Percocet Vs Oxycodone

I am prescribed oxycodone 30 mg tablets every month. I ran out a few days early and I just wanted to know if I could take 10 mg Percocet in the same quantity to keep my levels up? ## The problem with taking so much Percocet is the Acetaminophen in it. The FDA lists the maximum recommended daily dose it to no more than 3,000mgs and taking 9 Percocet in a day would come really close to that. You might be okay to do this, if your doctor approves, but generally they don't like you to take more than 2, at once. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. When do you see your doctor for a new prescription? ## Yes BOO, take three Percoce...

I've been taking 15mg of Percocet with Tylenol in them for a year. My dr just gave me a 20mg dose without the Tylenol, but it doesn't seem to be working as well. Why is that? ## The ONLY difference in the two pills is the Tylenol, and 1 of the pills (oxy 20) has 5 mgs more than the Percocet 15? I put the ? Because I NEVER heard of a Percocet 15; only 10, 20 and Percocet 30. Never the less, oxycodone is the narcotic in both pills, and oxycodone is oxycodone. IT'S THE SAME THING BABY! ## The Acetaminophen does enhance the action of the narcotic in some people that take it, so you might be one of those people who get better pain relief if it accompanies the opiate. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nau...

I'm prescribed 10 mg Oxycodone for chronic pain and have taken them for about four years. This month I've had several bouts of GI issues, with fever, vomiting and diarrhea. The pills aggravated the nausea and vomiting, so I stopped taking them and tried to get by on Tylenol and Advil. I called the nurse to report that I was not taking the meds and why. Instinct tells me I should report to them anytime there is a situation which would impact my drug panel. By the second day, I identified different types of pains, separate from the illness I was experiencing. It finally dawned on me that it could be withdrawal symptoms (I've never experienced anything like this!) I resumed taking the Oxycodone, even if I knew I was going to throw up. I hoped that enough would stay to make thos...

Out of curiosity what is stronger Percocet 7.5 (325 mg) or Oxycodone 10 mg Immediate Release (IR)? I know the only difference between these two is one has Acetaminophen and one doesn’t. The 7.5 mg Perc didn’t say if it was IR or (Extended Release) ER. If needed more details I’ll explain replying to your post(s). Just trying to have an idea. ## Percocet is immediate release, and even though the Acetaminophen does boost its efficacy for some people that take it, the 10mg Oxycodone is still stronger. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No. That’s perfect thanks! Had 2 surgeries in the past (1...

I've been on oxycodone 10mg for several years. My pain management doc has been reducing my prescription by 5 pills each month to get me down to just 120 per month. Next month I will be at the 120 mark. I've been complaining as that 1 less per day makes a difference in managing my pain daily. A few months ago my pharmacy switched their supplier and the new pills won't cut. They literally shatter on one side leaving me about 3/4 of a pill & crumbs. So now my doctor is suggesting I go on Percocet 10/325mg. I know the 325 is acetaminophen. But what is the difference between Oxy & Percocet? I'm not a fan of taking that much acetaminophen daily without an end in sight. Is the Percocet 10/325mg is stronger than Oxy 10mg? The same? Unless it's stronger, I don't k...

There is a noticeable difference in the pain relief level. Chronic Arthritis has left me virtually an invalid. Without these meds I have extreme difficulty moving and sometimes merely being at rest. I find the same prescription filled with Midlothian mgf to be less effective than the generic manufactured by Alvogen. Is there a difference in the formulation? Is there a possibility the midlothian brand is counterfeit? Prescription filled by Publix, usually from Alvogen but occasional from Midlothian. Hence the question. ## Under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, generics are allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% in the amount of the active ingredients, sometimes problems arise, because they do not have to measure against each other, only against the name brand....

Why does Norco/Hydrocodone, make me sick to my stomach & worsen my migraine, but Percocet/Oxycodone doesn't? ## Hello, Hriggs! How are you? Well, they are two different narcotics and there's always a chance of one working better for you, than another. That's why there are usually several medications available in any given treatment category. Someone else may have these problems with Percocet and have to take Norco, instead. The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause sid effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

I'm taking percocet 10/650mg. I have (DDD), (Athritis), and the list goes on. I have a friend on Norco. Can you tell me what the difference is between them and the highest mg the norco comes in? THANK YOU SO MUCH! ## The Percocet is way better then the Norco, and the reason is because Percocet contains Oxycodone and Norco contains Hydrocodone. What im trying to say is Oxycodone is a stronger and longer lasting Opiate then Norco. {Edited for safety} just make sure to watch how much Tylenol/Acetaminophen ur taking, try not to take more 4000 to 5000mgs cause it can damage ur liver. The best Percocet you can get is 10-650 and 10-325 The best Norco you can get is 10-325 or Lorcets which are 10-650 . Hope this helped in anyway at all and fell free to ask me any questions u have about Pers...

What is the medication with these markings IP204? ## This tablet contains 10mgs of Oxycodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen, this combination could be considered a generic for either one, though many doctors refer to Lorcet as being the product that contains 650mgs of the Acetaminophen. This is a narcotic pain reliever, so it may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. Learn more: Is there anything else I can help with? ## My apologies, it's been one of those mornings. Lorcet would actually contain Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, so the tablet you were asking about would be a generic for Percocet, because it contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen. ## which is considered a stronger medication overall, Lorecet or Norco? I realize that dosages make a diffe...

