my question is I was on lorazapan for anxiety but the drowsiness got me in trouble is their any anxiety medication that won't cause drowsiness. I told my Dr. not to prescribe it for me anymore. My question is, I need something, is their anything else I can take. ## Hello, Eileen! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem you've had. You may do better with one of the SSRI antidepressants that can be used to treat anxiety, such as Prozac or Zoloft. They've both been successful at helping many people with anxiety, but since you take them all the time, your body gets used to the medications and the side effects, such as drowsiness, wear off after a few weeks. Other side effects may include nausea, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking ambien for many years now. Recently I filled a 3 month supply from what I've now discovered is a less than reputable pharmacy, but as I have no insurance, the cost was less than what I've been paying. My question is this....when i take ambein, I wake up feeling great...no medicine hangover so to speak. Since I've been taking the Stilnox, I feel like I've been drugged with valium or something for the entire day. I've googled these pills, and everything says they are the same thing, but the sure don't affect me the same. One other note, on the bottle I got, it said they were manufactured in 2007. Could it be that they are too old to take? ## Stilnox is listed as containing the active ingredient Zolpidem, which is the same as the active ingredient...

I was just prescribed lorazepam to help deal with the anxiety of my husband of 18 years divorcing me. He can't seem to wrap his mind around supporting me towards wellness, and he has contributed to the severity of the depression...for about 14 years. My concern is that lorazepam will make me drowsy and create muddled thinking. I really need my wits about me to navigate my way through the divorce. So, reducing anxiety at the cost of clear thinking doesn't do me much good. My Doc is replacing Xanax because it just knocks me out. What are other people's experience with this drug? Anybody get relief from anxiety WITHOUT drowsiness? I'm going to try a mid dose today (Saturday) in the range my doc prescribed. Trial run :0) What about split doses? I've been told to take a h...

My husband always takes dramamine when we travel to avoid motion sickness on planes, trains, taxi's, etc. It works excellently for the motion sickness, but always makes him tired and spacey. Dramamine 2 does not work as well and though doesn't make him as tired, makes him spacey for a longer period of time. So my question is if there is anything being tried in the medical research community to further eliminate the drowsiness caused? I have read that one of the ingredients in Dramamine is 8-Chlorotheophylline to counteract the drowsiness. Is there any form of Dramamine that has a higher dosage of 8-Chlorotheophylline? Or would there be any way to have 8-Chlorotheophylline prescribed separately so it could be given in a higher dose? With so many people relying on this product, it...

Will the sleepiness go away after I have been on the fentanyl for a few months? ## I just started the 25mcg patches w Norco 5-325 for bt pain. He upped me to 50 mcg and I can hardly stay awake on day 2. I can barely function. Will I get used to it or do I need to back down to 25. The pain level is great w the 50, tolerable w 25 but much more comfortable with 50 but I can't function, I have to work. I started on the 50 patches on Jan 5th. Any experiences would be appreciated, never taken any narcotics before this. ## Hello, Claudia and Bev! How are you both? Yes, side effects are usually transient and tend to improve, as your body gets used to the medication. The FDA lists this as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause other side effects...

I am on 300 mg Epilim for Bipolar disorder and 25mg of Serez. I stopped taking Serez after sleeping for 12 hours straight and have been drowsy for 2 days. Please help and explain the reason for this. ## Is this your first time taking both of these medications together? Based on my research, (Serez) Quetiapine may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, weight changes and sedation. Many of which correspond to your description. Something else you may want to be aware of is that other drug articles note that more than 1 in 100 people who take (Epilim) Sodium Valproate, experience "sleepiness" as a common side effect. So it seems as though both of your medications could be causing you to sleep a lot more and feel drowsy at the same time. Unfortunately the only way...

I don't want to lose my job now. I want to focus on my job and not be depressed all the time. ## Hello, LoveLife! How are you doing? It could be that you're on too high of a dosage, or this just isn't the right medication for you to take. But usually, the carryover of such effects into the next day is the sign of too high of a dosage. Have you consulted your doctor? They should be able to help you get to the r...

I've been taking methadone for 10 months now. I'm a 200lb Male. I normally take between 50 - 150 ml per day. But the past 2 months the liquid I get has been putting me to sleep. Like I used to come home from work and relax, eat, watch tv, and chill. Well now I come home, eat, and wind up going to sleep for hours on end. Then I wake up at around 2 am, lay back down, and I fall asleep again till 6 when I get up for work. This is getting old quick. Has anyone else gone through this? By the way I dose at 7 am every day. Any and all help appreciated! ## I also should add that I go to pain management, but my doc has cut me way down, and I found a way to make it through the month by dosing with the methadone. But it's a double edged sword cause the methadone is so strong it almost ...

if this medicine does cause drowsiness , how long does a person usually feel drowsy ? thanks ## Hello, Sherry! How are you? I'm sorry, but there's no definitive answer for this question. It depends on the person, some people may not experience side effects, as all, while some may experience all of them for the full duration of treatment. The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as also possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have amoxicillin pills oval shaped. Pink color with WW951. Is it amoxicillan? Label worn off by water

I am currently taking Namenda 28MG for prevention of headaches. It seems to be working well. However, I am suffering from sever drowsiness. I am not allowed to have caffeine. Has anyone experienced this? Did the side effect go away? ## Hello, Jim! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem you're experiencing. You're on the highest daily dose, so it isn't surprising that you'd experience more severe side effects. As listed by the FDA, this medication is well known to cause malaise, drowsiness and dizziness. How long have you been taking it? Side effects are usually transient and go away, one your body gets used to a medication, but it may take 4 to 6 weeks. ## I just started the titration pack of 7 mg last night and am so tired I can't function. I have just started Suboxone 8/2, since the Fentanyl patches (150 mg) were not making a difference in the severe pain that I was experiencing. I was told there was nothing else they (Dr.s) could do for me. They said they could not go up on the Fentanyl. I saw 9 specialists at Emory University. Eight of the docs said there was nothing left to do and I would have to live with it. Only 1 doctor, a surgeon, said he could take out a portion of my brain so that I could not feel pain anymore. I opted for the Suboxone trial. It worked better for me than the Fentanyl patches. I divide my doses so that I can take the med every 4 hours around the clock. I don't know about the rest of you all but my pain doesn't stop until around 9 pm. The only thing I have noticed is that when the doctors ...

Hi, i'm on 1mg xanax daily, and i have to attend lectures twice a week each lecture lasts 2hrs. I usually doze off during the lectures, how can i stay awake in class? Tks for any advice u can give. Bless u. Regards, Sleepyboy ## If you are on 1 mg of Xanax daily, take it at night? ## My doc just prescribed lorazepam as a replacement for Xanax. The Xanax just knocked me out...FAST. Supposedly, the lorazepam gives a more sustained reduction in anxiety. Not quite so rocket ship up & back down. I don't know about the drowsiness factor yet myself though. Since it's Saturday & I don't have anything critical planned, I'm going to try a mid dose in the range my doc prescribed. I'm really hoping for anxiety reduction WITHOUT the extreme drowsiness/sleepiness that ...
