When I first started picking up my Lortab 10/500 from my pharmacy, it was in pink tablet form. I asked the pharmacist why it was pink, and was told that it was a generic brand. I was also told that it was not as "effective" (potent-wise) as some other colors 10/500 came in. I asked which color had the most effectiveness for overall pain and was told the purple tablets were. After switching to the purple Lortab 10/500 tablets, I noticed a considerable difference in pain relief and duration. Actually, they look more like a bluish-purple. ## Hi Herman, It is true that generic brands are not as effective as brand name medications, generic medications are allowed (by the FDA) to contain up to 20% more or less of the actual active ingredients. This factor, along with different inactiv...

I work in a surgical practice and today we were told by a pharmacy that this formulation is no longer available? We thought that a few years ago the FDA mandated that the level of Acetaminophen be reduced ## Yes, it was mandated that the amount of Acetaminophen in combination prescription medications be lowered to no more than 325mgs per dose, the FDA put this regulation in place a few years ago. But with just the 300mgs, the only one currently listed as still being available is 10/300mg. However, there is a 7.5/325mg dosage available. I had that happen a couple months ago, when my doctor prescribed it. I had to wait for the pharmacy to reach her and authorize the 325mg dosage, before I could pick up my prescription. This medication is classified as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries t...

I have Crohn’s disease so the 176 hydrocodone always have settled well with me, but today they gave me the M367, so as of right now I did not pick it up because I do not know if it is as strong. And I do not know how it digests. If anybody can answer this question as soon as possible I would appreciate it. Since I am out of pain medication I cannot get a hold of my doctors office. How are the M367? ## Hello Worried69, Nobody on the internet is going to be able to tell you accurately how these pills are going to react to you. The best I can do is provide you with a comparison of the two pills so that you can make an informed decision as to if you want to try these pills or not. All information I provide will be sourced from the National Institute of Health. The M367 and the 176 pil...

I USE HYDROCODONE APAP7.5-500 FOR CHRONIC 4 LUMBAR DISCS DUE TO A CAR ACCIDENT ( NOT AT FAULT) i WAS A PASSENGER. NEEDLESS TO SAY i HAVE BEEN SUFFERINGFOR 24 YRS. RIGHT NOW i HAVE SOME NHOW LOST MY MEDS AND I CANT REFILL BECUSE I JUST PICKED THEM UP O 5/29 I DONT'T KNOW WHAT TO DO , IT'S THE WEEKEND AND i AM IN SEVERE PAIN. IT DOSN'T TAKE THA PAIN OFF ALL THE WAY BUT AAI CAN MANAGE TO WALK AND SLEEP SOME OF THE PAIN. ## Unfortunately, there isn't much to be done. Due to the strict FDA crack down on doctors over-prescribing narcotics and trying to prevent their abuse, doctors usually will not refill any narcotic medications until they are actually due for a refill. If your pain gets too bad, you can try going to the emergency room and explaining what happened and why you ...

I have relocated to the Auburn, Calif. area and am in dire need of a doctor who will pick up where my Florida pain management specialist - fellowship - left off. I need certain procedures done, such as heat ablasion every 6 months. I have been on 10-350mg Hydrocodone for 7 years after a fall backwards from steps onto cement, which resulted in a coma, 9 days in the hospital learning to walk after 4 vertebroplasties. I have degenerative disc disease, degenerative severe osteoarthritis, 2 lumbars touching, and much more! I am a senior, and was reduced from 4 pills a day, like everyone else, to 3. The 4 just took the edge off the pain. I need these to WALK and have a semi-normal life. They work for me! I feel nothing else from these pills and am so against the new legislation. The rule-makers

I have been prescribed Norco 7.5-10 mg prn for 4 yrs. I sometimes take none for 2 weeks but then have a lot of pain and take about 4-6 per week as needed. I had to have a hair follicle test. It says cut off is 200 pg/mg and my quantitative result was 2309 pg/mg. What does that mean? ## Hi ntrubl, In regards to your hair follicle test results, I get the sense that the cut off level of 200 pg/mg is simply referring to the "lowest detectable amount" which can be picked up by the test. Since your results were 2309 pg/mg, this isn't necessarily saying that you had a LOT in your system, but it does imply that you had much more than the minimum amount that could be detected. Does this make sense? I would also encourage you to contact the lab who performed the evaluation if you'...