What is the difference in percocet 10/325 and lortab 10/500, I know the amount of tylenol is different, but I've taken both and the lortab seem to work better than the percocet. Is one stronger than the other? ## Lortab contains Acetaminophen, coupled with the narcotic Hydrocodone. Percocet contains Acetaminophen, coupled with the narcotic Oxycodone. So, it might just be that the Hydrocodone works better for you. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I usually take 5 10/325mg doses of Lortab once daily. How big of a difference would it be to take 5 10/325mg doses of Percocet? Or should I just take 3?

Hi. I'd like information comparing Percocet (Oxycodone / Acetaminophen) and Tramacet (Tramadol hydrochloride / Acetaminophen). Is Percocet a stronger more powerful pain killer than Tramacet? If so, by how much? If you have been taking Percocet are you likely to get the same effect from Tramacet? Is there a chart somewhere that compares or ranks all pain killers comparatively? If so please tell me where. Thanks - good health to you all ## The Tramadol is not actually a narcotic, it is derived from an opiated, but it is not actually one, so it is therefore nowhere near as strong as the Percocet, which contains a strong narcotic Oxycodone. ## She asked about Tramacet not Tramadol. Tramacet is an opiate as is Percocet. As for the chart listing different opiates and their strengths, I wo...

I am a 20 year chronic pain sufferer who every 3 years or so has to detox off 180-240 mg Oxycodone to lower tolerance. Then I start back on 4-6 Percocet a day and gradually increase dosage as needed. I have just completed one of these detoxes using the "Thomas Recipe" - Now, to control the pain again...a friend gave me a few 37.5 mg Tramadol and at the moment I take 2 at a time so 75 mg once a day and find that they elevate my mood quite effectively as well as kill the pain...So I want to know which drug is worse for your liver and brain cells...Tramadol or Percocet? ## As a medical provider my first question to you , would be are you being followed by a pain management doctor. Secondly with the level of Percocet you are taking I would say you have a serious problem . Then do de...

What is the difference between hydrocodone, and oxycodone? For example is five milligrams of each equal to each other? We had a debate at work talking with someone w/o just had surgery, and no one seemed to know. Thanks! ## Hello, Firefly! How are you? Oxycodone is actually a bit stronger than Hydrocodone, you'd only need 3.33mgs of it to be equal to each 5mgs of Hydrocodone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What can I get to help with the inching from Percocets or any other pain meds

which is stronger--10 mg of Percocet or 15 mg of oxycontin? Which is more addictive? ## Hello, CS! How are you? They both contain the same narcotic, which is Oxycodone. Thus, technically the 15mg Oxycontin is stronger, but it is time released and doesn't work all at once, like the Percocet. Percocet also contains Acetaminophen with the Oxycodone, which helps it work better for some people. And thus, that means that neither is more of less addictive. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been taking Norco 10/3.25 for years for severe chronic pain--It's now no longer effective at all--I'm wondering about changing to Percocet 10/3.25 and whether this would be a stronger, more effective and longer lasting med to take--I've tried also Oxy.10 mg. hcl and they work so so and notice I need to take way more often than I ever did with Norco. I don't want to go this route at all!! I'm hoping the Percocet would change all this. Does it? ## I personally was in the same situation as you and I changed from Norco to percocet 10 325. It's much more effective then the Norco was but they have the same time frames. I sampled for a while 15 milligram oxycodones and didn't like those because there is no acetaminophen. I'm glad I made the change 2 per...

I'm trying to find out if hydrocodone 5/325 is the same thing as percocet? ## Hello, Donny! How are you? No, Percocet contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen. So they are both opiates, but different. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. I usually take three 5mg generic percocets that are not Instant Release. I just picked up my script and noticed it has been changed to generic OxyIR that is Instant Release. Do I take my dose as usual? What would be the differences or hazards? ## You should take your dose according to whatever your doctor's prescribing instructions are. The difference between the two is that the Percocet contained both Oxycodone and Acetaminophen and was a regular release formula. The OxyIR contains JUST Oxycodone, without the Acetaminophen and is instant release, so it works to relieve your pain much faster. The side effects are about the same, you may experience: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Do you have any other questions? ## If you can get it, I have found the perc/oxycodone 1...

I changed pharmacies and now my Percocet's look different. I was getting a oval white pill with the A333 imprint and now I got a white round pill with 10 325 RP. I don't know what the differences are but I would like to know before I take them. ## It's just a different manufacturer. The ones you are getting now (RP 10/325) are better in my opinion. They are pressed hard (just like the old roxicets) and last longer. Let us know what you think! ## This tablet contains 10mgs Oxycodone, 325mgs Acetaminophen (NDC 42858-0104). Inactive Ingredients: - silicon dioxide - magnesium stearate - povidone k30 - crospovidone - corn starch - stearic acid - water Ref: DailyMed Is there anything else I can help with?

I take generic percpcet 10-325mg. up to 4 times daily for breakthru pain. I just read about the OxyIR and am wondering what would be the same mg. as the percocet if I wanted to discussed this with my dr.? If OxyIR does NOT contain aspirin wouldn't it be healthier for me & my liver? So, I would like to know the amt to discuss with my PM dr so that I can get the same amt. in my body w/o harming my liver like the percocet does. Eva ## Hello, Eva! How are you? Okay, first of all, Percocet does not contain Aspirin, it contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen, but yes, the Acetaminophen can be a danger to your liver. Second, Oxy IR is only available as a 5mg capsule, so it would not be as strong as the Percocet you currently take. What you would actually be looking for would be the regula...
