In the past three days my 70 year old mother has showed mildly increasing signs of paranoia. This was only after having her Risperdal medication reduced three weeks ago per FDA law for nursing home patients. How is this FDA law in her best interest? ## I've never heard of such a law, normally the FDA does not mess with what the doctor's decide is the best dosing and treatment. I find myself having to ask, have they shown you proof of this being a law? I can't see as how this would be in any patients best interest, whatsoever, especially not at her age. ## my son was given 1125mg of diwa every day and he developed hissing sounds in is ears the doctor reduced the dose 750mg a day and soltus 200mg a day will this again triger ocm and panic attacks

Hello. I have PLMD, which is movement of the limbs all during the night and not going into a deep sleep. Results is that I am always fatigued and never feel rested. I researched drugs for this and this is why I started the 300 mg Gabapentin 2 nights ago. Anyone else on Gabapentin for this and, if so, have you noticed improvement? Night before least I slept okay but woke with horrid anxiety and just felt wiped out. I took it l last night and woke up too early, not feeling rested and took a clonopin. I think it may be increasing my anxiety issues? Anyone? ## This medication is actually an anticonvulsant that works in chemicals in the brain, so in some cases, it can cause mood disorders, such as anxiety, as a side effect, along with nausea, dizziness, and weight gain, as reported by the FD...

I experience vertigo periodically my french consultant on examination says due to the hairs in the middle ear has prescribed tanganil 500mgs tds for ten days. Why does this occur will this cure the condition ?? Our mutual understanding was limited. ## As to a cure, that really depends on what's causing your condition. It sounds like they thought you were having some type of inner ear problem, but I really can't say just from the information in your post. There are several things that can cause vertigo. Tanganil contains the active ingredient Acetylleucine, it is widely used in France to treat Vertigo, but it is not used in the U.S., so I don't have a lot of information on it. Does anyone else have more information? ## The equivalent used in the United States for vertigo (min...

I periodically took Darvocet for 10 years for moderate to severe back pain due to four bulging disks prior to the FDA's removal. I only took it when I had a pain cycle appearing, which was seldom more than once a month. I had NO problems. I was able to function well without grogginess, a clear head, diminished pain, and NO signs of side effects. My physician has been trying several of the optional medications and Tramadol does NOTHING for my pain. Any other optional medications (i.e. hydrocodone) leave me incapacitated, sleeping, and woozy, which completely shuts down my days. I try to avoid taking it when the pain approaches, because I hate the side effects, which causes my pain to worsen. Since the removal of Darvocet, I must take off work excessively, feel hopeless, and my qualit...

I am taking Ropinerole for periodic limb movement disorder. This is the fourth medication that I have tried. I have tried Mirapex with not much effect, Gabapentin with not much effect, Levodopa with the side effect of dyskinesia but not much effect. I was hoping that medication #4 would finally be the one! I took Ropinerole for about 4 or 5 days, when I noticed that I was swallowing every 10 - 15 seconds because of excessive salivation. This excessive salivation kept me awake all night swallowing. I take other medication that have the side effect of dry mouth, so I was surprised with this opposite effect. My question is, Is the side effect of excessive salivation one that disappears with time, or is this something that I get used to, or is it something that I have to live with? ## Hi et...

amlodipine 10 mg. I was put on this for periodic high blood pressure but I still feel some hypertension from time to time during the day. I am only on it about a week or so, and I see it takes 4-6 weeks to take full effect. Is this a minor side effect or a bad one and does it go away or does it mean this med is no good for me or too early to tell? ## Are you talking about the hypertension during the day? Are you actually checking your blood pressure at those times to be sure? There aren't usually any symptoms felt from high blood pressure, which is why it is often called the silent killer. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.

My wife is a chronic pain patient. Today she went to have her periodic office visit with her pain management physician. She has, for several years, been prescribed fentanyl transdermal patches, 75 mcg/hour, along with hydrocodone/apap 10/325, 1 or 2 tablets every 8 hours, PRN for breakthrough pain. She changes the patches every 72 hours. Today the Dr changed her treatment regimine changing the fentanyl to 100 mcg/hrs, changing patch every 48 hours. He took her off the hydrocodone/apap, and said if she still has breakthrough pain, that he will prescribe immediate release morphine to replace the hydrocodone/apap. Her Dr says that this is in response to new laws or guidelines from the DEA and FDA. Is this true? He said that they can't prescribe hydrocodone/apap for chronic pain any lon...

Please, someone send me some info. ## Any luck or leads? I mean, seriously. please tell me ways on preventing muscle weakness caused by hypokalemia periodic paralysis ## i want to reduce my ldl cholesterol witch is 132 ,what to do i am? ## Balot, the only real solution for Hypokalemia and the associated problems it causes is to improve the amount of Potassium in your body, by eating more Potassium rich foods and/or taking supplements. Have you seen a doctor for this? And Kumar, what has your doctor advised? There are medications that can help, but they usually require a doctor's prescription, because they can cause side effects. Statin medications are usually the class that is used and they can cause severe joint and muscle pain. ## I feel very weak, whole body, especially my legs. I just took a Diurex and a mobic within minutes of each other...is this a problem? ## My mother takes mobic on a periodic basis. She has also begun to take magnesium supplements in hopes of relieving muscle cramps. Once on the benzo road 2 things will happen. If you stop taking them slowly or cold turkey you will want a quick death. If you continue, your dose will have to be increased periodically. I am on 1mg. 9 months ago it worked for about 8 hours. Now it's down to 3 hours. You're making a deal with the devil, beware. ## I agree with your post but after going C/T, Hospitalization for a week and almost dying, about the last thing I want or need to do is take more Xanax. I take 33% less and have enough to last me for a long long time. I used to worry about my next dose and became obsessed with it all, not anymore.
