Being diabetic, I am taking pioz 15 & glizide M daily after meals but sugar level remains 160. Pl. suggest may I continue or consult our doctor. Pl. also inform whether 160 is normal blood sugar level after meals. ## It is normal for there to be some elevation after meals, but there are also some other relevant things that should be taken under consideration. The first is, you said you are taking them after you meal, this means that if you are checking your blood sugar level right after you finish eating, the medication hasn't even had a chance to start working, yet. It will take them 15 to 20 minutes to start working in your body and, at that point, the full effects of your food haven't even hit your body, yet. Ideally, these medications should be taken just before a meal, ...

I am diabetic since last 20 years. Recently my doctor prescribed Pioz 7.5. I am on insulin. I am taking Human Actrapit 3 times before every meal and Lantus at night. After taking Pioz there is a weight gain and swelling on the feet. Kindly suggest, do I need to take Pioz if I ma on insulin? Your reply would be appreciated. Many Thanks! ## Hello, Shabnam! How are you? What are your blood sugar readings? If they are still high and out of control, yes, you may need the additional medication. However, you should have the weight gain and swelling checked out to be safe. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence. Diabetic since 20 years now m 53 years, Just started with this medicine...needed to know:- 1. Does it contain Steroids or element of Insulin? 2. Any side effects on Heart, kidneys etc.? ## No, this does not contain steroids of any type. The active ingredients are Pioglitazone, Glimepiride and Metformin, all of which are oral antidiabetic medications used to help lower band control blood sugar. Thus, they are different than insulin, but do work similarly on your blood sugar. I am using Pioz MF G2 to control my Blood sugar since two years. Blood sugar level is well controlled. Recently when I tried to find this medicine from market, I am told this is banned due to some chances of stomach cancer. Can any Doctor advise me why it is banned and should I continue the same medicine or not. Regards, Sanjib M. ## Hi Sanjib, Based on my research, the ban on Pioglitazone (Pioz MF G2) in India was actually revoked back in August of 2013. Apparently the reason why it was banned in the first place had to do with the central government's opinion concerning the safety of Pioglitazone, thinking it may have had life-threatening side effects (I believe cancer was one of them). However, after several protests from doctors across the country, I guess they let up on their de...

Sir, Can daily usage of Pioz-75 lead to hypoglycemia? Is metformin 250 mg safer than Pioz-75? ## There is no way to say that one is safer than the other, it really depends on which one works best for you, without making you sick or causing undesirable side effects. As reported by the NIH, both of them could cause hypoglycemia as a side effect, others may include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, and flatulence. Is there anything else I can help with?

What are the differences in Glycomet GP1 Forte and Glycomet GP2 Forte? ## They both contain Metformin and Glimepiride, however, the difference is in the dosage of the Glimepiride in them. Aside from the 500mgs of Metformin, the GP1 contains 1mg of the Glimepiride and the GP2 contains 2mgs of it. These are both oral antidiabetic medications, that may cause side effects such as: nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence.
