Are there any tricks to get the insurance company to authorize opana when the 2 other medications that they cover are giving me way to many debilitating side effects . My pain doc switched me to opana or OxyContin so I'd get pain relief without sedation, itching , rashes and vomiting . I've tried OxyContin and I had none of those side effects. My doctor just sent in the letter of medical necessity and if it gets denied I'd like to know what are things that they look for specifically and things they consider there to be cause to approve the request and authorize it? I am currently prescribed opana 40 my 2 times a day problem is I just moved to Cleveland Area and finding docs here sucks. I am with one now who was the coolest and saw my records and prescribed my opana 40 mg right away. Problem is it's not enough and I run out early by a few days all the Time and I am super good about taking my meds but after being hit by drunk driver and life flighted I have extreme problems. At home I had connections to get a few extra but here I know no one and get tested so don't want to get a bad wrap. It's Friday and I'm going to be out Tommorow again and not due till wedensdsy. are the green Opana 20 time relesed if so how long does it take to kick in ## The green opana 20mg that are manufactured by Endo Pharmaceuticals Inc. are extended released tablets. The length of time it takes to "kick in" can vary for each individual and is also based on whether or not you take it with a meal. Having it with fatty food may prolong the absorption time due to a slower metabolism. I would think that you should be able to notice it when the drug kicks in, do you not? I don't have any personal experience with taking opana, so I can only assume that you feel the narcotic effects when it is absorbed. I hope this helps!

As to why it doesn't feel like you took anything, are you tolerant to opiates? That is a fairly low dosage, so if you're used to taking it, or usually take higher doses of other narcotics, this dosage might be too low for you. This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I was given opana 5mg by my doctor 3 months into it, I told them I had a concern with them, I felt they were mentally affecting me, they kept me on it.3 months later I had a break down, and ended up in a mental hospital, I have never had that happen to me and I believe it was something in that pill, they took me off of it and gave me something else, and I am back to my self now, I'm wondering if you have had this problem with other patients? ## It definitely sounds like you experienced some of the severe side effects from this medication. Thanks for the help . ## There actually is no medication under that name, that is actually a misunderstood combination of 2 different medications. Oxi is often used to refer to the narcotic Oxycodone and Opana contains the narcotic Oxymorphone, both of which are very potent and can be habit forming and addictive in their own right. The medications that are most commonly used to treat addiction problems are Methadone and Suboxone, but both of them require a doctor's supervision and prescriptions. The old formulation of Opana (octagonal) was far superior than oxycodone in relieving severe chronic pain. Opana is a time released medication that is extremely potent Because of people who abused it, several people died due to overdose. The FDA mandated that Opana be reformulated to deter abuse. The new Opana is, at least for me, totally ineffective although the extremely high cost remained. As of June 2013, there is a generic available although it is still outragesly expensive. ## And once again, what is relevant to you is not necessarily applicable to everyone else. The new Opana's are terrible! I swallow mine like you're supposed to and I see the entire pill in my poop when I go! They are assisting patience in locating a pharmacy near you by giving them some basic information such as your zip code. They will try to help you locate a pharm who has the drug still instock. I have been taking Opana er 40mg for over a year. My last refill was April 12, i was given a round pill with 40 on one side and E on the back. I am in constant pain! Any suggestions, I take 3 per day with 10/325 percocets 4x day. The pharmacy told the Dr. i must have been crushing my pills - i wasn't. what does an opana 60 mg look like? ## There is not a 60mg Opana available on the U.S. market. Opana is a very potent narcotic that contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone and it is only available in a maximum of 10mgs. Was it perhaps a different medication that you were thinking of? There are tablets of both Morphine and Oxycodone that are available in 60mg dosages. ## Opana is not available in a 60mg. pill. Hello I take opana 40mg Er 3x daily with 8mg of deluded for break threw pain. I have l3-l5 fussed I have Ben on opana now for 6months before that mscontin and oxy. The opana does work for me with little to no side effects I have to agree with fellow commenters about the abuse of the drugs. All it does is make it hard on people like my self that suffer from chronic pain.
