If I was able to stop taking Percocet, can I take again without having to go through withdrawals again? I don't want to go through that again, but if I don't abuse will it start all over again? ## Just following; sorry I can't help you. ## No, if you take it for a long period of time again, even if you don't abuse it, your body will, once again, become dependent on it and a sudden cessation will result in some withdrawal effects. This is completely and the only way to try to avoid such would be by doing a slow taper off of a medication, rather than suddenly stopping it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Okay, so say I stay clean for a month, if I take a couple perk 10's just one night maybe once a month or twice a month will I have withdrawl symptoms like I ...

I have been taking 30 mgs a day of percocet. how long do i have to go through withdrawals in order to take another percocet without withdrawing? ## Hello, Anthony! How are you? What are you actually taking? There is no Percocet on the market that contains 30mgs of anything. Percocet contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen and is now only available with 10mgs of the Oxycodone and 325mgs of the Acetaminophen. However, Oxycodone by itself is available in higher doses. And the real fact of relevance is that there is nothing in either that will cause you to go into withdrawal. ## I went to detox and have been clean for 18 days my back really hurts if i take a half of a 10/325 will i have w/d tomorrow I use to take up to 8 pills aday ## Not true, oxycodone will always have a withdrawal even if t...

I have a friend that was addicted to percocet. She was taking on average 12 pills (10s) a day. She stopped cold turkey and has been clean for 13 days. She has experienced all the talked about side effects (sleeplessness, irritability, depression, etc.). Tonight, however, it was something completely different. She was slurring her words, she wobbled when she walked, she didn't have any idea what was going on like where she had been or what she had been doing. Could this also be a withdrawal symptom? It was shocking and scary to me because it has been 13 days off the drug and this is the first that anything like this has happened. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! ## I believe she went sober for the 13 days and then took one too much. I am so sorry to hear about this incident...

I've taken percocet 5's and 7.5's. Before and after knee surgeries. 7.5's are the best, but please everyone. The withdrawal from everyday use of percocet and especially oxycodone/oxycontin is like total death. You just want to die. The withdrawal lasts what seems like forever. Please be careful. Do not take heavy doses or for longer than 2 weeks tops. It's one of the worst withdrawals ever.

I use to take 10-325 of Percocet 5 times a day. My new doctor lowered the dosage to 3times a day. Saying I was takin too much. I had bad withdrawal and ended up in the hospital. I now take 3 10-325 along with 500mg of tyenol to control my pain. Even with that amount I'm still in a lot of pain. What should i do, I feel like my doctor is not listening to me. I feel the only reason he lower the dosage was because the CDC is being hard on them. I'm in pain all day long. ## The CDC is the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, they do not regulate drugs, or prescription medications. They work on getting control of outbreaks of dangerous diseases, preventing their spread, and etc. I believe you may be thinking of the DEA, which is the Drug Enforcement Agency. They are the ones tha...

Ive been withdrawing from roxy for past 2 days. I have a very busy day today. If I take one perc 15 will I be starting my withdrawal process all over?y ## It really depends on how much oxycodone you take and how long you have taken it, and it also depends on your state mentally. It has been a few days since your post... How did it work out? ## Thanks for the reply. I had no problems. Was a bit "off" but wasn't sick. ## Same meds so id say yea..try jus a half tab..work off slowly.

I have taken hydrocodone for years and then changed to Percocet. Ive been taking it for a year and a half. From 20-40 mg a day. This is the end of day 2 withdrawing from it. Ive had weird symptoms such as watery mouth, chapped lips, burning feeling in stomach, nausea, more hungrier than usual, anxiety, crying, leg pain, decrease in sleeping. I will fall asleep and wake up and stay up after a couple hours. Has anyone had similiar symptoms? ## I forgot to add that im having these electric shock sensations thats worse when walking. They are like zaps. ## Hello, Trish! How are you? First of all, what were you taking? Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, it is only available in a maximum dosage of 10mgs of the Oxycodone and 325mgs of the Acetaminophen. There is no 20 or 40mg dosage...

I have been taking percocet on and off for about 16 years now due to chronic kidney stones. I attempted to taper off 10mg oxycodone and ended yesterday with only .5 in the morning and have felt like s***. No sleep last night, chills, goosebumps, nausea, diarrhea. This is even with tapering down. Should I just keep going cold turkey or get more to do a better taper?? ## Those are all normal withdrawal effects, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience fever and rebound pain. Stopping it after being on it for so many years is bound to cause you to experience some withdrawal symptoms and it may take a week or 2, before they taper off and then go away entirely. However, adding it back to do another taper would just be causing you to start over and you'd still be likely to experience...

My husband is backing down on percocet and complaining of dizziness is this a comm I need side effect? ## Hello, Madge! How is your husband doing? Yes, that can be a normal withdrawal effect, when you lower the dose of an opiate or stop taking it, as reported by the FDA. He may also experience rebound pain, depression, anxiety, diarrhea and chills. Is there anything else I can help with?

Someone please tell me how long it takes to withdrawal from percocet and what is expected day by day? ## it can take anywhere from a week to 6 months depending on the detox program you chose now the question of day to day the sun rises, the sunsets, the sun rises again day to day ## Please go to the discussion on Oxycontin, which is Percocet in a slow release form, and read my full account of detoxing at home off high doses of this medication, the physical and mental issues to expect while withdrawing and some tips to help you get through the withdrawl. You can do it. You will know you've found the right discussion if you see my name and postings at the start of the discussion which I began a year ago. I am now Oxycontin free and did it at home. ## Percocet and Oxycontin are not the...