I am prescribed hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5-500 for neuropathy and fibromyalgia. I'm allowed 30 pills per month, but they just weren't helping at all lately. I remember the pills looking different this time, but that's sometimes the case with generics. I looked again and they have 44 175 printed on them. I have used the same Walgreens for three years now, and started having issues, only with this prescription. I took a printed prescription from my doctor with *6* refills. When I picked it up, there were NO refills on the bottle. I called and they fixed it right away, but now I don't know what is in the bottle. Are they only acetaminophen? Is this why I have had no pain relief? ## Hi Sher, It looks like they really did mess up on your prescription, since this particular i...

I am out of my hydrocodone... Can I take tramadol temporarily until I get my prescription? I'm used to taking 10-325s. These tramadol are 37.5-325. How do I take this? Please help! In chronic pain. ## Tramadol is a serotonin drug. My Hubby takes 1 tab every 6 hours. But they are 50 mg tabs. I would NOT go over the one every six hours. But if you taken another drug that has anything to do with serotonin receptors are involved. I wouldn't take. You would be in far more trouble with serotonin poision then your chronic pain. Call your pharmacy if you don't want to call your doctors office. Or just pick a random pharmacy. Better to call and ask them end up in the ER. Please be safe. Call first. I'm not a doctor or in the medical field. Just another person with chronic pain. #...

I am in Houston & have terminal disease and been on hydrocodone 10-325 & fentanyl patch for years. Picked up prescriptions today and Walgreens filled fentanyl patch but says No one has hydrocodone? Said it was manufacture? They gave me no options, tried a private pharmacy and got no where. Is there anything anybody knows ## @Dsh, Sorry to hear about your situation. It seems as though many chronic pain patients are facing a similar dilemma at this point in time (given the recent state of opioid madness going on throughout the country). I do find it extremely unusual however that pharmacies don't have something as "light" as hydrocodone in stock at any given time. Shortage problems like this appear to be out of the doctor's control who wrote the prescription for yo...

i do not get relief from this pain medicine, what is the deal ## Hi baby, Unfortunately when it comes to choosing an appropriate pain medication, there's a lot of room for trial and error. If your body is accustomed to another manufacturer's versions of this, then its ineffectiveness may be attributed to the different binders/fillers that are being used in this particular tablet versus others. That's my theory anyways, given that nothing else is changed on the label when you switch between different manufacturer's brands/generics. The only thing I'd encourage patients to do in light of this, is to kindly ask the doctor to be more descriptive on the prescription he/she writes, in order to pick out a specific manufacturer that you feel works best from past personal exp...

what color is the cough syrup suppose to be I sent someone to the drug store to pick up my prescription and dont know if i got my correct medicine or not ## Since it is available as a generic, there is no one specific color, it all depends on the manufacturer, the process and ingredients they use. Can you post back and tell us who manufactured it? Then I may be able to find out more details for you. Hydrocodone with Chlorpheniramine is used to treat coughing and allergies. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Learn more: ## I get extremely drowsy when I take my daily dosage. I drop off anytime but mostly when I am reading. Also my mouth is extremely dry. So I have to drink water all through the nignt and secondly I have taken this cough medicine ...

my doctor has prescribed hydrocodone and that is all I take for pain management in N. C. at Walreen's; I never was declined due to insurance nor store's policy for these tablets, and now my PA and MD in pain management have suddenly turned it into a "history" of me picking up my Rx's early on a regular basis ,which is not even true according to my records; I do not understand why one day it was fine with my physician, as I we had always agreed that I wanted lowest doseage of pain meds tolerable for my chronic pain due to herniations and bulging discs, and these are the 10/325's, I tried Tramadol as a break-through Rx, and dropped it, no break through meds. such as that had any help for me, and higher medications with opiates actually suggested by the PA were decl...

