Also, I have read it can cause utis and one of my main complaints is chronic utis. The side effects of this medicine can cause you have the problems this medicine is suppose to remedy. Have you ever tried any natural/homeopathic remedies? I've heard that coconut milk, coconut water, and cranberry juice can be really effective. I deal with a condition called interstitial cystitis which causes an urgency to urinate and all sorts of wonderful related iss...

I've been prescribed clindamycin 300mg for the next seven days. Is this for a urinary tract infection (e.coli)? I'm also wondering since this is not a normal drug that is usually prescribed, if I should take it or if I should I go seek another doctor's opinion? ## This is a broad spectrum antibiotic that can be used to treat various types of bacterial infections, so it is best to follow your doctor's instructions. I'm all out of Amoxicillin and have Pota-V-kin Penicillin V 800000U... Does this cure a UTI? Please help. ## Hi Juno, A study by the US National Institute of Health smugly describes Penicillin's efficacy against UTI's as being a rational choice. Source: NIH / PMC477226 However my research leads me to believe that Penicillin's efficacy may also be dependent upon the strain of bacteria that's causing the infection. Therefore it may be a good idea to have your doctor analyze the bacteria through whatever diagnostics are deemed appropriate, in order to ensure that taking Penicillin is indeed the best approach. If you're unable to get in to see a doctor, perhaps a local pharmacist could at least advise you on Penicillin's standard adult dosing protocols for a UTI....

What is the typical dosage per day of cipro for a uti for a 75 yr old woman? The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. How are you feeling, now? Has there been any change?

I have a UTI Pirifur & Fenazopiridina have been recommended, should I use both or just one? ## Were these medications recommended by your doctor? It is probably best to go with your doctors recommendation (rather than someone's online opinion) since he or she would know best, based on your medical history, and various other methods used for determining if a specific drug is suitable or not. In the meantime I think it would be wise to research and try some natural remedies to help fight the infection without the extra side effects that come with prescription medications.

I have started having pain & am sure it is a UTI. I have these Dicloxacill 250mg & was wondering if this will cure my problem. ## Self-diagnosing is never a good idea, especially with a urinary infection, first of all their are antibiotics targeted to treat it much faster and while it could very well be exactly what you suspect, there is always the chance that it isn't, it could be a vaginal infection, bowel, kidney or one of a number of other things, so your best bet would be to see your doctor and follow their advice after diagnosis. My sister frequently had urinary infections requiring treatment, then the last time, she was absolutely certain from the symptoms that it was another one, but her fiance took her to the emergency room anyway, turns out she had no infection at ...

I was prescribed Tramadol Sandoz Capsules 50mg for Urinary Tract Infection. After researching the drug I am wondering if this is the correct drug as it does not appear to be an antibiotic? ## No, it is not. Tramadol is actually an opioid, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. It can help with pain, but will not do anything to treat a bacterial infection. Who prescribed it? ## I believe that the Tramadol HCL is not only causing me to be constipated, but now I developed a UTI...what can I do naturally to help while I am on this medication? ## Weazie, Although tramadol can cause constipation the incidence of uti's have no correlation in the literature. There are many OTC and herbal alte...

how many tabs should be taken to treat UTI? ## nothing ## I am afraid that this seems to be an over the counter supplement touted as a drug alternative for urinary problems. That said, it is, therefore, not proven to actually help with anything. I can't even find information on what it contains or exactly what they recommend you use it to treat or prevent. Urinary tract infections normally require an antibiotic, which is prescribed by your doctor, according to the type and severity of the infection. Will Metronidazole 500 mg help my boyfriend if he has a UTI ??? We have not been with anyone else so we know it is not a venereal disease, but do not know what it is and they want $450.00 co-pay at the hospital. In other words will the Metronidazole 500 mg take it away if it is a UTI???? ## Hello, Nicole! How is your boyfriend doing? If he is showing symptoms, he needs to see a doctor. It isn't good, nor safe to try to diagnose and treat it yourselves. Metronidazole might not be the right medication to treat his problem. If he goes to the ER, they cannot demand the copay upfront, they have to see him and send him a bill, at a later time. Rather than put his life at risk, that would be the best thing to do, if you don't have a regular doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?