I've been taking Percocets for 16 months for cancer related pain, then for peripheral neuropathy pain in my arms and legs, hands and feet, caused from the chemotherapy treatments. At this time I'm usually taking no more than 4-6 a day (5/325). My trouble now is I'm concerned that the pain I'm experiencing (in my legs mostly) could be withdrawal symptoms. I don't know how to tell the difference. All I know is that I feel like I'm going crazy with leg pain and restless legs until I take my first 2 pills then I'm good until bedtime. Is this an unwarranted worry or could it be time I try to get off of them? ## Hello, Curly! How are you? It's actually hard to say, but withdrawal shouldn't occur that fast. Have you consulted your doctor? This is a narcotic ...

I have stopped taking perc 5mg on Sunday still feeling a little funny how much longer will this last??? ## It really depends on how long you were taking it and how much you were taking regularly. It could take anywhere from a few days to about 2 weeks. This is classified by the FDA as a narcotic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and withdrawal effects, if you stop taking it suddenly are normal and may include nausea, headache, rebound pain, diarrhea and dizziness. Are you feeling any better, yet? ## Withdrawal from Percocets, tramadol, darvon, etc... will make you go through tremendous pain if it was used for pain. Nausea, hot and cold spells are expected but I believe you feel crummy for 3 days but can still function. People who withdraw off of morphine, fentanyl, and othe...

I'm hoping someone understands what is going on with me. I have chronic pain from fibromyalgia. I've been on Percocet for a year. Approx. 2 1/2 hours after I take a pill, my pain starts to return. Am I building up a tolerance to the dosage I'm on or could this be withdrawal symptoms? I'm on 5/325mg 3X per day. How many hours after your last pill can you develop withdrawal symptoms? ## Hi Bubbles! If u have been taking it 4 a year, u can develop a tolerance. When I was on pain pills, I needed an increase in dosage a few times, throughout the years. R u taking more than prescribed, sometimes? Then your body would b use 2 the increase, and, would experience some withdrawals. ## You need to get off of it, its very dangerous to your liver and kidneys. Anything sooner than 4 h...

What are the side effects going to be if I stop taking robaxin and pecocet all at one time? ## The FDA warns that you may experience fever, chills, rebound pain, rebound insomnia, and irritability. What are you stopping abruptly? A slow taper is usually the best thing to do. Are you on any other medications? How long have you been taking them?

If i took one 10mg percocet in the morning when would i start withdrawals ## It took about 12 hrs for me. By 14 hrs I was in full detox mode. I'm on day 12 still in physical detox. But been taking 5 yrs due to injury surgery etc... ## Hello, Steve! How are you? How long were you taking it? If you took just one on that one day, you most likely won't experience any withdrawals. But otherwise, it's going to depend on how much you were taking and for how long, just like Dolphin has pointed out. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## I have been taking oxycodone like 5 yrs never took b4 injury. Have had 3 shoulder surgery. Dr said if I took for pain...

I tore my ACL about 4 years ago, and no one will operate on it.I have been dealing with Oxycodone addiction since i was first prescribed my 5 mg percocet. I am currently DETOXING from around 500 MG of oxycodone per day for about the last 4 months. I've Dt'd many times before, but i am in it for the long haul this time. I haven't slept in two nights and tonight isn't seeming to be very promising either. I'm just looking for some support, maybe someone to talk to through the harder times. Also if anyone knows of any OTC medications that may help get me through it would be greatly appreciated. I've been on 130 mg methadone a day for over a year... i got cut off so now i'm withdrawing.. Will taking Percocet and .5mg claudapins help the withdrawal symptoms? ## It will help, ever so slightly Easiest way to withdrawal, Taper methadone down every two weeks I would start at 100 Take 100 for 2 weeks Go to 80 for 2 weeks Go to 60 for two weeks 40 35 Then at 35 or 30 Start taking it every other day Stay off for 5 days, then switch to suboxone Suboxone for 2 months until you take nothing This way you won't suffer from the acute withdrawal syndrome for the next 3 months I stopped cold turkey at 60 after being on it for years, I had no energy for 3 months ## No offense do nottake that advice that is way too aggressive you can die are you extremely sick please be careful what ...

The long jumble of words is very hard to decipher. Now, that said, first of all, there are no Percocet tablets on the market that contain 20mgs of Oxycodone, the maximum available is 10mgs. As to detoxing, if you have experienced seizures before, you should probably look into a safe alternative, such as treatment with Suboxone. It contains Buprenoprhine and Naloxone. It is given when you are in the early withdrawal stages and is slowly tapered, to prevent the worst of the withdrawal effects and help you stay drug free. Are there any questions or comments? ## There ARE 20mg Percocet. They do not contain Tylenol. ## I'm questioning your ...

IS THERE A PROGRAM THROUGH YOU TO HELP ME GET THIS MEDICATION? ## METHADONE 10MG 1 PILL A DAY FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS. NO WITHDRAWAL SYMPTONS FROM THOSE NARCOTIC PAIN PILLS ## At the time I am reading this, there is no program to help with Percocet (Acetaminophen with Oxycodone), since it is now available as a generic, which by its very intent is cheaper. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. The problem with Methadone is that it can also be habit forming, and most people require it for much longer than 2 months, and many people end up having to take a lifetime maintenance dose. Is there anything I can help with?
