If you're not eating much, your metabolism can also put your body into "starvation mode" and begin to store and hold onto fats or what little bit you are eating, as an act of survival. If you really want to rev up your metabolism a bit more, I'd suggest eating smaller meals every 2-3 hours as a way of encouraging your body to keep burning food as fuel and not storing it.
