Pills Got Wet

Hi, my Percocet prescription bottle got water in it and 40 pills were left in it. Now they have dissolved into mush. If I measure out 1 pill How much would 1 pill measure at? I don't want to take too much at one time and I really need these pills for pain. The strength is 10/325 also. Thank you. ## Hi Chad, Honestly from your description of how they dissolved into mush, it sounds like trying to salvage them may be a lost cause. I'm not sure what good this would do, but if I were you I'd consider taking a photograph and/or any evidence of what happened to your doctor, in hopes that maybe he/she will have sympathy to write for the remainder of the script. If this is not possible, I'd even see if your doctor might be willing to write for anything at all to help avoid/cope w...

I have oxycodone 10’s (5 of them) and it looks like they got wet or something. The imprint is kind of faded. I can barely see the numbers and it didn’t take the pain away like it usually does. My question is, what could it be? Could they have gotten wet or is it a bad batch from the pharmacy? ## Hi Red, Sorry to hear about your situation. In my opinion I think you should contact your primary care physician since the pills are not working for you in the way that they normally do and explain the situation. Considering your pills are still in tact and the imprint is still legible he/she may be willing to refill your script or exchange them so that you are not taking partial doses of your medication. I suppose ultimately it would come down to your opinion of if the pills are sti...

Will pyrazolam and flubromazepam be ok to consume if they went through the washer? No zip lock or baggie its just turned into a white powdery mush in a pocket!?? ## I would say you should not try to take them. Detergent residue that may have been left with the remains could be toxic, according to the FDA, even if it was just residual detergent and softener from prior washes, additionally, a good bit of the medication has likely washed away. Why were they being carried loose in a pocket? That is never a good idea. Medications should always be kept in appropriate containers, of some type, as explained by the NIH. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for the advice. It was an accidental benzo f:;/ up! Were within a sock . I'm off them now anyhow. You know walking around...

Washed a whole 3rd of xanax 2mg in the washer. I forgot they were in my pocket until I took the clothes out. Now they're all powder. Is it safe to take? ## @Aline, In all honesty I think it be safest to just dispose of those powdery pills. After being in the washer they were exposed and saturated with chemical laden laundry detergent and grey water (i.e. not suitable for drinking). So to put that in your body sounds like a disaster waiting to happen... That's just my personal opinion anyway. I wouldn't consume anything that went through a wash. Sorry for your loss, but it's better to be safe than sick. ## Best not to carry a pill, especially a Xanax without the bottle. Cops are cracking down on Pills, they know what Xanax looks like, and if there is any question it is ve...

I was cleaning my coffee pot with vinegar & water and it spilled out on my counter. My prednisone pills 10 milligrams were in a paper envelope. Most of them got wet and looks like they dissolved a little. But I took them out of the envelope to dry. Some of them fall apart when I pick them up. Is it still safe to take these. They were given to me for a cough from sinus and allergies. ## I have follow up test every six month for cancer n removal of right kidney. Because fifteen years ago I had reaction to iodine. I have to take 50 mg 13 hrs before test then 50 mg 7 hours before the test n 50 mg 1 hr before test. Also I take 50 mg of Benadryl 1 hr before procedure. Nothing else to come off it. Each time I felt bad. N each time it got worse afterward the last two times I took prednisone...

Got vidicon wet in washer will they.still work ## It really depends on how we they got and how much of the tablets started to dissolve. However, regardless of that, I wouldn't recommend trying to use them as even if they only got slightly damp and barely dissolved, they may still have absorbed various chemicals from your washer, such as those in your laundry detergent, bleach, fabric softener and etc. Are there any other comments or questions? ## got my vicodin slightly wet in the sink...dumped 50 pills accidently....dried them all slowly with a hair dryer....only a few are slightly fuzzy....can I still use them? When I opened my pill bottle I accidently dropped quite a few of my methadone pills in the bathroom sink and they got all wet. Will this affect the potency of the pills? Thank you ## In a way, it could, because these is the possibility that they started to dissolve, so some of the medication was lost. However, unless they sat wet and were allowed to dissolve for a long time, the change should be minimal. Most tablets have a thin coating on the outside, even if they don't seem to when you look at them or feel them and the moisture may not have even made it past that coating. When you look at them, is it noticeable that they have been wet? If not, then you probably have nothing to worry about. Most tablets just don't dissolve as fast in water as they do in the acidic environment o...

