supplement, so she should only be taking it if her doctor has instructed her to do so and then only in the prescribed amount each day. Low potassium can be dangerous, since it is vital to heart function, as well as quite a few other body functions, but too much can be just as dangerous. It also needs to be swallowed whole and preferably taken with a small meal, since it can be very irritating to the stomach. How much is she taking?
