I am Diabetic, and used to get a lot of very painful Cramps, mainly at nights. 2-3 per night, 4 -5 times a week. I'd tried most things, but with little effect. So I discovered that what would help was Potassium and Magnesium, as it feeds the Muscles. Tried an effervencent pill, and that gave me violant diarrhoea. (Aquilea). Then I was told to try half a Banana a day. I have now been 95% free of Cramps for 3 years. Great. ## Very glad you found something that helped you. Yes, the potassium is especially important to our muscle health and, if you are low in it, it will often cause bad muscle cramping. However, too much of it can also be dangerous, so please make sure you don't overdo it. There is a blood test your doctor can do to check the level for you. I always drop low, for re...

My doctor's PA suggested that I take Mirapex for extreme leg cramps in my groin. The cramps started after I was forced to take statins to lower my cholesterol levels. The statins didn't work, but caused the extreme leg cramps. I would be left screaming for 40 minutes or more when the cramps would hit. The PA suggested trying Mirapex at .125mg up to .375mg dosage rates on an "as needed" basis. Mirapex was nothing short of a miracle. When the cramps would hit, I would take two .125mg tablets and the cramps would completely stop in about 20 minutes. I have been checked for underlying conditions (Restless leg, Parkinson's) and they don't exist. I know this treatment may be considered "off-label", but it has been a lifesaver for me. ## Since Mirapex is commonl...

cramps all over my body, often without any muscle activity, in other words, totally at rest and I still get very bad cramps. I am drinking water enough to be peeing about every 2 hours. I also take a calcium/magnesium supliment. ## Hi John, The capsule with imprint Mylan 2537 is a combination of Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg + Triamterene 37.5 mg (it's generic for Dyazide, and is manufactured by Mylan Pharmaceuticals). Can metformin cause a charley horse in the legs? I started metformin 500mg 9 days ago and starting on the 8th day I began experiencing really bad leg cramps. ## Yes, the FDA does list muscle cramping as being a fairly common side effect of this medication, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, flatulence, and stomach pain. Side effects are typically transient and should go away, once your body gets used to the medication, but that may take about 4 to 5 weeks. Are you on any other medications?

I have been on clopidogrel for 8 years after insertion of a stent. During this period I suffered the most painful cramping in my feet, legs and arms when performing moderate exercise. I recently visited my heart specialist who suggested that I may no longer need to take clopidogrel as a recent angiogram showed no significant blockages in my heart. I ceased taking clopidogrel and no longer suffer any cramping. The suffering I have endured for 8 years while on clopidogrel should be a warning to others. If I had been able to exercise without cramping it may well have been as beneficial as taking this drug. ## Hello, Bill! How are you doing? Wow! That's terrible, I'm glad you finally figured out what was causing it. Muscle aches and stiffness are known side effects, as listed by the...

History: today is 3rd day of use, 50g/once a day. Used for opiate dependence, 7 days after last dose of Suboxone. No other symptoms but moderate/strong stomach pains. Some sleeplessness. Any remedies? Other folks experience? Does it go away? Most sites say should not be a side effect for more than a "few days". ## Suboxone has a long half-life. The symptoms you are experiencing at seven days post last usage are most likely withdraw from Suboxone. Some patients do experience some GI disturbance when first starting naltrexone but, they should pass in a week or less.