I have about 10 pills that are powder and 9 in pill form, but will bust into dust if I'm not careful when picking them up. Will they still work like they should? ## I don't know what type of medication you're referring to, but if the tablets became powder, then my main personal concern would be accidentally taking too much. It just seems to me like it would be difficult to measure out an approximate dosage of powder relative to the normal tablet size/composition; unless you know the proper weight and size. The tablet efficacy may also be subject to vary depending upon which drug it is and which binders/fillers it's mixed with [taking into consideration the notion that some substances come in extended release tablets that could present a potentially serious risk factor. I left my 60 mg chewable Vyvanse on my windowsill. The window was open and it rained. Some got wet and dissolved and then dried. Now they are bumpy looking and deformed but still in tact. Are they still safe to take? ## If the pills are fully intact then I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to continue taking them as prescribed. I suppose the partially dissolved tablets would be the only ones that remain questionable, at least in so far as their potency is concerned. However, when it comes to their 'safety', I personally don't consider water to be an adulterant. As a last resort, you could always bring the damaged pills to your prescribing doctor and see if s/he is willing to replace them with a new script? Hope this helps!

I am prescribed 30mg oxycodone 3 times per day. A few got damp and I need to know if they will still be effective and if they are ok to take? ## If they just got damp, they should be fine, though a little of the medication may have dissolved. However, I'd suggest double checking with your doctor or pharmacist. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## my oxycodone15mg meds my soda spilled in bottle meds r they still good i have alot of chronic pain ## So I put my oxycodone 30mg pills in my cupholder, didn't realize it was wet and my pills blew up but kept their shape and color. I had both .5 and 1mg in the same bottle, I am unsure of how many were there, although it was only 4-5 .5 mg and around 5-6 1mg pills. Pink and blue. I went into a depressive episode, because I couldn't find the 1mg ones. The next day I found the pink packaged ones in the shower, dumped them into the bottle not realizing what I was doing. The pink ones are chunked up and the blue ones are pure dust. I am unsure of how to dose them. I am cycling between manic and depressive very quickly, (Ie: 2 days d, 3 days m, and now back in d. I try not to take medications at all.) I only had a 15 script to begin with. (It's not regular, was only until I could make it to my psychologist NP. Which is a new doctor and not for a month.) I'm feeling like I really need to take them, but I'...

I got my medicine percocet 10 mg slightly wet will they still work as good or it wont ## Hello, Johnna! How are you? How wet did they get? Did fluid just splash on them, or did the tablets actually start to dissolve? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Just a simple question, if a tablet is not labled to be dissolved in water, can you disolve it in water anyway to make it easier to swallow? It's not a capsule baring in mind so it's easy dissolvable. ## Hello, Vama! How are you? It would be better to just cut the tablet into smaller pieces to make it easier to swallow. I take 30 mg MS Contin for cronic pain. Went to take it very early in the morning. Was several hours earlier than usual because i had woken around 4:30am in alot of pain! I was very sleepy and had the perscription bottle sitting next to sink as i started to fill my glass with water. i had one pill in hand and a glass in the other with the water running. As i leaned forward to fill my glass, i knocked my pill bottle over into the sink! At least 8 were really wet, a couple more were a lil wet. I know not to crush, cut, or chew them cause of the warnings on the bottle... but are they unsafe if they had gotten a lil wet? The 8 pills were too wet, but what of the others? I set them aside for now but dont know if i should even keep them or if they will make me sick if i take them. I will cont...

So my adipex got wet and I can't get a refill on them. But they swelled up and turned blue. When you pick them up they fall apart. Is it ok to still take them as they are since they are kinda mushy and just drink it with something or mix it in and drink it? Thank u for any help. ## Given the condition they are in, the best thing to do would be to dispose of them, and consult your doctor about possibly obtaining a replacement prescription. It might even help, if you took them mushy remains in to show them, or at least showed them pictures. After getting wet, swelling, and getting mushy, there is a high likelihood that they have lost efficacy, and will no longer work as they should. Adipex is most commonly used to aid in weight loss. According to FDA reports its side effects may inclu...

I somehow spilled coke into my bottle of oxycodone 10 mg. I know dumb right. I didn't spill enough to mess it all up. It still has some form to it. Will they be any good if i try to take it or should i just tell my doctor and look like an ass or do I have to suffer all month? ## That won't cause them to become dangerous, or anything, but some of the medication may have dissolved away, I doubt it will make much of a difference, though. However, informing your doctor to be sure never hurts. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. My embeda fell into water. I dried as much of it as I could and left it on a paper towel to dry. Is it safe to take? The capsules don't look like they've been in water. ## If it was just plain water, that won't make it dangerous, but some of it may have dissolved, already, so it may not be as effective. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. It is, however, always best to double check with a medical professional, and of course, in the the future keep it away from liquids. Is there anything else I can help with?

My Oxycodone 30 mg blue pills got wet, they dried out & now are twice the size they should be & no writing is on them. My question is of they are still as effective as before they got wet? ## as long as it was water, you are fine. There might be a shorter time release bc the membrane might be worn or more porous. ## They also may not be effective, if the water started causing some of the Oxycodone to be released. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. In the future, it is always best to store your pills away from liquid sources to prevent this from occurring. They should be stored in a cool, dark, dry location. Is there a...