Hello, I have been on Norco 10/325 for several years and Watson then Quailtest always worked great. I go to a small pharmacy and they can no longer order Quailtest. They had Tris till this year and I liked Tris also. They will let me pick from whatever they have and that is Amneal, Mallinckrodt, or Camber. The Camber made me sick. So what would you choose between Amneal and Mallinckrodt? I know the reviews aren't great for either on here, but do you prefer 1 over the other? They told me they could also order other generics if I let them know. Thanks for any suggestions. ## When I had to have my dental work done, I had good results with the product from both of those manufacturers, but to me, it did seem that the Mallinckrodt worked a little faster. The FDA warns that Hydrocodone wit...

I have been taking hydrocodone 10-325 (made by Watson) for about a year. I picked up my prescription yesterday and instead of the normal yellow pill, I received a white oblong pill imprinted with m367 on it. I took 2 for breakthrough pain and had no relief what-so-ever. I called the pharmacy and was told that they will no longer be able to get the med from Watson. Does anyone know what has happened? I have chronic pain, and these white ones from Amneal Pharmaceuticals is not going to cut it. Has anyone else experienced this? ## Hello, Dano! How are you? There's no way to know which manufacturer's product your pharmacy will carry at any given time. You might be better served to talk to your doctor about trying a different medication. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the po...

I've been prescribed Hydro/Acetaminophen 5 325 for back pain. I have taken it a few times since prescribed and felt nothing but hot flashes. Is there something wrong with me? ## Hello, Egg! How are you? No, that doesn't necessarily mean that anything is wrong with you, not every medication works for everyone that tries it, that's why there are usually several to pick from in any given therapeutic category. You just may need to discuss it with your doctor and possibly try a different medication. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can I take a 5 mg oxycodone 2 hours after taking two hydrocodone for a bad headache? I had gallbladder surgery and think the anesthesia gave me the headache all day. ## Have they both been prescribed for you? Sometimes these medications are taken together to help improve pain control, but you should not do so on just a whim of our own, due to the risk of overdose. The FDA also warns that they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Are you on any other medications? ## I took the last of my hydrocodone 10mg and when i went to pick up my prescription my doctor switched me to 30mg of roxicodone. So now should i wait until tomorrow to start them or can i take one even though i took a hydrocodone 10mg...

This drug is reportedly available at Oakwood hospital in Dearborn, Michigan off of Oakwood blvd. ## I have been getting my pain medications there for a year because I have a catastrophic illness that just requires maintenance to keep me comfortable. I was there picking up my medications couple weeks ago and I get a note stapled to one of my bags that says they will not fill my pain medication any more. This was after they had me transfer every medication that I take per month which is 10 of them from a pharmacy that is by my house. Oakwood pharmacy is an hour and 15 minute drive. I haven't decided how to go about speaking to them and asking them why they will no longer feel them because they would not give me an answer. If anybody has any suggestions please let me know.

Is the yellow dye in the Qualitest hydrocodone tablets tartrazine, aka FD & C yellow # 5? Many people, myself included, are highly sensitive to this dye. Lots of manufacturers still use it, for unknown reasons. But some have switched to an iron compound for the yellow color (who needs it?!). I have spent much time online trying to get this info, to no avail. If anyone knows, your response would be greatly appreciated! ## Hello, Bluecat! How are you? Actually, it is listed as being FD&C yellow #6. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My son-in-law takes the yellow Norcos. Then one day, he picked up his meds ...

I have been taking hydrocodone/ Acetaminophen 5-325 TB FOR YEARS FOR CHRONIC PAIN. When I just picked up my most recent prescription the pharmacy substituted Hydrocodone/ Acetaminophen 5-300 TB. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE TWO MEDICATIONS? Are there different side effects, and how might they manage my pain differently? ## From what you've listed, the only difference is the dosage of Acetaminophen that each contains, one contains 325mgs and the the other contains 300mgs of it. How is it working for you? What are the markings on the tablets? The FDA warns the Hydrocodone carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
