I've been taking these for a while and recently stopped taking them for a month. I wanted to see the difference in my mind state and moodswings. I started back taking my meds due to the increase in seizure activity. I wanted to know are there any documented information on the difference in moods, depression, etc.? My prescription drug was changed from phenytoin with the purple band to phenytoin plain white with the number 420 printed twice on the capsule; I was told it was fine to take same formula and different manufacturer but when I asked if the fillers were the same the pharmacist stumbled and then said it is ok. Since the medicine was changed without my knowledge or permission by somebody (nobody in the Dr.s office knows how this happened) I am wondering about it. This generic was given to me when I refilled my RX that had been Mylan 1560 white/lavender capsule. I haven't felt good, blahs, no energy, headache which I finally realized it started around the time I started taking the above medication. ## Hello, Deanna! How are you? As to the EC, from what I've found, it's used similar to ES, DS and etc. to designate that as being an extra strength dosage, rather than the standard prescribed amount. Does anyone know where the original Dilantin 100 mg Kapseal , white with orange band (as opposed to the newer capsule, white and orange) is available ? I am severely allergic to dyes and am afraid to switch to newer dilantin or generic phenytoin. Thank You! ## In this case, I think your best bet would be to talk to your pharmacist about it, they should be able to find something that you can take, and order it for you, if they don't already keep it in stock. Most are very accommodating when it comes to allergies. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Dilantin as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and unwanted hair growth.
